Here's an excerpt from Obama's speech to schoolkids that some idiots are pulling their kids out of class this week so as not to hear

You know, I guess it's good that some Fox-News-watching, misinformed, ignorant
idiots parents are keeping their kids out of school this week, forbidding them to hear a message about studying and pursuing their dreams from the President.

Why?

Because we'll need some kids to grow up to serve us our burgers and clean our toilets (and be realtors, if that job still exists).

(note to any American kids reading this - if your mom or dad watch Fox News and Glenn Beck all day, think about running away now. You'll be glad you did.)

Prepared Remarks of President Barack Obama Back to School Event

The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.
It’s the story of students who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. Students who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.
So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?
Your families, your teachers, and I are doing everything we can to make sure you have the education you need to answer these questions. I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you’ve got to do your part too. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.
Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.

Keith its not just right wingers and its not just about Obama poisoning them with evil "liberal" thoughts. You are smarter than that Keith.

Some just think he's a liar and do not want to have to disect the "speech" for their kid's consumption.

Some are really mad at him and have every right to protest him.

Sure that was a good speech but do you have to listen to Beck or Hannity to be skeptical of things like this:

"I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn."

Bull shit! He's working hard to funnel as much of our tax dollars as humanly possible to bankers and Wall Street. No shit huh?

He's also working feverishly to ensure the fat cats don't experience a loss even if it means piling an unimaginable debt load onto our CHILDREN. You know, the one's in the schools he's preeching at?

My kid asked me why bankers were still getting $100 million bonuses while everyone else is learning to make do with less, INCLUDING the schools which have been dealing with MASSIVE cutbacks for the past year, and right now!

Maybe from England it seems "O" is all for education but here on the front lines its nothing but cutbacks.

I'll raise my kids to not waste time listening to liars, no matter how eloquent they may be.

Al Queeferino,

They are called "useful idiots" and they exist on the right as well as the useful idiots on the left that elected "The Retarded Negro". Glad to see Obama running into problems while pushing his socialist agenda.

Dr. Huxtable said...

This is just another sign of how we are overrun with ignorant monkies in positions of power (government) and media.

What kind of an extremist a#$-hole would not want their kid to hear a non-political message from the commander and chief of their country? Answer: Ignorant trash not worth the skin God gave them or the air they breathe.

If Obama comes out and says "children, socialism is great, only vote for democrats, tell your parents to vote Obama in '12, gay marriage is o.k., call this 800# and report your parents activities" then people have every reason to complain. But my god, this is clearly a responsible and very commendable action by Obama.

These ignorant fools are wasting their energy and time trying to create an issue when no possible issue in this speech exists. Unbelievable!!!

Come on Keith..those remarks are likely NOT the original remarks. Why didn't the WH release those remarks prior to all the hubbub about it? Its obviously been changed to be more education based. Anyone can tell that its far easier to say "See, this is all it was" after the controversy than before it.

Ok, I was expecting some pitch about how we all have to sacrifice so the bankers can get away with 24 Trillion.

Effective leaders derive their authority from people who admire the examples they set in their lives and actions. They are credible men and women who speak the truth, and who inspire young people to do extraordinary things. George Washington is an example that comes to mind.

Phony autocrats primp and preen and use mass media to make announcements. They caution children about the dangers of smoking, and then continue to smoke in secret. They talk about ending a useless, expensive war, and then send thousands more Americans to die in it. They tell us the federal deficit will be cut in half within four years, and then spend trillions on every wasteful program imaginable. They call for transparency and competency in government, and then hire former lobbyists and political pals with no experience to make secret deals with the rich and powerful.

Yes, Keith, I can't understand why anyone would not want their kid to listen to a guy like Barack Obama. He da Man!

