I'm sorry Keith. Really, really sorry.

Somehow I think you are sticking to it this time. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't blame you if it is, in part, due to some of those vile posts. By nasty things that only want to pull all others down to their angry, stink-hole level. And it seems like this is the way a big part of our country is going.

Oh BTW, 'greedy' would be another good category to mention here.

Godspeed Keith, I'll miss my favorite blog. Thanks for being objective and fair-minded. Didn't always agree with you, but always respected your thought process.

Too bad Kieth, you are needed, I know it seems dark and that what you're doing isn't much. However, trust me in these heartbreaking times is when men like you are the rallying point for people like me.

I wish you well if you need to go but it's like my situation...I've worked around incredible violence for 8 years...NOW anything else seems stupid and boring...Same with you...You've been here when the times were not only strange BUT HISTORICAL...Now you just want to walk away and pretend you weren't in the mix?

Alas even a computer warrior as yourself has to know that once you do battle (Physical or of wits) nothing ever tastes the same or gets you the same high.

Come back Keith...If full world collapse and madness is on the plate SOON then trust me even websites such as these are what will keep us sane...Help me keep my Tin Foil Hat on tight along with my shotgun.

Keith, just a couple of thoughts:

First, thank you for your courageous efforts over the last several years to speak truth to power. While I strongly disagreed with some of your views on Iran, the UAW, and Obama, you clearly and consistently nailed many of the lies, absurdities and laughable hypocrisies of the previous administration.

Second, please reconsider!!! We need your voice!!! Though I am unaware of your actual motive(s), and do not now presume to question your judgment in the matter, it must be noted that there remains an urgent need for articulate, courageous and uninhibited expressions of indignation, rage and disgust against corrupt systems, policies and leaders. Such expressions of dissent are in infinitesimally small supply. Ultimately, our collective survival as a relatively free, informed and moral society may well depend upon the quality, quantity and volume of our courageous, outrageous and outspoken voices of dissent.

Thanks again. I wish you well. You have been a true patriot.

Don't know if you'll read this Keith...Anyway, I think things changed over the summer. I don't know what/who to believe anymore. I think "The World After the Crash" was another early call. We still don't know what form the crash will eventually take. Will it be like the slow downfall of the Roman Empire? Will we revolt? Will we fight it out amongst the strange fractions that seem to be forming: Republican v. Democrat, Conservative v Liberal, Black v. White, those seeking some kind of security from BIG government vs those seeking liberty with small government, the believers in the rule of law v the lawless, the haters v. the lovers, the rich v. the poor, the tin foil hatters v the straight and narrows, the liars v. truth tellers, the inflationists v. the deflationists and indeed the ignorant v. the well-informed. Is it an epic fight between good and evil? What I seem to see is simply more hate...a very bad omen. I feel like I met a lot of people here that I like and respect and some who just got me angry...I want to thank you again for your contribution and for leading a very worth-while discussion. All the best.

I understand. It is us, not you. The comments - like an attempt at logical discussion with a 3-year old. Why bother? Same on most blogs one visits lately, no matter the initial topic. It is tiresome and depressing.

The best part of this site was the personal stories and good ideas from intelligent posters, much of that now replaced by hate, blame, and divisiveness.

Take care. Hope to see some more writing out of you one fine day.

Keith come back! Where's the OUTRAGE!?!?!?

Wells Fargo exec used Malibu Colony home lost by Madoff-duped couple, neighbors say

Bernard L. Madoff's massive fraud stunned some of the wealthy denizens of Malibu Colony, especially when a couple devastated by the scheme surrendered their oceanfront home to Wells Fargo Bank.

But some neighbors say the real shocker came when they saw one of the bank's top executives spending weekends in the $12-million beach house and hosting eye-catching parties there. What's more, Wells Fargo spurned offers to show the property to prospective buyers, a real estate agent said.

"It's outrageous to take over a property like that, not make it available and then put someone from the bank in it," said Phillip Roman, an 18-year Colony resident who lives a few homes away from the property.

Residents identified the house's occupant as Cheronda Guyton, a Wells Fargo senior vice president who is responsible for foreclosed commercial properties.

