We are living in historic times. . .some now are in panic, some sheeple are dazed and confused. . .everyone is afraid. . .here is the quote of the day from Bloomberg again:

Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Bank of America Corp. Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Lewis, who heads the biggest U.S. retail bank, said the nation is ``drowning in debt'' and that both lenders and borrowers are responsible.

The growth of U.S. private and public debt has outpaced gross domestic product expansion by a factor of four to one during the past 25 years, Lewis said today in a speech to the Executives' Club of Chicago. Earlier this week Lewis estimated late payments on credit cards would reach record levels next year as U.S. unemployment increases.

Bank of America became the largest U.S. home lender and credit card issuer through its purchases of Countrywide Financial Corp. in July and MBNA Corp. in 2006. Banks must help Americans ``recover the culture of savings and thrift that provided financial balance to the culture of consumerism that drives our economic growth,'' he said.

MARK - Did you EVER think a banker would say don't spend?????

Great movie! I saw it first in the 1980s and it's still a favourite of mine, a great post-Peak Oil flick.

There is a remake in the works right now.

It stars George W. Bushco and Dick Cheneyburton in lead roles...

They both get killed off early and the audience goes wild with appreciation.

Cheneyburtons heart blows up like the challenger and Bushco gets backed over and crushed under the dual wheels by a truck while taking a roadside leak and peeing into the wind after drinking 22 beers in a row...

What a hoot. I was living abroad in the uber boon docks when this pic came out - so never saw it, only vaguely heard of it years later. So I have no idea what this is about, 'cept it seems that whenever producers want to portray the end of the earth/civilization or something equally dramatic the environment is always dried up and desolate, they wear bizarre, dirty, torn up clothes, they're always scroungy with either mohawks or bushy uncombed hair, and they all speak English with American colloquialisms. The kid running around in a German Shepherd skin outfit kills me.

Our outgoing president could play the feral kid in a remake.

"The far right (and anyone who voted for McCain/Palin) is out-of-touch, ignorant, narrow-minded and bigotted. They lie as easily as they breathe. This past election highlighted the ugliness of these people. They came on hundreds of sites during the campaign and stupidly repeated the lies about Obama that they heard from Palin, McCain and other right wing goons like Joe the Lying, Tax-evading, Fake Plumber.

The Republican Base should have their heads examined, seriously. There is something fundamentaly wrong with them and it's not funny at all. They are dangerous in their ignorance and hypocrisy. Liars and Haters, all of them.

I made a vow to myself that once the election was over, I would never engage in a dialogue with one of these sick and sorry excuses for human beings again. I truly believe they are evil in their minds and hearts."