Keith you need help . Are you so blind as to see whats going on . Or do you think that when Obama took an oath to obey and protect the constitution of the U.S.A and then systematically continues the course that bush started IE patriot act etc in order to undermine it . Is this acceptable to you .
Glenn beck might come across as an ass but dispute the facts that he has the courage to address . May i suggest that you get your head out from between Obama's butt cheeks and stop calling people you do know what is going on idiots .What future and dreams does Obama want these kids to believe in . The only future they have is being mortgaged to the hilt by his corrupt and spineless policies or is it that the kids and illiterate are the only one's who still buy into his never ending bullshit.

Anonymous said...

Why does this have to be about dems or reps? Why can’t it be a protest about lying?

Hope and change my ass! More like “meet the new boss, same as the old lying a-hole boss”.

“Yes we can” my ass! More like “yes the bankers can”!

Can’t we just be Americans and make a stand? You don’t get many opportunities to send a loud and clear NO to a president. He’s gonna hear about the folks keeping their kids from being sat in front of a box to hear his eloquent lies.

Keith what happened to the Tea Party Keith. What happened to the summer of anger? We finally get the people standing up a bit and you marginalize the message and try and devolve it down to angry red necks and right wingers?

No child is going to be damaged by missing that speech; but… hopefully Obama will get a message.

The liar:
“I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.”

Keith has Obama let millions of American’s down by selling out to the bankers? Has he made the voters “proud”, you know the ones who listened to him and “voted for change”?

A lot of folks expected “great things” from HIM and he is all but flying a big fat bird in our faces as he proves to us once and for all that politicians lie and Gov. is run by bankers and Wall Street.

The more of that speech I read the more angry I become.

Let’s all listen to the hypocrite liar because he’s handsome and talks well! F-me.

America is doomed.

I don't remember being pulled out of class during Reagan and Bush Sr. addresses to schoolkids.

I would imagine parents in India, Brazil and China, who out-study US kids 5 to 1 (guess), are laughing at us. We will be their bitches if this keeps up.

Fox News, talk radio and the internet is f*cking everything up. And I'm not sure pandora can go back in the box.

I may stop blogging again soon. I'm not sure if it's worth it. It's like doing the dishes on the Titanic.

Keith I for one agree with your Fox News stand and I hate Hannity and Rush as much as you maybe. Still I love a good rebellion!

Don’t run away mad Keith. Maybe there are two sides to this issue?

Some want to make a stand over dishonesty in Government. Walk the talk or shut-up kinda folks. Some are ignorant red necks programmed by Fox.

I’d think you of all people would want to recognize the 1st group and cheer them on.

However, I’ll give you this….Fox/Rush/Hannity will probably jump on this and claim it as thier own; and in the process make it dirty.

Yeah Keith, why don't you quit blogging? If we want to listen to an effete expat telling us what a bunch of stupid idiots we are, we have Max Kieser. In the mean time, those of us who actually live here are thrashing around for the truth. Most are frightened and know they've been duped. Watching my fellow Americans wake up has been a great joy. We are going to have a rough patch, maybe very rough. But the green-left is going to join with the second-amendment-right, and we're going to take our country back.

Open letter to Pres. Obama,

You made all sorts of wonderful promises to the adult population of America in order to get elected. You have yet to live up to anything and instead have proven yourself every bit the same in regards to handing the keys to the country over to the bankers and Wall Street.

This has left us dismayed, depressed (unemployed) and maybe this is the last nail in our coffin of “hope”.

This has been a wonderful eye-opener. I wonder if you could find a way to effect a massive let down on this scale to our children?

So far they just suffer from the unemployment and school cuts while bankers continue to pull down mega million dollar bonuses under your watch. Won’t you take time to address the young people directly and finalize your attack on the last shreds of hope being clinged to? Tell them lies Obama.

Why should the adults have all the fun?

Keith maybe you are missing the rage you were blogging about. This may be your baby, I think you should be proud! You opened eyes and made us justifiably angry!

Really Keith? Really?

He’s a humongous liar. What is a better message:

1) Ignore that he lied and let us down and make nice by letting him have what he wants (the speech).

2) Sending the message: fool me once shame on you…………….

