And Venezuela.

And Russia.

And the UAE.

Wait till the Obamanation USA pulls out of Iraq and Iran invades back up by Russia, and with missles in Venezuela pointed at the USA, pacafist Obama does nothing. Then oil will go to the moon.

A field mouse is a small, non-offensive little creature, who avoids humans because we are bigger, stronger, whatever.

Now, back that little non-offensive 1oz field mouse into a corner and stick your hand, attached to your 180 lb body, in! Not a good idea, is it?

Islamist's are not field mice.

They will kill you, or each other, without thinking or remorse, on a good day!

Islamic nations very much need oil prices to go back up!

The easiest way to skyrocket oil prices is a major confrontation in that armpit of the world.

What other countries?

Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait,
Norway, and
Canada

What we have witnessed was wholesale liquidation of commodities by "investors" who have no choice but to cover their bad bets. Unless we have a depression that drives demand off a cliff, than I believe oil WTI price will go up again due to cut in production either voluntary or involuntary.

Why, Iran is so f@cked that realPresident Cheney doesn't even want to invade it any more to make profits for Haliburton! And the freedom-loving government of Israel would rather drop bombs in its own back yard than fly over to drop them on Persian reactors. That's truly a bad scene, when nuclear powers don't even want to kill you.

Next up -- Chavez is so f@cked that the CIA is going to stop trying to overthrow him...

The oil producing nations are toast. USD repatriation has begun.

Look: I'll believe in global warming when the average temperature from January through February is 50 degrees in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Until then, it's still cheaper to drive my old truck than it would be to buy a new Toyota Prius.

Don’t ya have it backwards?

I thought it was the Arabs that have been dropping bombs every day into its neighbors Elementary schools since they got what they wanted “a Jew free Gaza”.

Are you a Saudi paid - Internet imbed?

I just hope that the people of Iran stand up and get rid of their insane leaders

Europe’s moral support of Islamo fascists has similar leverage to Oil money.

So long that the ‘International community’ (AKA Eurotards) provide moral support to all of Americas enemies in the name of ‘counter balance the evil USA’;
Arabs and Persians can continue to look forward to death martyrdom and oppression.

Iran has two things going for it:

1) Russia

2) China

Oh and they have the world's 2nd largest NG reserves behind Russia.

They will be fine.

We - amerika - will not.

So you think they are f*cked ?! Maybe. I dont give a sh*t about them. I only care about USA and OUR condition, not theirs.
It is my belief that our current economic "slowdown" is not a slowdown but is the beginning of a complete and total global economic collapse. Not a recession. Not a depression. A collapse. I think the data and the facts are on my side ...
COLLAPSE !

the f*ckers are now the f*ckees jack that price up again i will buy even less down to top raman for dinner every nite, no clothes, shoes, nothing, no fast food, because someone is going to pay for stealing money out of my pocket and if it's China and so many stores and business so be it. I have not changed my driving habits from the days of 4.50 gas and I will drive even less if they pull that shit again and if someone is out of work because people like me quit buying well they should have thought of the repercussions of 4.50 gas. If Iran is having financial problems because gas tanked, well I am having financial problems because of the cost of 4.50 gas. Remember when Chavez was praising the 100 dollar a barrel as well as Amjinindad (or whatever is name is) they said screw the Americans they are greedy and selfish. Perhaps they talked too much and were counting their chickens before they hatched. Isn't there an old saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you" perhaps it doesn't translate into spanish and middle eastern languages and if it does it goes something like this "get what you can while you can you don't like those people anyway".

Don't expect it to last, dumbass.

I here you my brother. Its one cold bitch this yesr in the midwest. I still think Obammmmmmyyy and company will attempt to run the US on the magic flashlight battery. Al gore and the dems hold the patent, they get filthy rich while we freeze and starve to death at the same time. Livin the dream baby.

Keith,

Cmon haven't you ever stopped to think that maybe they manipulated the output to get the American public pissed off like a kicked hornets nest. They got rid of the Darth Vaders administration for at least eight years. Cmon Keith I know you're smarter than that.

Hey Fukko Australia, your country followed Bush/Cheney into Iraq like the good obedient sheep you are. Not only that, Australia is one of the few countries that still has troops in Iraq to this day. Everybody knows that Australia invaded Iraq, along with the US, for money.

The United States is the third largest producer of oil in the world. No need to wonder what would happen -- you are seeing it happen now.

Hello "Pink Flowers." Thank you for your undoubtedly sincere enquiry as to my national origin. If I might give you an Internet hint, try clicking on the blue lettering of people's screen names on this Blogger system. Often, that will take you to a personal profile page. Of course, that could be as much of a fake as everything else on teh Internets toobz, but it's something.

