Road Warrior? Did someone on TV just let freaking Road Warrior out of the bag? I thought only blogs did that.
We went from lining up outside Best Buy to Road Warrior in just a few years?
Man, we humans, with our monkey brains, I've gotta give it to us. We're a funny sort. The madness of crowds, the competition for scarce resources, real or imagined, it gets us every time.

World population 4 billion and headed downward. Survivors shell-shocked because of what they had to do to be one of the ones left alive. Some of us will be amongst their ranks. Keith, every time you post anything connected to Glenn Beck, you discredit yourself and this blog.

2014? I am hoping that it looks like this:
Vegetable gardens in front of public buildings.
A black market ecconomy with bartering as king.
Community control of communities
All current politicians out on their ear, they had one chance too many.
Health care and housing as a right not a commodity.
Free education to all.
Cities taken over by bicycles.
Clothing and goods exchanges instead of second hand stores like Goodwill that rip off everyone.
Mandatory voting and mandatory recycling.
No plastic bags. Everyone carries cloth bags in their hip pocket or purse or backpack.
Pedestrians everywhere with a slimmed down population as a result.
A new ecconomy that is not capitalist.
Worker controlled and owned factories.
Strong labor unions.
A real choice in political parties, three, four, ten new parties that have power sharing.
Elimination of the electoral voting system.
A new US Constitution.
True separation of Church and State.
Empty prisons replaced by community service and mental health
All drugs legalized.
Elimination of advertising using women's bodies.
An equal rights ammendment.

Real-estate drops 70% from peak then flatlines. Finance is a minor industry for much of the U.S. Nobody invests in stocks as its a dirty word like in the 1970s. Frugality is in, minor hippie movement....Probably will be a good time to buy equities again.
Not sure How bad it will get ( looting, rioting, storming gov't buildings) That being said, I have slowly increased savings and purchase ammo for self defense. I agree these (scums) madoff and others should be dragged out into the snow and shot. I think that would get the message out to others banker/investor who are or are planning to rip people off.
Supposing these right wingers turn to violence; if they do so without trying civil disobedience, then they are nothing more than fascist thugs.
FARK! I commented based on reading Keith's question about 2014, before watching the clip. I didn't realise it was Beck. I wouldn't have bothered if I knew it was that moron. He's the voice of the angry white man who will barricade himself inside his house, shooting at the local police, because he murdered the postwoman one day since she was an agent of the government. Why do unhinged people like him get media exposure?
I was more surprised to see Michael Scheuer supporting the "Let's go crazy and start shooting at shit" scenario. I read his first book, "Imperial Hubris," back when he was still officially "Anonymous" on account of being a current CIA employee. It was one of the things that convinced me that America was a lost cause. I've seen him interviewed numerous times, and he always struck me as sensible, if a bit bloody-minded. But it was terrorists he was aming at, not people from his nation's government.
The more that people like Beck, and the raving anonymous who posts here, keep talking about violent resistance, the more likely they are to talk themselves into doing something stupid. It's going to be the local police who have to deal with you, nutjobs. I'm not a big fan of cops, but why should they have to waste their time firing tear gas through your front window because you've gone paranoid-schizo? There's real criminals to catch, loonies!
Keep in mind, as soon as you pick up that gun and shoot at the .gov, your life is over. You might die quickly from a gunshot, or you might die after years of agony in prison. I know what you're thinking. You've got five or six bullets in that gun. You think you can take on the State. Do ya feel suicidal, punk?
The main thing I think of when I watched Beck chortle about guys holing up with their guns is a tune by an Aussie punk band named the "Cosmic Psychos." It's about a guy who likes to pick up hitchiking sluts and cut them up with his chainsaw. The song ends with these lyrics:

Oh yeah, I can forsee a lot of that before 2014 rolls around.

Obama will still be President, Dems will have filibuster-proof majority in senate. Republicans will still cleave to eliminationist, trickle down Ayn Randian hallucinations.
Afghanistan will have claimed 20-30K American lives, no Allies will join us there. Military reruiters will be living high on the hog. 95% of US Navy and Air Force will be in SW Pacific fighting the Chinese.
"Peace keeping forces" will occupy Cuba and remain in Iraq to assure that their oil is "protected." The world will still hate us for our foreign policy. Except Israel, of course.
Draft-aged Republicans will have discovered the divine grace of war resistance. Hate radio will be all-isolationist and "end Obama's wars" all the time.
Charlie Crist and Lindsey Graham will be the first openly gay Senatorial married couple.
Creationists will still run the Republican party, and prayer rugs (sewn gratis by non-union unemployed Christians in the good old U.S. of A.) will be their main economic plank in the upcoming mid-term elections.
Prayer slankets will have just passed out of fashion on late night TV, displaced by "hooked on phonics for adults" bibles (Enhanced Revelations edition).
Those KBR concentration camps in the Midwest will be half full, serving as death and dying camps for quarantined avian flu victims that can't get into VA hospitals.
There will be one U.S. auto maker, one U.S. Health insurance provider (and coverage will suck), one major drug company, a national bank. Erupting Taiwan/Indonesian wars will make these common sense economic solutions ineffective.
SS retirement age will be 75. Bby boomers will have given no ground on entitlements, further starving and making homeless the younger generations.
Stock market will be irrelevant and utterly distrusted as a retirement vehicle.
MBA will continue to be the academic equivalent of a Chiropractic degree.

1.) I expect there will be toll roads everywhere.
2.)Single Payer Universal Coverage will be the American Health Care system (it is so much more efficient & economical that everyone will wonder why we didn't do it 50 years earlier).
3.)Instead of badly timed traffic lights at every intersection, there will be round-abouts to save time & gas.
4.) Cars will be a lot smaller and more fuel efficient.
5.) Other than the above, not much will have changed.
Apolitical scientists have will come forward with their enormously beneficial discoveries in a way that ensures the common good.

I think it will look more like the breakup of the Soviet Union. Some states will be OK and some will be fucked. The Federal government won't be able to afford to fund the punching bag states, which could lead to a looser confederacy but the USA won't rupture into anarchy. It will just get worse and worse until a strong man like Putin brings fascism in to a populace tired of lawlessness.
I only predict this because historically it happens quite frequently. Just a guess.
The heartland will have agriculture and the coastal areas will have trade. I don't know what arizona and nevada will have, maybe narcotics?
Madoff is a crook...and so are his clients. These people knew you can not get 15% gains every year. All the people they know were getting 3% or losing money...they got 15%.

We are at a time in our history where everything seems to be coming together to ignite the powder keg that is also known as America.
The nuts who have been dormant for years, when Bush was polarizing the country for short-term political gains and allowing his cronies to loot and swindle, are now coming out of their shells to perpetuate the fear-mongering that served Bush so well in the past 8 years.
When you put 2 and 2 together, you can see where we are heading. With the exception of the 1% of the population, Americans are hurting badly; although Obama has nothing to do with their plight, the blame will ultimately sit squarely on his head; the election of Obama is stoking the long-repressed fires of racism in America; the world is already in a tizzy and there isn't a thing that can be done to avoid a global collapse. Add to those facts a Fox Channel not willing to let go of its ad revenues after the demise of its ultra conservative agenda, and you have all the ingredients to start a civil war.
I am afraid 2014 will be the year in which Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly and the likes of such peddlers of hate will become the new leaders of the discredited GOP. What will come next is left to your good imagination.
