Why do members of Congress think they don't have follow the laws like us little people? Oh, that's right. It's because they DON'T have to.

Chris Dodd felt like he should be able to pay tens of thousands of dollars less than you or me for a mortgage, because hey, he's a "VIP".

Tom Daschle felt like he could have a free car and driver and not pay taxes on that obvious income, while at the same time taking massive bribes, because hey, he used to be important.

Ted Stevens thought he could have all kinds of great work done to his house for no cost because hey, he was in charge of the purse strings of the nation.

Harry Reid thought he could make $1 million on a sweet land deal with a mob lawyer because hey, he was the leader of the Senate.

Folks, the Congress of the United States is corrupt. It is bought and paid for. It is full of conmen, liars and thieves.

EVERY member of Congress should be now be investigated. ALL of their home purchases and mortgages should be scrutinized. ALL of their tax returns should be audited.

Those that make it though, congrats, you can stay, and you can hold your head high.

Those that don't - jail cells await.

You get caught not paying your taxes, you shouldn't just be able to cut a check and say sorry. You should go to f*cking jail.

Our leaders are telling Americans two things at this point:

1) Don't pay your mortgage - we'll bail you out, change the terms, cut the amount you owe.

2) Don't pay your taxes - if you're caught, you just pay what you owe.

America is f*cked unless this nonsense stops and stops now.

I'd bet on f*cked. We've lost our moral bearing, and only a drastic change from the top will get it back. The fox is guarding the henhouse. The inmates are running the jail.

You left one out - Barack Obama, once he got to the Senate, got a $1.6 M house for $1.3 M by getting his corrupt bagman's wife to buy a piece of the property when he couldn't afford the whole property. (Oh, and getting his own wife - although was probably her idea - to ensure a waiver of the restriction on apportioning the historic landmark property through her seat on the Chicago historic preservation board so that Mrs. Rezko could buy the small, rendered worthless, piece of the land).

Hmmm - wonder if Keith's boy Obama paid taxes on what was essentially a $300,000 gift to him and his family?

The fact is, Obama has nominated several tax evaders to his team when the country is more dependent on tax revenue than ever before. It's insulting, as these two articles point out. Let's all stop paying taxes!! See how they like it.

They are above the law my friends. He should be thrown in a cell to serve 10 years with bubba. No woder why people don't pay taxes.

Congress gets away with murder and Michael Phelps might get arrested for that bong hit. Hmmm...I dunno...just seems kinda....wrong.

Now I know why Democrats don't mind taxes or tax hikes....they don't pay any.

Rignt Keith, the U.S. Congress is nothing more than an organized crime syndicate. There is no difference between the Dem/Repub party bosses and a Mafia boss. And the present one is the most voracious swarm of locusts this nation has ever seen.

We really can't call it the U.S. Congress anymore...it has no relation to the United States of America.

Daschel is a true patriot--he's trying to stimulate the economy! Isn't his tax bracket the same one that creates all the jobs for us working stiffs? Isn't this a GOOD thing?

Have you ever spent much time around politicians (or pro sports athletes)? In my previous career as a newspaper reporter, I was in the presence of pollies a lot. Mostly small-timers -- mayors, state legislators, the occasional U.S. Congresscritter.

Even at the low level, these people are fawned upon. "Hi, Mayor Smith! Good to see you!" The owners of the auto dealerships make room for the politico at their table at the good restaurant in town. They've got staffs who jump at their words, and do what the elected official tells them. Everywhere there's deference to them, acknowledgements of their power.

The higher up these people get, the bigger the people are who kowtow to them. Auto company execs instead of car lot owners. TV talking heads who everyone recognises instead of ink-stained wretches from the local fish-wrapper. And their servile staffs are vastly larger.

Imagine if you had a day at work when everyone was SO GLAD to be around you. What would that do to your head, if people treated you not just like your shit didn't stink, but like they wanted to put it in a display jar upon their mantelpiece? That's how it is for bigtime politicians, and even moreso with pro athletes. (And the latter get free sex!) Repeat that for every day of every year.

It's no wonder that politicians and sports stars eventually think they're immune to the rules of ordinary behaviour. Even more reason to turf them out after term limits, or at least subject them to an hour a day with constituents who will verbally abuse them. That was part of the function of court jesters in the old days, to put a damper on the king's hubris.

Obama is so deep in corruption it is absolutely breathtaking. He's from the cesspool of Chicago and is surrounded by corrupt operatives like Rezko, Blagoyavich, Ayers, Alsammarae etc.. and yet the media has given him a free pass. His associations with these people run deep.

He's worked for Rezko for 20 years.

He and Ayers have served on the same boards together for years and Ayers has campaigned for him and organized fund-raising dinners for him and what does Obama say about Ayers "oh, he's just some guy that lives in my neighborhood".

Go read "Barack H Obama: The Unauthorized Biography" for the full scoop.

It's time to take off the blinders Keithy boy. Obama is just as corrupt as the rest of them. Democrat or Republican - it doesn't freaking matter. They are all corrupt to the core.

In the end, I blame the voters, and I blame the media

THEY'RE the ones that are supposed to hold these pricks accountable, and they failed.

Geithner's just lucky that he was already confirmed before Daschle's indiscretions were revealed, otherwise Geithner would have been asked to decline his nomination too.

