Uh, Gov, they got you on tape. Now get the f*ck out. And take that thing off your head - you're scaring the children.

Man, it's easy to hate American politicians these days.

And what's that animal sitting on this guy's head? I can't figure it out.

This guy is Dondi, the character from the old comic strip, all grown up.

He's also obviously got NPD—Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Those clowns often look bizarrely "young" and cartoonish.

Seriously.

Here's a link with some more on the relationship between weird hair and Narcissism. (The weird hair is a symptom of a sickness beneath the scalp.)

Unfortunately, I've known a few Narcissists in my life, and they've all had really weird hair. It has something to do with their distorted self-image and obsession with their own reflection.

But this guy is over the top! Takes the cake!

P.S. Bill Clinton had a pretty big obsession with his hair, too...I seem to remember Air Force One not being able to take off cuz he was getting coiffed...How about John Edwards Liars and Narcissism go hand in hand. They TRULY think they are above the love and blessing the earth with their mere presence.

Hmmm.. this is a good point

Remember John Kerry's "vote for us - we've got better hair" quip?

And then of course Sarah Palin's $100,000 hair?

Remember Radovan Karadzic?

And hmmm... Hitler?

Yup, I see a correlation

Meanwhile, the Illinois Legislature better show this as**ole the door right quick.

In Japan, he'd have killed himself by now. In America, he sticks around like Bush.

Obviously, this guy has had his personality taken over by the thing living on his head, and is not in his right mind.

I don't look up to others, but I think Blago is my new hero - seriously.

Here is a man who sticks up for himself when his so-called peers, all doing the same shit, try to throw him under the bus to deflect attention away from themselves.

F Blago? No, F the people trying to F Blago - they are the true criminals amongst the criminals!

Blago is just a patsy and only did what everyone else has been doing for millenia.

Um, that was what he could not wait to tell the poeple of Illinois? Wow. So much he had to say and clear things up. What an idiot.

Well, he is innocent until proven guilty and he wants his day in court and he has a right to it.

That is the way our system works. love it or leave it.

That said, he is clearly a slimeball (that is not willing to take ownership for what he has done and how he is impacting the ability of the state government to function) and a clever chicago politician.

wait, that is redundant....

Take your last free breath scumbag.

You are going to prison for a long time to be sodomized by a large Afro-American men with bald crusted bloody scarred heads with AIDS repeatatly while squirming like the pig you are. Get the first season of OZ dickhead and begin practicing. Prison IS a contact sport.

You got a purty mouth pretty boy and the hair has to go fast. Saturday Night Live satire to follow.

Save the poetry for your new wife, named Joe.

With any luck your rotten realtor wife will end up in the next prison over.

Patty, you and pretty boy have cashed your last checks, shitbag.

I don't think he was guilty since his actions were too common to be crimes.

Keith,

We lived in Chicago for 11 years. This is just standard issue Chicago politics. Just before my wife and I left the city in 1989, I said to one of my friends, "What would happen if the entire country started acting like Chicago does on a regular basis?" We both laughed.

I'm not really laughing anymore because around 1994 or 95, the rest of the country turned into Chicago. Which means we are a gangster nation. Does everyone GET THAT? We have become a gangster nation.

As to that thing on his head-anybody here from New Jersey? Urban street and style wise, he's got a little Soprano thing going there.

This is code talk that anyone who grew up or has mostly lived in the suburbs won't understand.

Pretty sad.

It's too bad that Obama's Senate seat couldn't be filled thru the same open and transparent process being followed to fill the soon-to-be-empty Senate seat of Hillary Clinton. We all know that Caroline Kennedy and her backers are making no promises to the NY Gov. And so if she should be apppointed to the seat by the NY Gov, and then soon after the NY Gov (or a close relative)gets a position with a trust or non-profit corp. connected to the Kennedys, I hope no one thinks there is any connection. Oh no. The Kennedys have never engaged in that kind of behavior, at least not when there was a federal wiretap rolling. Although, they do seem to have the big hair....Nah. They're the Kennedys--America's royal family.

I was wondering how long it would be before some anon pinhead linked him to Obama. 8 posts I guess.

I understand that Blago just pardoned 22 people after rarely pardoning anyone.

