"We've just emerged from an era marked by irresponsibility"

"We've just emerged from an era marked by irresponsibility. And it would be easy to choose the path of selfishness or apathy, of blame or division, but that is a danger that we cannot afford."

- Barack Obama, picking up the pieces from two of the worst and most irresponsible US presidents of all time, who of course were baby boomers, the worst and most irresponsible generation of all time, April 2009

"We've just emerged from an era marked by irresponsibility"

Emerged??? Looks like we just kicked irresponsibility into overdrive. What Obama is doing makes the disasterous Bush presidency look like the good old days of fiscal restraint. You can only run trillion $$ deficits for so long before something goes seriously wrong. Look at Argentina, same is bound to happen here. The dollar still is the reserve currency, so it might take a bit longer but therefore the result will be even more chilling.

Are you kidding ! What about obama's responsibility to the citizens of America that weak prick will grovel before the UN and anyone else that will give him a pat on the back right before he signs away the sovereignty of this country.Fuck the bullshit 2 party system enough is enough .

Obammy would like you all to forgive the good folks that stole 5Trillion. He kindly reminds you that is it dangerous to do otherwise.

Swiss banks wil cooperate and continue to hide these kind people.

obama is not change. he is just more of the same. watch and see.

Um, Keith,

you need to read about the public private partnership deal again. That isn't from last year's president.

Obama talks about that "we just emerged from an era of irresponsibility....". Oh dear, well he is just as irresponsible, if not more.

He is just another typical politician. Instead of making the hard choices he is trying to spend our way out of a depression and borrow our way out of debt. Neither of which will do any good and just prolong and worsen our economic problems.

"...because everyone knows the solution to spending too much is to spend twice as much."

president obama...quoting his actions and not his words.

Deficits don't matter.

emerged? is that what the teleprompter said?

emerging from what, exactly? higher and higher deficit spending?

transfer of wealth from tax payers for financial corporations?

but they will find a way to blame it on bush and the "gimme cheese" crowd will believe it.

emerged from a period of irresponsibility?

totally agree. but BO's solution to the problem is more irresponsibility.

no way can more irresponsibility fix the damage caused by irresponsibility.

Sure Keith, out of the frying pan and into the fire we go. Did anyone else notice the CBO announcement that (gasp!) the cost of the TARP payments (to date) is over twice the original projections? When all is said and done, this banker-bailout-bullsh*t is going to cost over $50 trillion dollars. Money that will largely be printed by helicopter Ben and his copilot turbo Timmy.

Consider this - with about 50 million productive wage earners in this country (government slugs don't count), for $50T we could send every one of them a $1M stimulus check. Or, we could have a seventeen year tax holiday for all workers. Of course this will not happen as Mr. Obama struts about and pretends to act in our interest, while his friends and their cronies rake in money looted from taxpayers and Asian savers.

So go ahead Keith, keep giving Obama a pass, take a "wait and see attitude", and watch as the best laid plans turn to sh*t right before your eyes. Clinton, Bush, Mozillo, Dodd, Axlerod, Obama, they will be just fine.

HA! Reminds me of me, back in the day...

8am: "I'm done with drinking"
5pm: "Time to have some drinks!"
8am: "I'm done with drinking"
5pm: "Time to have some drinks!"

Wasn't it Mark Twain who said he quit smoking hundreds of times and it was easy? It's just not starting again that's difficult.

now they are talking a lot about consumer debt.......well golly miss molly. no s***.......

considering we are what is it? 75 percent of GNP. now they are figuring out that is we don't spend money, they can't continue the great charade. heck. all they had to do was give each citizen of the united states, a million dollars each, and you would have seen the greatest economic bubble created in the history of the world......but noooooooooooo, had to bail out their banking buddies and wall street. well guess what? the american consumer is dead. deal with it.....

"...keep giving Obama a pass..."

Might your case be a bit stronger were you to wait for the evidence? Less than 30 left for the first 100 reprise.

Or is it that you doubt it will be damning? Given what we've seen so far...

Maybe it's an educational effort; you will teach the rubes a lesson in cynicism.

Here's mine: now they can say you never gave him a chance, and put the blame on him the day of his nomination.

Better pace yourselves; it's gonna be a long slog(to quote Secretary Gates) till President Palin is elected.

i always enjoyed your blog Keith because you broke down the facts of the Housing Bubble when everyone was talking about how it was different this time. you had enough brainpower to think independently. yet you have been completely suckered into Obama's hope and change routine. I hope he stops whoring the taxpayers to bail out criminal bankers. But i doubt he is going to. His Cabinet is the same bunch of bought and paid for insiders that were around for Bush and Clinton. There is no change. Its all just marketing garbage behind a well spoken smiley face, kind of like the NAR.

I really don't think we lay enough blame on the common man. He lived an unsustainable lifestyle of excessive debt. Obama's spending is meant to prop up prices to continue the consumption/credit party. It is still irresponsible. That is why this bear market rally doesn't mark the bottom of the stock deflation. Obama still believes that America's role in the world is that of the perpetual consumer, and that credit is the life blood of the economy. He is printing money to pay for central bank debts that legally went bad. Rhetoric to the contrary will not absolve him of blame. Certainly he is intelligent enough to know that debt on top of debt is a continuation of the era of irresponsibility.

Here's one vote for BLAME plus some accountability and a dash indictment, a sprinkle of vengence, a pound of flesh and perhaps even some incarceration. How can we go forward without this. What's for (just) dessert?

What do you mean we cannot afford the danger? Our forks are poised...ready and willing.

I submit that Eric Holder is a coward.

Hair of the dog - worked every time! She's a mean, vicious woman, Miss Tequila is...you want out of the relationship but once you get the taste for her she's hard to forget.

Two months ago, the CBO estimated this year's deficit at 1.2 Trillion dollars. They just upped it to $1.8 Trillion. This could easily top $2.5 to $3.0 Trillion before FY2009 is over. Then more of the same as far as the eye can see.

I don't know what will become of "The Retarded Negro", but I am sure glad I don't work for the Secret Service on the presidential detail.

Emerged from an era of irresponsibility? Keith, are you mad? Comments like this are why are read your blog maybe one every couple weeks now instead of several times a day. You just have no idea what you're talking about sometimes.

We just entered phase two. Clinton-Bush-Obama are the worst 3 presidents in a row perhaps of all time. All baby boomers. None worth listening to. All just talking-heads who to me sound like the teacher in Peanuts "blah blah blah blah blah".

Clinton was a smooth talking crook who sold off any state secret that wasn't nailed down while he was nailing interns.

Bush thought he was the "decider", but let Dick "Deficits Don't Matter" Cheney run the show and help to establish his or Saudi Arabia's or Isreal's (not sure which at this point- maybe all) future Middle Eastern Empire.

And Obama is some naive idealistic kid in a candy store with other peoples' money. He doesn't care what he spends aince he probably has a golden parachute too from his special interests.

These people may all be ok as private citizens, but they really bad choices as leaders of our country. We just don't know how to pick 'em anymore.

Or maybe we never did. Nixon anyone? Hoover? I guess we always just have to put up with the latest hack and get by as best we can. Good luck to everyone!
