Daycare job didn't work out. They weren't hiring at Macy's. OK, guess the next logical choice is to be a hooker.

Watch this video.

Is money this important to people?

You have to wonder what percent of strippers and hookers used to be realtors.

World's oldest profession. Doing just fine during the world's greatest financial crash.

Prostitution is just too dangerous. I can see someone getting AIDS from that.

Just the thought of herpes is enough to turn me off and make me go limp downstairs.

A whore is a whore, is a whore.

Sorry, but she ALWAYS was one and that is the case with the rest of them.

She said that she put in all these apps and no one called her... that is bullcrap. Taking that little fairy-tale at face value it is still laughable because:

1) fast-food joints and retail clerks wouldn't call her back. Yeah. Kinda suspect she has a criminal record as long as the highway.

2) Just throwing an app out there like she did will get you jack, in this case not so much as a phone call. If you want a job, if you need one, you have to follow through by making sure to contact them back and etc.

3) If she was willing to actually *FLY IN* for a job at a *BROTHEL*... sorry but the employment problem isn't nearly that bad yet folks. For me it would NEVER get that bad.

But I digress, a whore is a whore. She did this because she wanted to.

roblem is most American women are fat walruses and elephants...they won't be able to get more then $5 a handjob...

WOW! REALTORS will make up 90% of this field in the future. Especially the part about "I turned in 20 to 30 applications and nobody would hire me." If you want to keep the Benzo, better get dirty.

I don't have any problem with prostitutes. It's a life choice. I do have a problem with the government outlawing prostitution and making it a dangerous black market for prostitutes and their clients though.

Other nations have made prostitution legal to great success. Brothels are licensed and must meet government standards for health and safety.

America is still in the dark ages when it comes to drugs and prostitution.

would this "career" path foreclose almost all job opportunities after age 45?

it would be interesting to know what % have an expensive drug habit

I for one don't see anything wrong with her decision. For some people, material comforts are needed and they will do whatever it takes to obtain and keep them.

Except that most American men are fat hippopotamuses and whales...they have to be charged twice as much to be "serviced".

Lamaria said...

"I do have a problem with the government outlawing prostitution and making it a dangerous black market for prostitutes and their clients though."

LOL!

It's a dangerous "life choice" period. There is no safe way to be a hooker or have them in your society. It will always, always be part of a crappy and undesirable subculture because only certain people would ever participate in it.

Health checks and standards? Whatchu talkin bout Willis??

You do realize that you can carry and spread HIV/AIDs your entire life and it might never be detected? And if they do detect it, now what? You think they'll stop hooking? You think they'll let their clients know, or vice versa? How about the new diseases that arise from it, that are potentially epidemic, such as super TB?

Legalizing it only validates such detrimental people and their culture, legalizing it will only make it worse.

As for other nations, the immediate thought is of third-world nations. Other nations also allow children to be pimped out. It isn't necessarily okay to do something just because someone else does it.

If a country does not have a employment system that makes it possible for a female to survive ,prostitution will take hold .

I do not believe that its as much
a choice as people would like to think . The women who go into it thinks that its their best possible choice to make a easy living . After they get into that field ,they are cursed .

Women as well as men make choices based on perceived choices .A man will go into the drug trade if they feel its a way of making a living or easy money . It ends up being a dangerous world of what all that entails . Gangs perceived that drugs are their best choice
of income generation .

Don't make the mistake of thinking that people go into drug trade or
becoming a hooker because they had many choices and that was the best of them . Those people had few choices and they chose the worst
of the choices ,no doubt in part to being lazy or being set up for it by some background mis-fortune .

Sex is inherently transactional. There is always an exchange that takes place.

The question is how impersonal the exchange is.

The existence of a currency maximizes this impersonal aspect.

A man gives his wife a necklace for valentine's day - it's a given that the wife will have sex with him that night. Husbands and wives publicly chuckle about the transactional nature of these events.

Husbands don't give their wives money for sex though. That is impersonal and insulting to the wife.

I don't think prostitution is a moral issue. But these women will find themselves feeling very personally worthless even as their income from prostitution is very high. This is precisely because it is not personal - there is intimate physical contact but all personal contact is avoided.