Dude it’s just a speech, no kid is going to be harmed if their parents pull them out for the hour of the speech. Our kids will learn much more about peaceful protest and Government if they experience some power instead of sitting in front of the box they were told to sit in front of.

Maybe this will get the kids talking instead of just all of them being zombies doing what they are told?

blogger said...

I'd love to go to the room of Fox News kids tomorrow (whose ignorant parents told the school not to let them watch the President)

Some of those kids I'd bet are just ashamed (of their parents). Some will have been indoctrinated (hey, if Fox is on all day, it kinda becomes the parent). And some will have no idea what's going on, even if their fate has already been sealed (would you like fries with that?)

America got away with producing ignorant kids in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Now, a generation of fools will kill it.

The kids of China, India, Japan, Russia and Brazil will make sure of it.

Keith why do YOU believe parents should do what Obama wants?
Is it because…

1) What he is saying is truthful and honest?

2) He’s to be respected?

3) He’s trustworthy?

4) What he is saying is soooo important that reading on the web just won’t have enough impact?

5) No one but an ignorant Red Neck would dare defy such orders?

6) Fox News owns this protest?

And…..

Why do YOU believe it’s so awful to protest him and the Gov. by organizing a “sit out”?

Don’t just throw out “ignorant” bombs with no explanation.

Expand please.

Oh yeah, and one hour of class (speech) is not the deal breaker in our children's competetive edge with the rest of the world.

GT - the President, no matter who he or she is, no matter what party he or she is from, no matter anything, has the responsibility to address the nation, including schoolkids.

If politics have become so poisoned (thank you Fox News) in the US that a US president can't address schoolkids about studying and working hard, then America truly is doomed.

And BTW it's not doomed. Even Fox News can't stop a president from doing what he or she needs to do.

Not yet.

And I truly, truly feel sorry for the kids that have to suffer the shame of their parents tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah I forgot this too.... One hour out of class won't hurt our kids but the huge budget cuts our schools are experiencing might hurt them, ya think?

Keith you do know we are having huge budget cuts to our schools don't you? Despite what obama says in his speech. Don't lies like that bother you?

Speech:
"I’m working hard to fix up your classrooms and get you the books, equipment and computers you need to learn."

Truth:
http://tinyurl.com/School-budget-cuts

This may not be as heinous if it were not for the fact that at the very same time he/them is/are giving our tax dollars to bankers and Wall Street, who in turn pass it on to the most favored in the form of multi-million bonuses.

He takes money from schools, he gives money to bankers and Goldman, these things we know, or should know.

If his speech said that (the truth) then I’d be all for letting everyone watch it.

Giving someone respect they have not earned just to idolize their title is not something I am for.

Keith, even you have to admit that Obama giving an assignment to kids on the website stating "write a letter as to how you can help out the President" PRIOR to any of the text of his speech being released reeks of Hitler/Hussein/Jong Il??? Surely you can see there was a big boneheaded move made by the White house?

JAWS said...

This is really causing a stir among adults. From the kids perspective, are they waiting anxiously for this speech?

I don't really get why a president is giving a speech to school kids anyway. If he was live in the classroom (reading from something right side up), that might be different, although I'm really disappointed in this president and it just gets worse. If I had school kids now, as disappointed as I am in his performance so far, I might take my kids to Disneyland for the day.

I sincerely hope you keep this blog going - I read about half-dozen a day and this is my favorite.

Keith,

Many of the really ignorant posters represent what I call "the one-third".

During the Revolutionary War, these folks were the ones who fought on the side of the British. They even helped out England during the War of 1812 (treason).

They supported slavery (still do), the subordination of women, were against going to war to liberate Europe from Hitler and fought for the preservation of segregation.

The "one-third" has always been with us. They have always been against everything that has moved the US ahead.

If at any time in our history the "one-third" had prevailed, we would not have become the United States nor would we have become a democracy.

The attack on liberty and freedom has always come from the "one-third". Their hero is Benedict Arnold.