I'm not Saudi, but I literally wipe a lot of Muslims' arses. It's OK -- I'm a trained professional. I also wipe Christian arses, Buddhist arses, atheist arses -- even a Zoroastrian's arse once. (Bet you didn't know there were still any of them left around.) I don't wipe many Jews' arses, because most of them go to a different hospital on their side of town. But when my daughter was young, I wiped her arse plenty, and technically she's Jewish through my ex-wife's lineage. So I'd say I'm ecumenical when I comes to wiping arse.

That said, I don't like arsehole Palestinians who shoot off crappy-ass unguided rockets with the awesome power of a hand grenade. I also don't like arsehole Israelis who impose starvation on the Warsaw ghetto -- excuse me, I mean Gaza Strip -- and then unleash hellfire barrages with tonnes of high explosives on densely populated neighbourhoods. I don't like crazed Muslim suicide bombers who blow up buses. I don't like cool, calculating Christian pilots of supersonic jet bombers who blow the shit out of wedding parties in dusty desert ratholes. I'm in the business of keeping people alive. I tend to frown on people who deal out death. I must be gay or something.

That said, which tag team of terrorists leaders has killed more people -- Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez, or George Bush and Tzipi Livni? The answer might surprise you!

Tyrone,

Nice link. BRIC is no longer about strong emerging markets leading growth, BRIC is just something to shit during the worldwide depression.

Thanks for the cheerful holiday tidings, Anonymous at 8:56 a.m. I might point out that there were massive demonstrations against the war throughout Australia, including 250,000 in the town where I immigrated to. Not bad for a metropolitan area with a population of 2.5 million.

Unfortunately, the government of fascist lapdog John Howard paid as little heed to the will of the citizenry as did the governments of Tony B. Liar and realPresident Cheney. Participation in the war was one of the reasons why voters tossed the Howard government out last year.

Whilst Australia still has troops in Iraq, they have been busily racing around the desert trying to avoid getting shot at. So far, the only Aussie soldier to die in Mess O' Potamia was an unfortunate bloke who managed to shoot himself in the head in his barracks. Digger troops had better aim when they killed a Mexican-American who was driving a garbage truck for KBR in Baghdad.

I hope that clarifies the situation for you, Anon, because I'm sure you're all about facts and knowledge and civilised discourse. And thank you Keith for allowing me to reply to the love I'm feeling from around the world.

Oh, come on.

Oil prices are inverse to the US dollar.

Give it a month or two... oil will rise again, and the dollar will be in freefall.

Be careful what you wish for.

Conventional wisdom says markets do not go vertical in either direction. I call BS on this status quo thinking. Just more propaganda, oil and gas prove it.

Saw in the paper yesterday that Russia is having trouble with their supply pipeline to Europe.

Surprise! Surprise! Oh, the timming of such things.

Don't forget Texas. I saw many news stories of Texans bragging how great it was when oil was $135. My guess is that many overspent as they thought it would last forever.

Given that 90% of these country's economies are oil related, this has done much more damage to their governments than any bomb can.

Right now they have massive amounts of petro dollars in reserve to feed their inefficient socialist bureaucracies. Once they burn through that, the trouble will really start.

However, this can only really hurt them if prices stay low for an extended period of time. We've got to maintain this $40/barrel oil for the whole of 2009 for it to truly hurt these economies.

Just my two cents.

How racist are you Keith is the question. You should have stuck to housing because as a political commentator you come off as a hater and racist. So done with this pathetic blog.

F@cked is their normal condition, soon to be our normal condition. Except for the cabal of thieving global elite everyone will be poor, we will live under bridges, they will live in hardened fortifications. Same thing really. Welcome to reality.

I don't see why they're any more f*cked than they were before oil prices skyrocketed.

Remember - that huge run-up in price happened in less than a year. Oil prices were around $60/barrel as recently as the summer of 2007.

And they stayed well under $40/barrel for most of the decade before the hurricanes of 2004/05. Oil was about $20/barrel ten years ago. At $40 today, that's a reasonable increase in price.

So, basically, it's just a return to normal. Of course, many of these oil countries will have to scale back their ambitious plans of world domination significantly.

Don't you worry that the crooks in Israel are busy creating phony conflicts to jack the price of oil up, right after they go long. Just like they did a week before 9-11, when they short airline stocks.

If you Aussies are such a hot sh!t, why did you elect him then? No no, no need to explain. Got it, genius.

Look at that ugly bastard holding that rock. Why don't we just leave the area, secure our borders, and let these people kill each other? Sounds like a good setup to me. Perhaps we could turn it into some kind of reality show.