I feel sorry for these women whom our culture has never taught the existence, much less the value, of personal contact.

I think you're really judgmental. I know women who don't mind hooking for a little cash and I think it's no different than most other jobs.

Hey moron. I was talking about fairly civilized nations like Australia and New Zealand.

I never said prostitution was an admirable profession or legalizing would make it all sweet and innocent. The point is that there are more civilized ways of dealing with it. Prohibition does not work, dumbass.

I've already gone over why it can't, CAN NOT, be legalized. As I detailed, it will just legitimize it and we will have more of this:

"I think it's no different than most other jobs."

"I don't think prostitution is a moral issue"

It is different from other jobs for the same reasons that make it a moral issue. Come on man, of course it's a moral issue. That's why there is always a hubbub about it when it's brought up.

In addition to what I have already written, prostitution is the act of selling, viewing, and purchasing people as inanimate objects. Nations that legalize prostitution have very serious problems in crimes having to do with human trafficking, slavery, and abductions as a result.

It's because after legalizing it the *industry* will boom, which means more influence via money and media, which leads to common perceptions of other people/self as things.

We had a civil war over that if you remember.

Is that a fact? So you people would have no problem with your mum, sister, daughter, wife/girlfriend putting in an 8hr a day shift down the local whorehouse?

"So you people would have no problem with your mum, sister, daughter, wife/girlfriend putting in an 8hr a day shift down the local whorehouse?"

Nope, the problem is what 'other people' will think. And that's the cultural deterent.

Well, if you add in Germany, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Japan, and a host of other nations, which includes outcall tolerance in Canada and Britain, that's a lot of first world nations.

I think those who continuouly confuse the issue with third worldisms (trafficking of Burmese & Filipinos women), as if that's all there is, are brainwashed by the same American women who neuter the men of our society ("Suzanne researched this"). In reality, for a lot of women, if they can find work with less effort, they'll take it. Why is it that so many husbands are treated like a free checking account these days? It's a part of the same principle.

Apparently, if one's read "Brooke Taylor's" story, original featured in the HBO cathouse, you'll see that she's earning over $300K per annum, has investments, and will be retiring in her mid-to-late thirties working regular hours at a Nevada brothel.

Prostitution and cooking food has some simularities.

It might be fun to do when you don't have to and it's just for fun.

But it's a total drag when you absolutely have to do it in order to eat.

Just saying ...

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight... I can give a strange woman money to clean my house (real small amounts at that). I can give a woman I dont know money to cook my food (real small amounts also). I can give an unknown woman money to launder my clothes(once again, real small amounts too). I can give a women I don't know money to massage me (naked) for 90 minutes. And I can pay a women shrink (who u never get to know personally) $120 an hour to empathize with me and validate my feelings.

But I CAN'T pay a women (I don't really know) money for sex.

For sex with a women, it has to be for "free" (dating). OR I can get married and have sex, but then she has rights to at least 50% of my entire net worth AND she has exclusive rights to my sexual behavior. And she can divorce me and take the 50% whenever she wants, for whatever (or no) reason.

Just checking.

I've already gone over why it can't, CAN NOT, be legalized. As I detailed, it will just legitimize it and we will have more of this:

Lamaria, you need to take a trip to Australia and see how legalized prostitution CAN and DOES work.

It does not "legitimize" prostitution any more than legalizing alcohol "legitimizes" becoming an alcoholic. Prostitution is called the oldest profession for a reason. It's because it simply is and will never go away no matter how much morally righteous individuals like you try.

Here's a basic fact you need to understand. When you ban or prohibit something you immediately create a black market for that something. Prohibition invites criminal elements into trading in that prohibited something because they are not fazed by laws and they are attracted to the enhanced profits that can be made by a restricted something.

Prostitution, marijuana, cocaine etc .. etc .. do not go away when they are prohibited. They simply become more dangerous and more expensive.

It's also a public health issue. Legalizing prostitution and regulating it with health and safety standards DOES drastically reduce the spread of disease. Prostitutes are drug tested and must engage in safe sex. They also engage in their profession in safe, clean environments. Not in back alleys with violent pimps beating their ho's for money.

