As the Great Britain economy melts down, it got a bit hot today during Prime Minister's Questions. I thought you wonks would enjoy. Cherio.

David Cameron: "This Prime Minister has given us the debt levels of Italy and the accounting practices of Enron.. The country is going bankrupt, he's been found out, and New Labor is dead!"

Gordon Brown: "They offer no help to hard pressed families, they are no longer a credible opposition, and he is the do-nothing leader of a do-nothing party!"

(at this point, they retired to a back room where they plotted how they could get their savings out of pounds, and what countries would take them in after they are forced to flee the nation they have destroyed)

The Britishcano economy is tanked, roasted like a hedgehog skewered on a green bamboo spit over a fire. Why? Because the Britishcano speculator is just as irresponsible, greedy, materialistic, immoral, ignorant, pompous, hoity-toity, self-righteous, as Americano.

So is the Britishcano economy toasted or what?

Will Joe-Pint ‘O Stout and Jane Haggis cash out their lorry equity now? (Haaaaa, haaaaa, haaaaa, LORRY EQUITY...)

What will happen to all those big-ass double-decker buses that drive on the wrong side of the road?

Will the Britishcano be toasted as a hedgehog skewered on a stick from head to ass sizzling nicely on a bed of red hot charcoal?

(With apologies to Mr. Andrew Hac – please come back!)

Gordon Brown. Hmm, that was the guy who sold all of England's gold at fire sales prices?

Be careful, he might sell the gold on the table or queen's throne.

All for little crap boxes.

While I was watching this, I was hearing:

"Yo mama wears combat boots!"

followed by:

"Yo mama is a fat whore!"

Two kids on the playground, arguing who was most responsible for the school burning down

It sure was politicaltainment though. Love those brits

BTW, Woolworth's just filed for bankruptcy over here. 100+ years later, and they're gone. Poof.

It’s payback time for the Brits! For decades, they have subjugated the peoples of many impoverished countries. They have pillaged and looted the countries under their dominion and sucked them poor. Even after they left, they made sure that those countries are headed by cronies whose allegiance is to Her Majesty and her subjects. They continued to enrich themselves by selling arms to those ignorant “leaders,” sowing discord and fanning bloody wars everywhere they had set foot.
If you look around, you’ll find Britain behind the majority of the wars that shook the world in the last two centuries.

This is why we should all be concerned, because Britain will be the first power to want to go to war, if the Brits’ lavish way of life is seriously jeopardized.

Things are going to get much uglier. It's only a matter of time folks!

Its gonna get real ugly in Europe.

These violent freaks that burned their neighbors alive in ovens less then 70 years ago are the same freaks that destroyed civilization for approx 2000 years (dark ages).
And are now gonna go at it again..

Keefer,
‘and what countries would take them in after they are forced to flee the nation they have destroyed.

“They”
Who are “They”?

It is all of evil Europe!

Every choice Europe has made in all its history has not only been selfish but on the backs of others.

“They” = the citizens of that rotten continent will pay in the end for the horrible crimes they have committed over so many years and soo many generations.

For the incredible pain “They” have caused to soo many.

LOL at Mammoth's take on this. Although, I would have preferred "Anglicano" or "Britanico"... somehow "Britishcano" doesn't roll of the tongue too well...

Went2puke,

It's not the Brits that deserve blame for all the wars and puppet government installations in the countries they conquered..... The folks that CON-TROLLED Britian deserve the blame, and those folks are non other than the jewish Rothschilds. This satanic jewish family has been responsible for more death and bloodshed than all the other peoples of nearly all other Nations combined.

I'm disappointed more of you aren't seeing the significance of today's PMQ's in the UK

"the country is bankrupt"

Man, that's a BIG quote, coming from the man who will be the next PM.

Can you imagine Obama saying such a thing about the US?

This blog is about hope, change, solutions and getting out of this debacle. But I'm telling you, I feel there's a chance that won't happen. I think there's a chance that we will not recover. Ever. That we're going to go through something as a world that we never, ever, thought we'd see.

Guns. Gold. Riots. Currency collapses. Hundreds of millions unemployed. Something unspeakable.

We are on the verge of a societal collapse.

May you live in interesting times.

Hundreds of millions unemployed - already there. 6% worldwide.

From ChinaDaily:
"The ILO also reviewed the unemployment situation in 2007, saying that 3 billion people aged 15 and older had jobs in the year, up nearly 2 percent from 2006 and more than 17 percent higher than in 1997.

There were 190 million unemployed in 2007."

Kieth, that was AWESOME!!! Thanks!

I wouldn't go nearly as far as a total collapse for decades as you suggest, but maybe a lost decade is in order. People 35-50 are sitting good for the rebound, but over 50 you are hurting in retirement and under 30 you get the next wave...

Mammoth said...

Will do, Corvinus. I will update this for the next thread about Great Britain.

Just wait 'til Keith posts a thread on Russia - about how screwed those people were when their currency collapsed.

Man, was that bear ever skewered and roasted over a fire...

But it can't happen here, in the good old USA, can it?

Can it?

Can it?

We are on the verge of a societal collapse.

Some underwater housing prices, a couple of ill-advised banker bailouts, and a 0.5% economic contraction, and a bunch of you pantywaists are insisting the sky is falling.

Unreal.

Britain will go broke. So will America. And life will go on.

It's funny, all the former HPers bitching that General Motors should go Chapter 11 don't realize that they, and most countries and people around the world, will ALSO be going through Chapter 11, like it or not.

Don't gloat too much. We're not that far behind them.

As far as I am concerned society has been breaking down for decades, and it had nothing to do with the economy but culture. In fact, you could say that the culture was a large factor in the demise of the economy- hedonism (which leads to apathy) all around.

I think we will recover and rebound in the end though, and relatively quickly, all for the better. I'm thinking less than a decade compared to the G.D 15 year slump.

Now what will be of the USD? Issues with corruption in the government? Can't say.

Yep. Times were much better when blacks scrubbed floors, drank from separate water fountains, and swung from trees when they looked our women in the eye!

But those hedonists had to come in and ruin it!

Let's go back to the 1950s. Those were the days, when society put white guys in charge of everything and hedonism was something that J. Edgar Hoover and Co. indulged in themselves, even as they decried it in others.

k, so does this mean I can afford a house in London?

I knew British property values were cooked when my 13 year old British nephew, staying with us for the summer of 07, regularly received email & cellphone updates on the property values of houses in his London neighborhood of Highgate. It reminded me of the story that speculator Joseph P. Kennedy is said to have recognized it was time to abandon Wall Street when he started getting stock tips from his shoeshine boy.

I found my nephews' interest to be disturbing. My FIL told me that British banks were handing out mortgages equal to 10 times a person's income. He was dismayed by all the "city" new money moving into his building.