Some of the posters here may not know that. They may not know who Arnold is.

What is wrong with this speech? Telling kids to wash their hands and work hard? Oooohh, terrible.

I think every adult in this country can agree that most if not ALL politicians are LIARS at this point.

Why don't you keep your kids home from school every day if you fear for their abilities to think for themselves? If you are so afraid of institutionalizing them then why send them to school at all?

Protest by keeping your kids home if you want, but I hope for society's sake that you are teaching them all of the good messages that are contained in that speech.

And, btw, I totally remember being forced to watch Reagan speeches in grade school.

Keith you're right, that's why BHO is going straight to the kids because he knows the adult children are a lost cause. Unfortunately, education focused on "marketable" skills (engineering, math, science) will not produce adults with the citizenship skills needed to turn this boat. The hard changers will just have a slightly better chance of getting out of steerage and into one of the (increasingly fewer) third-class cabins.

Our civil discourse is dead because of globalization. In a global economy governments can no longer make real decisions lest they receive the mother of all economic whoopins from the rest of the world. This is why it's all Hannity & Maddow, gay marriage, abortions, politicians' biographies & other meaningless cultural minutiae--the real policy decisons are all faits accomplis (e.g. universal healthcare, bailouts, Afghan war, etc.)

That being said, you wash those dishes because they're dirty. And you keep washing because that's the one thing that you are better at than everyone else. Don't give up.

Why do we need to have the President of the United States on a CCTV broadcast to our children?

Why does this just seem like an act of desperation by a rapidly failing administration?

I would keep my child (if I had one) home from school on the day of the speech just as I would have when G Bush I did it.

Our children do not need to be worried about what the President of the United States wants them to do. He is an elected official that they did not have any say in. Telling children to work hard, study and follow their dreams is the job of their parents, not the head of the Executive Branch of our three-tiered government.

I couldn't disagree with you more about this Keith. I really hope you can look beyond the left-right lie that is being exposed before our very eyes.

I am shocked that anyone would feel comfortable with this. I am shocked that the Obama Administration is already this desperate.

For the first time in a long time, I feel like the people of this country are actually standing up for what they believe in. I go to bed every night fearing for our future but hopeful for a return to the America that I grew up on.

Obama doesn't get it and he never will. Start the countdown to 2012.

As a follow up to my previous post, I do not watch poisonous FoxNews, CNN or MSNBC or even clips of them. If the FCC had any credibility, they would re-designate all three as "entertainment" because that's what they are.

The final step after realizing that the side you hate is corrupt and lying is to realize that the other side is the same way.

2012 will be great but the upheaval coming in 2010 will be great too.

To reiterate my previous thoughts, there is no logical reason for the President of a Constitutional, Representative Republic to make a private speech to the children of said Republic with only a single instructor there to supervise the message's contents and children's reactions.

I thought this was America, but I guess I was wrong. GHW Bush and Reagan shouldn't have done it either, but the sheeple are a little bit more angry about things this time around and aren't going to stand for it.

The shrieks of protest from right-wingers who are afraid of their children hearing a meaningless speech from Hopey remind me of the Soviet commissars who were SO afraid of anti-communist opinions that they'd censor everything. How weak is your ideology that you're scared it will crumble if anything outside the mindset is presented? Will 20 minutes of Obama brainwash your children so much that it erases 12 years of parental indoctrination?

I'm with you on America's dim future, Keith. Think of what the soon-to-be Disunited States were like in 1859, with so many Americans hating each other over slavery. Now the fault lines of division go so many other ways too, in addition to the traditional South-North white-black ones. It's like the U.S. is a sheet of ice, with cracks running every which-way. As the economic stress level increases, I don't see solidificaion, only more splintering.

