Over all, Jon Stewart gets an A+
Not that there's not a lot to criticize regarding CNBC, but Stewart was way off the mark on this one.
Cramer, of course, is a ranting idiot whose positions swing back and forth like a pendulum. So, he makes an easy target. But, much of this was an attempt to smear the network with the statements of its guests. And, the suggestion that Santelli supported bank bailouts, is demonstrably false.
I'd take CNBC over their counterpart, the Wuss Network, MSNBC, any day of the week.

it's a good funny summary of the conflict of interest at CNBC, but Santelli would not approve of any of these bailouts, so Stewart wrongly accuses him of a double standard here...it's also obvious Stewart is in love with himself

I'm so old, I can remember when The Daily Show was funny.
They had this great idea of being "fake news" and making people laugh at how serious people in the media take themselves. "When news breaks, We fix it."

American Idol + American Polotic s= John Stewart. John Stewart is a great bull shitter, I will give him that. But am I the only one that sees a problem with his whole spin on things. The guy had to do a political show on the comedy channel. Now people who know nothing more about what is going on other than Obmass has some gray hair and Michelle is picking out a dog for the White House can say they acctually learned something today after watching this idiot.
Let me give you an example of how Stewart's thought process works.
Example: Even though the earth is twice the size of the moon it is still farther away.
Now I am not defending CNBC here so do not come to that conclusion. But in this video watch how he justified making Santelli look bad by quickly showing the other fucktards on CNBC. Stewart was not able to discredit Santelli directly but was very able to discredit CNBC and that would ultimatly discredit santelli. It flowed nice but didn't really make much sense.
Further more Stewart seemed like he was leaning torward justifying that homeowners get "bailed out" because the banks got a bailout.
2 f'n wrongs do not make a right, oh unless you live in the US now where contract law, or most of the other laws for that matter, don't have any credibilty any more.

I used ot like Stewart, I thought he was an honest broker. Now it is clear that he is just a Democrat.
Actually, any "bail-out" for house debters will be very small for those who can actually qualify - it's such a mess.
While they're figuring out how to modify these mortgages, the value of houses will continue to plummet.
Now, with Citi Group near collapse, we'll see more unemployment witthin the banking sector.
It's just a matter of time before the entire economic and financial systems come to a halt.
We're not producing anything viable any longer in this country, so we have no direction to go but further into the toilet.
That's where Stewart and the rest like this will be very, very surprised - their "nest eggs" will suffer as well - it's just a matter of time.
Keep in mind that many of this people have large lifestyles, along with plenty of debt as well.

I can't believe how many anonymi want to lick CNBC's balls. Stewart's piece was brillant. So what if he had to bend some quotes to fit into his premise. The basic point was totally valid. Not one of those wisdom dispening yorkels were pointing out the Emperor's nudity until it was impossible not so see the junk flapping in your face.
CNBC is full of market cheerleaders who have a vested interestin whatever crap they are peddling. I'd like one person to tell me they made money watching Cramer, Kudlow,etc.

Santelli has been against all the bailouts be it for a bank, AIG, or homedebtors. He went so far one morning to actually walk off camera to get away from the crap the Steve Liesman was peddling.

I can remember when the Daily Show was funny, too. Somewhere along the way Jon Stewart and others started taking him seriously.
I used to laugh at Chevy Chase imitating a bumbling Gerald Ford. Even Dennis Miller's Weekend Update cracked me up sometimes.
Now we have smug humor. It just isn't funny. It reeks of insecurity and oneupmanship.
Although all generations are practicing smug humor, it reminds me the most of observing the Boomers when I started working FT 20 years ago. They were the types of people that thought it was funny that a mechanic has dirty hands. It was juvenile and hinted at emotional retardation, not to mention being pompous.

Most of you are missing the point. Stewart wasn't saying that Santelli was hypocrite for being against the mortgage bailout because he was for the bank bailouts.
Stewart very effectively made the point that Santelli is a hypocrite because he called mortgage gamblers "losers" for naively taking excessive risks, while Santelli works for a network full of losers who got the markets completely wrong and consistently gave out hideously bad advice because they are nothing more than cheerleaders for their corporate masters.
West Coast, it's not that there's any respect for CNBC here. It's that the theme of the piece was to minimize Santelli. That even pissed off Stewart fans here.

You tell that his guy (probably in college and has never held a real job) has never posted to this blog before and probably found it by googling "Jon Stewart" because he worships the guys underwear.
The Daily Show was kind of fun when we had supervillains in the White House. I haven't watched much recently, but haven't seen any indication that he's done much but suck up to the new administration. CNBC might deserve all the grief he gave them, but I don't see any clip of Santelli speaking in favor of the bank bailouts. That's a cheap shot to imply that he did. And you know DS staffers were digging for it. I think it was Turd Blossom who just wrote an editorial pointing out Obama's overuse of strawmen. Stewart's implication is in the same vein.
CNBC sucks. They have no usable news at all, and their little snippets about how to profit on this or that are all worthless. News shows have their agenda's and their own brand of shit to sell. All news show blowhards can go blow their agendas out their asses. Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert provide more substance than any legit news program. Any body who thinks otherwise, obviously believes that news anchormen/women are giving unbiased looks at the world and that after watching them they are better "educated" about the world in which we live.

CNBC is bad? Yes it is. And how is Comedy Central doing? For starters, Comedy Central is so far up Obama’s ass, Stewart and Colbert can read his teleprompter. They had decent writers before the strike. Now both of them read scripts every night that sound like something written by a stoned twelve year old.
