So what day will George W. Bush pardon Dick Cheney, Alberto Gonzales and Donald Rumsfeld?

He could do it Friday night, hoping to bury the news over the weekend, as any good politician does.

He could do it Saturday or Sunday, while Americans are busy shopping at Great Depression 90% off sales.

He could wait until Monday, on the eve of the Inauguration, knowing the news will be all about Obama then.

Or hell, he could slip it in at 11am on Tuesday, right before he slithers out of town.

So what will it be?

I don't know, Keith. He's pretty dumb. He could just plain forget.

He also could realize those three are as responsible as anyone for the fact that his press conference today confirmed that everyone thinks he is the worst president of this era. I could see him going Texas cowboy on their a**es and saying, "You fools helped guarantee that my legacy will be one of failure and incompetence. Guess what? Payback is a bitch, ain't it. (Insert creepy Bush laugh.)"

After all, he wouldn't want to rush to judgement on those guys. This is something historians (and the next attorney general) will decide over time.

This is how Cheney looks on the toilet.

Keith - He won't pardon any of them. Why give Obama a freebie? Let the loony left rant and rave but Obama will not be prosecuting anyone...too many Dems involved. Too much corruption in teh Dem house. Sorry its not going to happen...

How can you pardon someone who hasn't even been charged with, much less convicted of, a crime?

I think the only way Bush would be able to get his co-conspirators off the hook would be to have the law changed to make what they did legal, retrospectively, a la FISA. That takes an act of Congress and a presidential signature.

Why would he pardon them? They haven't been charged with any crimes, nor will they be.

Wait, wait, wait! He's got lots of things to do still.

If I'm to believe MoveOn.org, George Soros, Mike Malloy and all of Hollywood, George W. Bush still has to engineer another 911, declare martial law to prevent the new president from taking office, plant WMD's in Iraq, arrest thousands of innocent Americans without due process, invade Iran, bomb North Korea, and cancel Martin Luther King's birthday.

Anon 1:54 is right.

Obama has been given the national security briefing by now. He's powerless. He won't be prosecuting anyone, because he had no idea how dirty his fellow Democrats were until now. Now that he knows all of the dirt they hold on each other as part of the balance of government, he will just let it all go.

He's just discovered that the military, CIA, FBI, DOD, and all the rest, were powerful before his time and will be powerful after his time. He's only the president.

That is one of the reasons I criticize you for being so harsh on George W. Bush. He's just the president.
