Here are my nominees for the Independent Special Prosecutor that will investigate the Great Housing Ponzi Scheme: Eliot Spitzer and Patrick Fitzgerald

Spitzer screwed up baaaaad in his personal life (great timing when he got moved aside, eh?), but damn, he was a great prosecutor - and Attorney General for NY too. He and he alone could crack the case.

Patrick Fitzgerald is also one of the best. Put him on Mozilo and Dodd and O'Neal and Paulson, and see how long they take to squeal like pigs.

COME ON OBAMA. THIS WAS THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY, AND YOUR PARTY WAS/IS HEAVILY INVOLVED. NAME AN INDEPENDENT SPECIAL PROSECUTOR, DO IT NOW, OR THIS SUCKER IS GONNA BLOW. AND YOU WILL BE SEEN AS CORRUPT AS ALL THE REST. WHAT'S STOPPING YOU? AFRAID OF WHERE IT WILL LEAD?

It would be bad taste to pick Spitzer. Cuomo wouldn't be a bad pick though - he's got some teeth

HELLLLLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Elliot Spitzer would rip those muthers a new one.

There is all of the evidence in the world that his little spending habits were "outed" only when he got close to blowing the whistle on the theives at AIG...

Google the Matt Taibi article on Rolling stone titled "The Big Takeover" if you want to hurl your cookies!!

ELLIOT FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!

(Because keeping it in your pants is the LEAST of our worries now America)...

Kieth,

May I take this time to suggest that you take time and watch the best TV show ever made.

HBO's The Wire

The answer why not is:

a.) the media would discredit Spitzer for being a whoremonger

and

b.) both would be ruthless pitbulls with sickening case win records

How can you people believe that we can sprinkle in prosecutorial effectiveness and competence at a time like this?

What do you mean by putting the best and brightest on the task?

That's just crazy talk.

Keith, let it go pal, just let it go. Just accept the fact that America is a nation of laws- for us little people. While the thieves on high places don't need to be held accountable to anyone. That is just the reality.

Keith, I am thinking that you might want to address the shooting of that Photo Radar van driver in Phoenix. This has rage against government written all over it.

The facts have not yet come out, but a suspect has been arrested. It's the only thing that people in Phoenix are talking about right now.

Get ready for the worst depression this country is now moving into.

As if Spitzer is some modern day Elliot Ness - LOL. He's a frikkin' corrupt tool who has multiple addictions including sex and meth. Forget it Keth, the goose is cooked. Short of a full-blown revolution these guys will continue to ass rape the country and loot the treasury.

Hahaha, Obama just pardoned everyone involved in torture for last 8 years. He just gave away 12 TRILLION to the banks. Special prosecutor? When are you going to wake up? Obama is not your special friend. He doesn't care about us. He isn't ignorant, he's complicit. He has NO MORAL COMPASS. You are cattle to him, and he is busy with the last official act of government: LOOTING. WAKE UP!

I think spitzer would be a good choice. He knows where to look.He isn't perfect, but who in america is? Lets turn this pitbull loose!

"COME ON OBAMA. THIS WAS THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY, AND YOUR PARTY WAS/IS HEAVILY INVOLVED."

Crime? What crime? There was no crime committed. Those are all much honored campaign contributors. The more they contribute the more honored and upstanding they are. Got that scumbag?

In a few more days, 100 into his Presidency, there will be an appalling record to consider.

No matter that partisan whackjobs considerably muddied the waters by blaming him before he took office.

He is a just a bagman; put in office to take the fall. Think of how much better off we would have been with McCain and massive spending cuts.

Isn't that same fiscal responsibility what we found our consciences over five days ago, fellow conservatives?

That the right thing is politically impossible augurs ill for our republic. Sentiment of at least 100-to-1 against the bailout.

They do not work for us, yet we sign the checks. Were that the answer is at the ballot box.

You fucking bet they're scared of those vets. Courage and backbone they can scarcely ponder.

not your ho said...

didn't spitzer get blown by a ho?Cmon guys get somebody else please.

you guys are dreaming if you think any of these crooks are going to jail.