Thanks for the strange "pseudo closet liberal" interlude from more important reading. Some of your stuff is brilliant, and other stuff just really sucks (sorry to be so blunt- but it's true). I'll just keep reading and watching Denninger, Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, etc. who have great ideas consistently (and no I don't care if they are always on Fox despite how they mistreated Ron Paul during the election or that they have some guy on like Glenn Beck on - heck that's just one show. I just want to hear what my heroes have to say), don't get overly emotional like you do, don't retire into the sunset and then return all the time like Barbara Streisand or something (weird...). If you feel conflicted over your conservative v. liberal thoughts, at least stay in there and fight for them consistently and constantly. You lose respect each time you "retire". It is difficult to take you seriously. Heck you could always just say something like "I'll be back in a month or but never, ever plan to retire! It is too important not to write about this stuff when I can!" or something like that. That is good, strong language. That would help you get some respect back.

I wish you well in all your endeavors and hope your courage returns...

You've done an awful lot of good writing over the years despite your occasional strange liberal ramblings. So I'll at least check your blog every couple weeks or so...

Keith, one final closing message to Helicopter.

Helicopter we know what you are doing. You aren't fooling anyone.

We know that their is about as much Federal in Federal Reserve as their is in Federal Express.

We know that your business is the American Dollar.

You know that you and your banking buddies allowed this problem and you are trying to save your asses on the backs of hard working U.S. Citizens.

Unfortunately for you the damage is done. We already have inflation Helicopter!!! Have you taken a look at the Dollar recently.

The "expectation" of the U.S. Citizen is that home values and every other debt inflated asset is going down in value and that interest rates and taxes will have to go higher to save not only your ass but you banking buddies and the U.S. Government to pay for all your misdeeds.

We know you are saying lend to the U.S. Citizen but you know you can't lend to people that can't afford a loan. It is that simple and everyone knows that now. It is no longer a secret Helicopter.

So because you Helicopter and your buddies will have to take responsibility for this mess you got us in, why don't you let the American public in on what you are doing with all the U.S. Citizens money.

Why don't you inform all U.S. Citizens that all this money you are printing is going into the stock market through your banking buddies. Why don't you explainm to the little guy where all this money you are printing is going. Or would this not be good for you and your buddies?

You are taking the U.S. Citizens hard work and value that was created since 1776 by hard work and many ultimate sacrifices, with the slight of hand and skill of a card shark. And you think you are fooling the U.S. Citizens.

Nice job Helicopter but the U.S. Citizens are on to you.

Pissed off losers like your banking buddies will scam you and the U.S. Citizen to get a piece of the Helicopter pie because they no longer have any reason to follows laws. If this entity we have attached the word "Federal" to can scam U.S. Citizens than why can't they.

So Helicopter you need to get it through your thick skull that you can't stop deflation by printing dollars!!!!! It has never happened and it never will. You idiot, deflation is happening because debt is being reduced across the board, as it should be and is bringing down all asset values inflated with debt.

Stop pimping the U.S. Dollar and get your head out of your ass and start taking responsibility for this mess you and your banking buddies created.

The U.S. Citizens know that borrowing more than you can afford creates ponzi schemes. So "expectations" are that all asset values are coming down.

So Helicopter, you must have a pretty good read on "expectations" by about now.

So my question to you is this. Are you going to let the U.S. Citizen know which days you will start pulling back all those printed dollars?

You know that once you do this the stock market will crash. I have a lot of friends in the stock market and they would like to know which days you and your buddies plan on pulling back all these printed dollars out of the stock market.

Come on Helicopter when you sit in this meeting this week you could do a lot of U.S. Citizens a favor by letting them know right now that when the time comes you will tell everyone when "you are taking your money out of the stock market". Explain it to the public so they know they should do the same.

Be bold and transparent and let the little guy know which days you are planning for this. We can wait for it to happen. We aren't going anywhere. We can continue to ride the tide right along with you and your banking buddies. And I am certain we can wait for you to stop printing much longer than you can keep printing.

So Godspeed Helicopter. We know you want to save yours' and your banking buddies jobs and your job is the U.S. Dollar. So I say let's just take our medicine right now. OK. Let's do it right now.

Good luck to all and keep your eyes on Helicopter!