After he has a "talk with the children", he needs to have a "talk with the parents" and tell them to get more involved in their childrens educations. By that, I mean the basics (Math, Science etc.) and not political indoctrination/education.

very interesting read from a book to be released today about the Republican party by Max blumenthal. The link has a lot of good stuff for ya Keith. Here's a few select quotes from the author:

http://www.democracynow.org/2009/9/4/republican_gomorrah_inside_the_movement_that

And so, when John McCain won the nomination, he knew that he needed to bring the Christian right around. I mean, there was no way, other way, that he was going to win the Republican base, considering how loathed he was for denouncing Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson as agents of intolerance. So his advisers realized that Dobson was very favorable to Sarah Palin, because whatever her qualifications were, however experienced she was, however articulate or inarticulate she was, she embodied the culture of personal crisis that I talk about in my book, Republican Gomorrah, that so many, you know, people in the Christian right identify with.

But that’s what the Republican Party had become, the party of Palin. So what happened was, John McCain won three percent more of the conservative vote than George W. Bush, who was a hardcore conservative, and lost 20 percent of the moderate votes that George W. Bush had, even though McCain was seen as a moderate. That’s because of selecting Palin, because he had to cater to what the Republican Party had become.

Not one Fox News type “He’s not a US citizen”, “He’s black” or “Rush said so” or “he wants our guns” post to be had, yet some can’t let it go.

There just has to be a Fox News right winger connection with you people.

Disagree = Fox News zombie

Jeez :(

This harmless speech sets the stage for...

O B A M A G A N D A
(Propaganda)

I say let the kids choose, but also let them watch an opposing viewpoint or commentary if they so choose.

That is freedom.

They are pulling their kids out because what the redneck conservatives want in this country is Republican FASCISM, and the first requirement of fascism is ignorance.

Rednecks are suspicious and distrustful of intelligence and being educated, and are PROUD of their ignorance, and refuse to let anyone, ESPECIALLY the smartest, most articulate president we've had in my lifetime, take their ignorance away from them!

"Obama doesn't get it and he never will. Start the countdown to 2012."

Would you have preferred President Palin?

NOBODY could do a good job as President of the United States in 2009. It's essentially a fool's errand.

The majority of the people that blog here have major problems in accepting a Black man as President. Face the fact he aquired the current fiscal mess from President Bush. You can not blame Obama for the failures of another President. Obama is trying hard to corect the many messes left behind by Bush.

Obama's ratings have plummeted because he's gone back on all his campaign promises.

I am not sure that this is the original version, but I see nothing wrong with this speech, except that it is a little too pie in the sky. It needs to be said to the kids - work hard, etc, but the part about parents only applies to about 50% of them today.

One problem that I see in the schools, is in fact the parents. Many, many kids do not have what I, as a baby boomer, had. They get moved and pulled in and out of schools several times a year. They have only one parent, or worse, multiple fathers, mothers, "uncles", and "brothers and sisters" that come and go with all different names ... "parents" with tattooed skulls and devils all over them and metal stuck everywhere on their faces -lewdly dressed, no manners "Here's Mommy!" ... a horror show to me, but maybe I'm just old fashioned. They come in rude tee-shirts that the parents think are cute... by the time they get to high school they have absolutely no respect for anyone.

At "home" many kids today are brought up/pawned off on video games while their "parents" do their thing on the computer or the wide wide wide life dominating screen. They have no safe place to play outside, so they are kept inside with all this stuff. No exercise, junk food diet which their lunch boxes also contain. I am so glad that I did not have to grow up with all that.

The schools and underpaid teachers are left to pick up all the slack. This is a major problem IMHO. His speech was good but maybe he should address some parents too. Also the crudeness, thuggery and gansterism that in my opinion has been taking over the country. (Why is it that bullying and "put downs" - anger IMHO - are such a problem in schools these days?) It's all related.

P.S. Did you know that you can't mention Christmas in schools today? Can't have it on a poster or a piece of artwork either. No Christmas carols. I loved how beautiful they were and the sentiment behind them. Can't mention that culture - only all the other ones.

Sorry - got carried away. Maybe things aren't quite that bad. Maybe they are getting better. I hope.