Lamaria needs a good blow job and maybe an enema delivered by some hot young hookers to help loosen up a bit.

'Lamaria, you need to take a trip to Australia and see how legalized prostitution CAN and DOES work'

Yes, I'd been Down Under and was quite surprised. It's a society, almost indistinguishable from a English-leaning Southern California, but unlike here (not just SoCal but also the whole continental USA), there are very few hangups about adult *mates* (see *blokes* in England, *dudes* in USA speak) going out for fun at an adult entertainment venue.

In fact, I recommend our friend to do a Google search on `Stiletto Sydney Brothel` and go check it out for himself. It's completely out in the open though still discreet; I guess that's the Aussie way.

Well, it does and it doesn't but in a non-direct way.

Our culture, as is, indulges alcohol consumption at all class stratas, from the elitist and their Martini blends/Aged Scotches to the college partiers and their kegs of Budweitzer. In effect, all grown up individuals are encouraged to drink as a way of letting go or feeling like a part of a crowd/club.

On the other foot, 100% of the population desires sex. What society wants, however, is to channel that energy into work, dating, marriage, and eventually starting families. What prostitution does, however, is attempt to break that stranglehold by making it another tradeable service, along the lines of massage (a/o physical culture) and that's not a part of society's plan of creating order and structure out of a primal instinct. Realize, what escort services have done in first world Japan is made Japanese salarymen lose interest in marriage, if they don't find 'the one' by the age of 25. What that did was prevent the equilization between the genders, over there, during the past forty years. In effect, Japanese women have become undesirable to grown men because they're "too American/westernized" after attending college abroad in let's say Boston or London. So in place of so-called normal relationships, as we see it in the USA, escorts are the way of the land of the rising sun.

Likewise, in western Europe, marriage is also losing its appeal as one night stands, short term relationships, and Amsterdam brothels/German FKKs have taken away the need for marriage. On the other shoe, the USA has the highest birth rate (and this includes non-hispanic Protestant whites) among the first world because men are basically entrapped into marriage for fear (and this is mainly unconscious) of not getting sex outside of it w/o being a rich, media/pop star. Maxim magazine is a type of fantasy rag, not a reflect of a typical guy's lifestyle.

If we use Anon's (@ November 25, 2008 3:51 PM ) logic maybe we should ban women who offer services in cooking, cleaning and laundry. And we should ban women from doing massage therapy work and psycho therapy work as well.

That way, men will be EVEN MORE steered into Western culture style marriages. That way, we as a society will be even more likely to produce children.

After all, with the planet massively over populated with humans, what the world really needs is MORE humans.

Here's a radical thought... if society's plan is "creating order and structure out of a primal instinct.", then I suggest that marriage and children should be DE-emphasized by any society that wants those attributes for the world already massively over populated and over consuming.

IF proper medical care is taken, I suggest massively supporting escorts would help depopulate the world while providing women who are interested more financial options.

To gutless & lazy,

The problem, I believe, is that in our society, America in particular (less in Canada), the act of fitting in, despite the fact that our modern urban/surburban lives are more isolating than ever before, is somewhat critical. Somehow, this is strangley interweaven into the whole dating, marriage, protestant work ethic (or thereby lack of) homeownership ethos, which is more prevalent here than elsewhere.

I believe what this does is create these absolutisms like prostitution being indistinguishable with human trafficking, controlled substances, and organized crime. So all and all, when these American Puritans arrive in let's say a Hamburg FKK, they go berzerk because their whole lives, they were lying to themselves that their '1st love was the only love' (i.e. a false nostalgia which really, never was the case), that they really 'chose their 1st wife', or 'chose to have children', or 'chose not to move to a better city for the wife/kids', etc. In reality, they were being railroaded around, continually manipulated by others. If instead, they'd started at the German club back at the age of 18, they might have been more judicious in dating and perhaps, postponed getting serious, until a real match was found. Or perhaps, never at all if it wasn't mean't to be.

This is not an original theme. It's already been showcased in 1999's best picture, 'American Beauty' starring Kevin Spacey. That movie's probably more relevant, after the housing bubble, then even back then when it was a startling expo about our society and its false ideas about love and marriage.