I think it is a shame that Obam allowed the right to bully him into saying it is wrong to put down American that cannot pull their weight when the truth is most right wingers want to put down those in public housing and on wealfare.

Something about how people like Moore's dad could live decent middle-class lives and America was a productive nation when union power was high, and how Japan and Germany manage to function just fine with powerful unions. Keith would never agree with that kind of rot applying to America!

OK, Keith, so you're NOT the fat guy. But I still reckon you'll like the film, if you haven't seen it already.

Well, Keith I am glad you posted all the comments that happened after you left. I like to read them. This is the most interesting blog to me.

This is the one where I think an average person is posting and is most sincere. (Some are just junk nad some are so obviously not the mainstream.)

I can't blame you for not wanting to do this any more. I'm sure it has been a lot of work.
You have done a lot. You ask a lot of good questions. You find a lot of pertinent information that makes us all think about things and try to find out more.

I just want to say thank you. You are missed. I am not a good writer and often think "Oh why did I say that?", but it was nice to be able to... I have no blog to write to and not many that I want to read, any more.

Sail on,
patrat

I am not against Obama, but... I wonder - he said he would clean up Washington - get rid of the lobbyists, the waste, etc. I don't see it happening.

I am curious - how may "Bureaus of ..." and "Federal Offices of..." etc,etc (you do know that once they are in existence they never go away,,,,) are in the current game in Washington, and how many employees do they all have, and how much money do they get and what do they do?

That is my question.

Also, what do I tell my Nephew ... Work for the gmnt??

OK the swine flu thing. I got the vaccine in 1976. I had to sign a release to get it. I was in bed struggling not to die for a week. My muscles did wierd things. I saw the tunnel. I drew a picture of it.

I think that the recent screwing of the American public by the banks and the Gmnt has completely destroyed trust in the media and anything gmnt, including the swine flu thing. It is equivalent to the gmnt crying wolf, (just for the money, of course). I don't know anyone that has the swine flu nor do I expect to.

There is a truth somewhere, but you can not find it in anything you see or hear from gmnt or in the mainstream media.

Ok Here's the Deal. The so- called banks were not really banks. They were the House Casino.

What they did is they took your money from your 401K and used it to bet on bad mortgages. They bet that the mortgages would fail!!!

AIG insured the bad mortgages but never had the money to cover any bets.

Everybody was just in it to get theirs and get out. No one had to hold the mortgages - eveyone could take risks without any resposnibilty.

Even worse, it paid off to take immense risk, there was the incentive by the lenders to get the insurance payoff ( AIG), without holding the mortgage. The Bass brother couldn't even believe what a windfall he was looking at.
And now we the taxpayere are covering the "house", we are making the bets good by our hard labor. It is slavery.

So there it is. Should someone go to jail? I think so.

Why are we so complacent?

The internet?

I am in the middle of watching "Fall of the Republic" and suddenly got an irresistible urge to yell in to the darkness of SootAndAshes. If you are reading this, you owe yourself a viewing of this movie.

I am actually sick to my stomach right now. If even 25% of this documentary is true, we are in some serious trouble. I think it's pretty clear who the enemy is at this point and it's not a bunch of coked up mortgage brokers and bubble head realtors.

On the bright side, it's football season... GO CARDS!!!

November 1, 2009. Amazing how all of our problems have magically gone away. No more major failures, no recession, the large banker bonuses are back, no changes to the current system necessary after the greatest financial meltdown ever. Everything is great. It all makes total sense.

Hey Keith,
Nothing much going on here in Selma. Bathroom reading at my cousin's house was Peter Schiff, and on cover of Yale magazine.
Noticed my republican cousins husband dragged it out from under the pile and was actually reading it after two months.
Schiff is 65 or so???
He looks great.
Money can buy youth.
Kind of boring here, but really great.
Anyway Daily Show coming on.

Come back, Keith! I am reading David Brooks. Yes, it is that bad.

patrat said...

We have a little problem. We have to figure out what we want to be like. And we have to have the backbone to stand up for it.
It is no different than being a teenager. What is our future? Do we hang out in the bar pretending everyone is our friend?
Or do we get on with a productive life? And call a spade a spade. ( A spade is a digging tool, nothing more nothing less.)