I got friends in low places too!!!!!!!!

Is idol on?????????

Spitzer was screwed over by the same warrantless domestic wiretapping that Obama has been backing!!

Obama Supports Tapping Your Phone and Internet.

Gee, the new boss is looking a hell of a lot like the old boss, wouldn't ya say, Keith?

Wiretapping can be very handy when it comes to blackmailing politicians into supporting your agenda:

i like spitzer cuz he has nothing...and i mean nothing to lose.

When it comes to these so called "public servants" , just think of yourself as a business person. You are hiring these people to do a job. Are you satisfied with their performance? If not, get rid of them!

My impression is that most of these people are NOT public servants, and will take any money and do anything to keep the riches flowing into their coffers.
Always remember the first goal of a politician is to stay in office (keep that income). Can't blame 'em - it's a pretty good deal.

Keith, telling you the truth is going to be like telling a little kid there is no Santa Claus, but here it goes - Obama isnt going to call any special investigations. Just look at his campaign donor list. Change was just a brilliantly timed marketing scheme. He's bought and paid for like the rest of the corrupt politicians. What else would you expect from a politician from Chicago?

Unfortunately, the big boss is not about to hunt the crooks. I tried to post yesterday (don't know if the ether ate it, or if ya moderated it away) the quote from NY Post (will try again tomorrow) that OB is hugely supporting Chris Dodd for reelection, since, after all, the guy is great even if he is going through a rough patch right now :(

Odds of an aggressive hunt are poor.

BTW- can we stop maybe with the all-or-none thread headers?

Like, "only" these two can prosecute.

And like, "anthropogenic global warming is absolute fact because I saw the (banned in Britain from schools as propaganda) Algore's movie.

Chuck Schumer wins the Barn Door Escaped Horse prize."...a sharp increase in home values created a perfect storm for these housing scammers to swoop in and fleece homeowners. With this bill, these criminals will be stopped.”..."

You got that EXACTLY BACKWARD, Senator.

"...Obama...is busy with the last official act of government: LOOTING..."You got that EXACTLY RIGHT, Matt C.

"...Spitzer was screwed over by the same warrantless domestic wiretapping that Obama has been backing!!..."Ho, SHIT; completely forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder, Gonzo!

Kinda puts the lie to the "name me one abuse" canard, eh?

what? that was ok for the president to do. the only way it wouldn't be ok for spitzer is if he is a repulican.

If fitzgerld is moved it is only a pay back from Obama to his boyz back in Chicago. Chicago is soooo dirty and fitz in on the case. Obama's politican godfather, Daley. He in the cross hairs and is very nervous.

Say what you will about his personal life and his desire to chase a little strange from time to time (at least he was nailing a woman), but, Spitzer knows how to break balls. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption - I have every confidence that Spitzer could do everyone a favor if given the chance.

As for the politics behind appointments like the one you are suggesting:

It is not about right and wrong. Repeat - it is not about right and wrong. In politics it is sometimes necessary to throw one's associates under the bus due to the yowlings of the masses. All of these guys know this fact. It isn't about right or wrong. It is about situational ethics and soothing the beasts that make up the unwashed mass (a.k.a. - voters). Politics makes for strange bedfellows - if the yowlings become loud enough, a few sacrificial lambs will be offered up to the crowd - some who are innocent and some who are as guilty as hell. They'll do it to soothe the unwashed masses if it comes down to it - political survival mechanism.

Are you really surprised by Obama on this come on. He's just a used car salesman he talks a good talk but is lying every time he opens his mouth. Obama OWNS this mess now, doesnt matter who created it.

As a woman, I think Spitzer was a
dumb-sh, and was listening to his ego and his pants, but that aside, I'm sure he was set up with his own help of course, just because of who he was going after.

I think he should spill what he already knows in the public press. That should prompt other bits of truth and evidence to come out. Of course the public might rise up one way or another, [not referring to that lame teabag farce]. There's got to be some newspaper that would step forward for that. Think what it would do for circulation.

On the other hand, maybe he can't tell what he knows if it involves 'ongoing' [but never to be finished] investigations].
