if you listen to an urban middle class neighborhood high school teacher in la, ca, talk about his students and how only 10% actually want to learn, and the rest dont care, imagine how the inmates in a poor neighborhood high school behave and you have an idea of how the present and future of the usa is and will become. the usa is turning into a third world nation with no middle class.

As for the so called "poor" in America, they still have it good. They still have running water, electricity, indoor plumbing, and food in the fridge. Sorry to be harsh, but in our country, people have so much opportunity to better their own life, but they waste two precious resources; their time and their money.

These are the same big-shot Europeans who not long ago were looting and invading other nations (see list of colonies) in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Latin America, in order to keep their "prosperous" socialist lifestyle alive.
Funny, Europeans rape the natural resources of other countries in order to subsidize their high standard of living, and still have the nerve to brag about how they work less hours, how they take longer vacations, how their nanny government takes care of them.
It's so easy to fake a successful socialist regime when in reality Europe's just stealing diamonds from Africa, gold from Latin America, oil, gems from India, creating slave labor, destroying rain forests to build their naval empire and castles. Then, when that rampant looting ended (not much BTW), Europeans became a parasite of the USA, getting a ride off our inventions (i.e., Internet, microchips, cellular, LED, GPS, barcode, RFID, PC, microwave, A/C, fiber optics, broadband, Wi-FI, etc, etc, etc), and high consumption to enjoy their standard of living.
That's why you have stupid New York Times reporters in love with the socialist Dutch system. Sure, it's easy to kick back while stealing and letting other nations more ambitious and with an achiever click carry the world's economy. We're talking about the same Dutch that set up colonies, forcefully, from Indonesia to the Caribbean, to steal and rape those countries from their natural resources. So Europeans, you were right. We, Americans, are lazy and now we'll stop subsidizing your lifestyle. You socialists take the initiative (tough to do with that embedded communal way of living) to invent something as revolutionary as the Internet or cell phones or microchips to carry the world's economy into the next century. Oh, and while you're at it, come up with other gems like we, Americans, did with Rock 'n Roll, Jazz, Blues, electronic music, etc. And that goes to you too, Asians.

The EU now reckons that Germany will contract by a massive 5.4 percent this year as global demand dries up for the high-value goods such as cars and machinery that the country makes and exports. In January, the EU thought Germany would only shrink 2.3 percent this year.

If it is clearly false, then it will be viewed as such and does not matter. Similarly, if it has some veracity, why should it be deleted, because the truth hurts people's feelings?

The idea of lifetime employment only works if every single new generation is inventing newer goods and services. Up until recently, the USA was that nation.
Here's the real reason why Europe is a failure... petty nationalism/old school ideas vis-a-vis racism. In Germany, there are third generation German citizen Turks, who can't find decent corporate jobs. That's called a poorly assimilating culture. In America, most educated (or experienced) Turks can find work. And within a generation, Turks are like any other eastern European or Mediterranean-descended American provided that they're not Islamicists. This categorization includes Greeks, Italians, and Slavs. There's no difference, once one's an American. True, this applies to white/caucasians more than any other group but still, there's Hawaii and San Francisco which are practically east Asian diasporas, and places like the U.S. Virgin Islands for west Africans. And still, companies on the mainland don't actively discriminate against non-whites in corporate placement which is practically an institution, in itself, for Europe. And finally, unlike Europe, Croats and Serbs, Turks and Armenians, can live in the same country but in peace.
In contrast, the EU members are bickering among themselves with some France-German axis being the dividing line between what's really European and what's not. How pathetic! That would be like calling Britain, America's solo homeland when it only is for less than 25% of the population and even then, it's only when they're in touch with their overseas relatives. Otherwise, even American WASPs will drop the UK connection, if the US was under attack... see War of 1812 or more recently, no support for Britain's Suez crisis in '56. All and all, the US is its own self-contained culture and society with the ability to assimilate others. Europe, in contrast, is a laughable joke.
