What took someone with a public profile so long to express some F*CKING RAGE?
CNBC should send Santelli to DC immediately - as in on Monday - for his coffee sit-down with the White House, as invited. SO THAT HE CAN EXPRESS SOME F*CKING RAGE TO THE MAN. SO THAT HE CAN RELAY THE FEELINGS OF TENS OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS ON THE LEFT IN THE CENTER AND ON THE RIGHT WHO ARE SO FREAKING PISSED WITH GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE AND THAT WE'RE MAD AS HELL AND WE AREN'T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE.

I think Mr. Santelli is quite misguided in his rant. What he fails to understand is that America's homeowner's need debt relief. Our loans must be modified and the principal balance must be reduced on all of our debt; the mortgage, credit card debt, student loan debt, etc...
Then and only then will we see a meaningful recovery. I hope they privatize the banks and then I can call Barney Frank and tell him to lower the principal on all of my debts!

Mr Santelli seems like a well meaning sort of guy and all, it brought a tear to my eye when he said he didn't want his kid to be a trillion in debt.

Not every homeowner is a sleeze bag. The bubble started in 2000 and everyone who bought since then will eventually be underwater. If a person put 20% down, took on no more than 3x annual gross income, and is still current on payments then that person should be a prime candidate for a modification. I'm in that situation. I wanted a nice 4 bd 2 bth 2,000 square home but there was no way I could afford that so I settled for less than half of that and I'm still underwater. I served my county, went to night school and earned a 4-year degree and a post bacc but I still can't even come close to the homes my parents lived in for most of their lives. Why work and pay my mortgage? I was very conservative and got screwed anyway. The bailout should be for people like me, not for idiots who were obviously in over their heads. Keep in mind that I bought (at that time 2004) the cheapest residence in the area.

I am sick and tired of people saying we can't let the mortgage fraud criminals get put out on the street. During the boom, I resisted all the ludicrous mortgage offers I received and continued to rent a small studio apt in NYC because I refused to "buy" an overpriced property with a mortgage that was unsustainable. While I saved, I watched the market go through the roof outstripping my savings rate because of all the fools and frauds taking option arms and negam loans.... And now, I am supposed to sympathize because they might lose "their" homes and be forced to rent like me? I guess that I am just "selfish" for not wanting to help them maintain a lifestyle beyond their means by restricting my own lifestyle.