So here we are. What do we do?

A woman said today that if welfare people should be tested for drugs, then so should all of Congress. Same thing. I agree.

And if some of Congress has had bad tax reviews, where they didn't pay, then all of Congress should have those reviews, because there have been quite a few in both parties. I agree.

I actually think one of our biggest problems is the Government.

We have a lot of work to do.

We don't want to collapse the whole system. It would be chaos. We have to be careful. We just want to return to the right things.

There IS such a thing as the "right things". We all know it in our hearts.

We are now one year since the end of Housing Panic. You ended the site because you were so confident that Obama would fix everything. then you prematurely called the end of the Great Recession around last May before you took off.

We know know for a fact Housing Panic was shut down early. Housing prices continue to fall and foreclosures are still high.

Your buddy Obama has done everything to get consumers to consume again all while giving out what looks like free money. You have continued to endorse Schiff all while Schiff does not have anything good to say about Obama and his policies. You continue to hate Pelosi and Ried but cannot compute that Obama is in the same bed with them.

You are too much of a chicken shit to admit you have been blatantly wrong since you started backing Obama roughly 15 months ago. Your ass has been handed to you and you hide like a coward.

C'mawn you know you gotta come back, you can't resist.
Just look at the headlines:
Lawrence Yun is saying real estate prices will be up 5% next year, sales up 15%.
How can you resist? First-time buyers are driving sales. The number of people "investing" in real estate has doubled since March.... (Marketwatch)
Roubini warns of asset bubbles (including gold). FHA reserve plunges.
Signs of Armageddon have not subsided.

I see you approved a new batch of comments. Testing the water to see who's still watching?

Well hello from Vancouver. I gotta change my screen name and avatar. It's calm here, except for their housing bubble. Same as had re-developed in Australia, especially where I lived in Melbourne. I don't even bother to say "bubble" to people because they don't want to hear. It's like they didn't just see what happened to the U.S. a mere two frickin' years ago.

I think a lot about the house price to annual income ratio. I see house prices going up wildly in Oz and Caunckia, but people aren't getting pay raises. It cannot continue... But I don't care about trying to teach people who are not inclined to learn. They'll find out soon enough, when interest rates go up. Meanwhile, I'm happy to rent.

Anyway, Canadians are SUCH nice people -- polite, intelligent, helpful... And boring as all hell.

Sorry, Keith's Canadian readers. You're great folks, like Swedes who speak English. (Actually, most Swedes CAN speak English -- they're as smart as Canadians.) Americans should be more like Canadians. So should Brits. But I'd rather be amongst those loveable, frivolous, happy-drunken Aussies.

Ah well, at least I'm not in gun-mad, collapsing America. Doomed, doomed I tell ya...

I guess San Francisco is expecting a huge wave of foreclosures still in 2010/11. I was going to buy in Santa Barbara but it is a pimped up puffed up shit hole full of LA rejects. I don’t care any more, I am buying an education. I hate realtors.

And now this idiot president of ours says "we" will have a double dipper if "we" pile on too much debt. I don't know about this "we" shit because I not up to my eyeballs in fucking debt! This guy is stimulating more debt at gov an at personal levels with tax credits for houses and free money for new cars and this idiot wants to warn caution about too much debt. He is begging people to go into to debt and consume all so he can show how he saved the economy.

All while Keith is too much of a chicken shit to admit he was horribly wrong about this guy. Stay in you hole jackass!

Noodles123-

5 years ago I came to the original keith site and sold my properties.

4 years ago the crash slowly started and I started getting worried

3 years ago I gloated in a way BUT started getting more worried as the crash started picking up speed

2 years ago I started prepping for a collapse of some kind...(Note: most cities are 3 days from becoming hellholes)...Most friends scoffed

1 year ago I started keeping quiet and prepping because the crash will come...Not saying Mad Max type but probably Argentina Style

Present...Waiting for the other shoe to drop...Very thankful to Keith...Even though this site spoke on economic issues it gave a window into serious issues like:

What if...? (Things that seemed crazy 2 years ago are now more than possible)

Guns/ammo/silver/gold/food...LOL who would have thought I'd be thinking like some Idaho White Miltia Guy :P