Perhaps he was sending a message?

If you push him, he'll pardon every single prisoner in the state system, including lifers and death row prisoners, thereby flooding the state with criminals.

Talk about fun for the holidays.

I love this guy and couldn't have said it better. Not because he's squeeky clean. Because he's low level and could do damage to the real criminals that are taking over the white house.

I believe that he really believes what he says. A total sociopath.
Sad thing is that the majority of Wall Street and government fall into the same mind set.

I can't believe this tool thinks he can fight this. Unless he's going to out a bunch of other politicos and say "I was just doing what everyone did - I was only more open about it". Not that that will save him.

Maybe Jersey Girl is right - NPD. Of course, with politicians, how to you tell? He's definitely working off of an internal copy of reality.

On the plus side, the head-muffler will serve him well in prison. Just think of all the contraband you could smuggle in that thing!

"That said, he is clearly a slimeball (....) and a clever chicago politician."

I agree wholeheartedly with number one. With number two, not so much.

Maybe Chicago is just more parochial, or that's how they roll out there. But the variety of garden-snake I'm used to observing in DC would *never* have made this kind of mistake.

Not the mistake of peddling access to their fiefdom for favors or other quid-pro-quo arrangements. That wouldn't be considered a mistake. That's what you do to obtain power - you get some little patch of gold you can sit on top of and you lever it to get access to more patches you can lever further. Works the same in badly run corporations (like HP after the founders died).

The mistake "professionals" would be shocked by is that of making a definitive statement on it. Nevermind on a phone line which you would assume could be tapped - even in a private one-on-one conversation they just would never phrase things that openly. There's a certain etiquette to it. You make yourself understood in very broad, general ways.

Like Cheney. He *never* ordered anyone to fabricate evidence on Iraq. All he did was move in to an office at Langley and glower around making it implicitly clear that there were right answers and wrong answers - and rewards and penalties would follow by some mysterious and indirect means. He didn't have to say a single word - just create a Darwinistic selection-effect that moves things where he wanted them.

*That* my friends is how powerful people do business. To lay it out like Blageovitch did would be seen as vulgar and reckless.

I'm sure there are some politicians who are shocked and disgusted by what he did. But in my experience there are at least as many who are amused and/or disgusted by the inept execution.

Discovering a way to ensure that human political structures don't promote this kind of thinking would be a better development than fusion power. It's a race to the bottom - even otherwise decent people start to think this way once they see themselves losing out against others who hold no reservations against much of anything.

This guy's problem may not be so much that he was more corrupt than others. It may have been that he wasn't corrupt enough and didn't know how to play the game and failed. Either way putting him in jail for a long time is a good start. I just hope we don't stop there, and find ways to catch more than just the dumbest crooks.

I wonder who tipped off the investigators? Perhaps one of his potential customers? It will be interesting to find out.

Is he ashamed to have a forehead? A high forehead could be a sign of intelligence.

"Just think ,if the Politicians would of impeached Clinton ,the housing bubble would of never happened."

He's been out of power for eight years and had a hostile congress for six before that - what did he have to do with it? There were a lot of actors in the mess. And he didn't stop the genesis. But would Bob Dole have fired Greenspan, restored Glass-Seagall, prevented Paulson from convincing the SEC and the republican-controlled congress to remove leverage limits (in 2004), or tightened regulation on the mortgage and securitization industries?

Dole was enough of an old-school conservative and isolationist that he may have been less reckless than the neoliberals like Clinton or the neoconservatives. But given how the most powerful elements of both parties were embracing offshoring, rapid deregulation, and bubble-blowing, I don't think he would have been effective. Ron Paul probably wouldn't have made any headway either. He would have been like Carter: hamstrung at every turn because he didn't have a power base or the support of his own party.

Attempting to lay this at Clinton's doorstep is an exercise in scapegoating. Blame him for NAFTA. Look at Phil Gram if you want to blame the housing crisis on a single person. (n.b. I don't - my own view is more along the lines of Henry Blodget http://tinyurl.com/8t9a35 )

Put down the partisan crackpipe. It's all a distraction to keep you loyal to them - no matter which side you're on. Your enemy is not democrats or republicans. It's incumbents.