Obama's victory will mean nothing if he can't clean up even his own cabinet.

It was disappointing that Obama nominated Daschle in the first place when Daschle has been working as a lobbyist for the last 4 years.

I really want to give Obama a chance. I want to give America a chance.

But c'mon. You can't appoint a high-priced lobbyist as a senior cabinet member. Even if he didn't have tax issues. You just can't do it. Not now. Not ever.

This thread shows the problem. Republicans jump on to point out the bad Democrats and vice versa. THIS is the entire problem. Both sides get Americans to choose one like a football team. We fight each other while both sides steal our futures. Its an old trick and always works. BOTH parties are equally corrupt. The Republicans do more damage because they give massive amounts only to the top .1% while the Dems corruption sometimes trickles onto the lesser people.

Any candidate who got excluded from debates (Paul, Nader, Kucinich, McKinney) would have been better than this.

Recipients of gifts don't have to pay the tax, the person who makes the gift does, fyi.

Nice to see Obama say that he f*cked up.

Too bad Bush could never do that.

WASHINGTON – Barack Obama on Tuesday abruptly abandoned his nomination fight for Tom Daschle and a second major appointee who failed to pay all their taxes, fearing a lingering ethics dispute would undercut his claims to moral high ground and cripple his presidency in just its second week. "I screwed up," Obama declared.

I'm from this guys home town in South dakota, I attack Bukko as needed, rant against the globalists who have sold our country out and themselves as if they could be so smart as to realize it. I rant against the socialists who work with the new world order to sell us into slavery. I come from a small town in South Dakota an unimportant state. We got rid of this guy because he was betraying America. I am proud of my state, simple hard working honest people who would not tolerate a traiter. We didn't vote for Obbbbammmmyyyy either.

So I guess you didn't notice (conveniently or blindly like a sheep) that your Messiah nominated a Raytheon lobbyist to run the Pentagon. Geez, did you miss that, too? You do know what Raytheon is, right?

Not really, just because we bash the disgusting democratic party and its gang of criminals, it doesn't mean we're Republicans. Stupid commie liberals are ones who immediately jump to that conclusion.

So multiple-commenting Anonymous, you're from South Dakota, eh? I understand better why you hate California. Jealousy is a terrible thing to be plagued with. I drove across South Dakota a number of times in my life. I tried to drive reeeeeal fast, so it would seem less awful. Didn't help.

I hope for your sake that you can get out someday. But I fear it's too late.

Based on his advisor and cabinet picks, Obama is showing poor judgement. Very concerning.

He should make Geithner step down if he really wants to take the high road. Not that I care about his tax frauds (patriotism) but his ideas just plain suck. A terrible pick.

You know how when your kid takes a field trip, he needs a chaperone?

That's what these crooks need, some random guy to just follow them around, like the Secret Service follows the president. The only difference would be that instead of protecting the congressperson from others, the chaperone would protect the rest of us from the congressperson. Seriously, we would need 538 of these people for Legislative Branch and probably twice that for the Executive Branch. Their job is just to blow the whistle whenever these people break the law.

This seems like a good use of that stimulus money. Heck, I just created 1500 jobs!

Bukko trash all Americans who watch foot ball, trash South Dakota, ( by the way dumbass you don't know where I'm at) trash anyone who might actually resemble a man. Bukko you prattled on about how you and your wife were going to walk along the beach viewing colorful coral while Americans froze to death in the slush. Barney Frank walking along side Pelosi wearing nothing but a thong. Those poor bastards down under are truely fucked. What is most amusing about a guy like you is you sound just like Frank and you still don't see yourself as an idiot.

PS anyone who sounds so much like Frank has to look like him. There is no other way so much damage could be done to the human mind. You look like Frank well Bukko say hello to Pelosi.

He sure did screw up! Those guys weren't supposed to get caught. Obama was trying to sneak them through.

Do you really think Obama and his staff are so naive as to think the cabinet picks won't be scrutinized, and they didn't bother to ask questions?

While we're on the topic of South Dakota... I went on a 9,000 mile, 28 state roadtrip last summer with the family and the most beautiful state I drove through was South Dakota. Loved it! The plains and open ranges were so pretty, and who knew that Mt Rushmore was so nice. It reminded me of Lake Tahoe (without the lake, of course).

2nd most beautiful state was Minnesota.

A few other best of's from my trip:

Funnest town - Boston

Cutest towns - Savannah and Jamestown

Dirtiest city - Washington DC. (the Mall, monuments, etc. need some serious cleaning)

Best attractions - Niagra Falls and Ellis Island

Most beautiful college campus - Notre Dame

Largest group of Obama freaks in one area - Madison, Wisconsin

States with most visible support for Ron Paul - Minnesota, Oregon

Most out of control truckers on the road - Ohio

Most road rage - New York

State with the smallest police presence on the highway - Minnesota

Largest concentration of people with gum disease and rotten teeth
- Myrtle Beach

Largest concentration of Meth users - Oregon

Best tip - enter Yellowstone from the Northeast - breathtaking

Best all around deal - Washington DC (all the attractions are free)

Best "chain" restautant - Texas Roadhouse. Sooooo good.

Best beaches - on the West Coast

Favorite place and best food - New York City, always.

The United States Fed. Gov't. The biggest enemy and threat to 'We The People' of the USA.

It's time to abolish the United States Federal Govt.
