You get one life.

Isn't life too short to be a realtor?

Isn't life too short to live in Newark. Or Detroit. Or Las Vegas?

Isn't life too short to be a tea bagger, or Fox News zombie?

Isn't life too short to spend it buying cheap crap you don't need at Walmart?

Jumping off cliffs in wing suits might be the answer for some. Raising a family and living a moral life might be the answer for others.

Just remember, life is short.

Enjoy it.

Wasting a life seems so subjective.

Wasn't it just four years ago when many real estate professionals and the media were saying HPers who blogged in Housingpanic were just wasting their life and instead should join everyone else in buying the American dream.

Looking back who really hyped the American dream.

Life's not "out there"

One can indeed be 'dead and buried' above ground as well as beneath it. Our protective state of denial about our own death makes us tend to fritter our lives away as if we have forever, instead of just a short period in a conscious state with options to spend that time in enlightened ways. The poorer classes can't afford many of those options, but do they really need to waste their free time in front of the tv with a huge bag of Cheetos? Is that all there is? Religious fundies just think of this as God's waiting room and the real fun will begin after they croak. Again, a waste.

Wow -- that's amazing. I had no idea people were doing shit like that. Rocky the Flying Squirrel, eh?

In New Zealand, especially around Queenstown on the South Island, they do all sorts of "adventure sports" but I never heard of base jumping with wing suits there. Then again, I'm behind the curve.

I used to have a yen for hang gliding. In the summer of 1980, I spent the summer on a kibbutz. One day I drove up to the Golan Heights and was standing on the cliffside above the Sea of Galilee where some guys were gliding off. Being that close and watching them launch their bodies into the air hit me as hella risky. Fun to watch, but too much adrenalin for my blood even in my 20s. Good onem for doing it, tho.

Even if you live in Detroit or Las Vegas, the best way to get a life is to take a moment every day to groove on what's going right in yours. Be thankful. That, along with the Golden Rule, is all you need for a religion.

And if you can't find anything to be thankful about, it's a good time to consider topping yourself.

Life's too short to make it shorter doing that.

Cool video though.

Great stuff, Keith. The Documentary Channel recently had a show on ex-base jumper Karina Hollekim called "20 Seconds of Joy".

The thing is, people with children shop at Walmart to buy essential things like diapers and paper towels at affordable prices.

They live in places like Newark because they have jobs there that provide health insurance for children who need medical care.

And they listen to Fox News because the mainstream media is tilted way to the left and pretends it's not. They are seeking balance.

If everyone lived like a self-indulgent adolescent, who would raise the next generation.

Immanuel Kant's categorical imperative states: What would happen if you made it a law that everyone else must do as you do?

If the whole world decided not to bother raising children (as is happening all over Europe) in order to go on endless bungee-jumping vacations...the result would be the end of civilization in one generation.

The ones wasting their lives are the ones with no stake in posterity.

Raising a family is life's greatest adventure and joy.

And don't be a snob about towns that aren't trendy.

This stunt will wind up in the next James Bond movie.

I'd pay good money to watch a bunch of realtors do that.

No way am I waisting mine Kieth!

I left one of the worst cities in the country...St. Louis Mo. for Southern Californa 10 years ago and have been having the time of my life ever since. Don't get me wrong this place has some serious issues but all in all you can't beat it!

I have worked in TV, in front as well as behind the camera. I was a club and concert promoter in Hollywood for a few years. I have Traveled 90% of the US, and spent some time in Mexico and Canada. I was one of the first people in the country to drive the new Camaro SS last year. (I rented it) before dealers began to recieve thier orders. Speaking of rental cars I rent a Corvette for a weekend around my birthday. I drive a paid off BMW Touring. I didn't buy a house in 2005 so when I lost my job last year I didn't panic. I went on vacation!!! Then back to school to study International politics and the history of Jazz.

I fill up the car and take my family on drives to places we haven't been before for the day. I just got back from San Diego tonight. Stayed at a 4 Star resort for $70.00 a night (shout out to Priceline.com) and got upgraded to a Villa just for the asking.

I lost 40lbs. and started eating Tomatos. I call my 90 year old grandmother to just say hello, not because it's a holiday.

I strive to learn all I can, have an open mind, keep a positive attitude (although it's hard everytime I think about Mozillo and everything that transpired over the last decade).

I take time to help others and talk to young kids and adults about life and how the choices they make now can affect them for years. I strive to live life to the fullest and be a good person overall.

I got married a few years ago, had a kid and we spend most afternoons at Newport beach since I get off work at 2:00PM.

I am not rich but I have everything I need and most of what I want! When I meet other people from St. Louis that moved here we joke that we made out!

I am in my late 30's so I feel like I am just getting started. I work for an International Television company and my plan is to someday transfer to another country to live for a few years and raise my child to be a great person.

Keith if I were to leave here today. I have no regrets and it's been a great ride.

PS. I love to say I told you so to people who said I was a fool to think that housing would crash. LOL...

Which is exactly what is happening in the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, Russia, Japan, Korea, and China. The oral contraceptive pill is the white/asian suicide pill. No one else uses it.

Meanwhile the population growth of turd world countries is off the freaking charts. This is why the average IQ worldwide is plummeting. The world is becoming Haiti.

Keith your commentary gave me one of the best laughs in a while. Thanks!

Isn't life to short to be all that concerned with what others are choosing to do with their lives???

Especially if it has no direct impact on your own?

Actually, 50% of US citizens get less than 1/3 of a life.

That is, 1/3 of one's life is spent sleeping, leaving 2/3's of one's life.

For 50% of us, 1/2 of the 2/3's that is left is spent working in order to pay taxes.

And, if you think about it, most people probably only get about 25 hours/week to themselves (1 hour/day and 20 on the weekends) to do what THEY want to.

So, about 15% of their lives is really theirs.

And, you and your boy want to have us work harder and pay more in taxes.

"...people with children shop at Walmart to buy essential things like diapers and paper towels at affordable prices."

Oy vey! Disposable diapers and paper towels are in NO WAY essential. They are just two of the millions of consumable lifestyle products foisted upon us as "essentials" by P&G et al in the past 75 years. Cotton diapers and towels can be purchase once, quite reasonably, and used and reused for many, many years. Even when they cease to function properly, they can find a useful second life as rags.

If you have money to burn go ahead and buy them, but don't pretend that having kids somehow makes it any less of a waste. Good grief.

Life is short

then you die.

Then what?

Nothingness or Heaven or Hell?

Most say, "if your good, you go to Heaven".

Really?

Heaven is a realm of belief in a creator, a biblical reference

Not just some pollyannish bounce of the pinball flipper

Matthew 7:21 states,

"Not everyone who say's to me, 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

So maybe just give a little thought to your hereafter

Yes, Life is short!

But, through a belief in Christ it doesn't have to be,

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall Not perish but have ever lasting life"
