Doesn't it amaze you that in a country full of religious crazies, unapologetic racists, undereducated dolts and evolution-denying ignoramuses....
That THIS guy somehow won the presidency?
Man, that economic crash must have been REALLY bad.
Otherwise, there's NO WAY they give this dude the wheel.

He's not going to last, Keith. Tens of thousands of people in the south want to take him out. I know it's not politically correct to say that, but it's TRUE.
I know- GOTTA LOVE IT!!
Yeah, the crash is bad, but just maybe there are enough educated, conscious, pro-active, dedicated, energetic, SMART PEOPLE left in this country who went over, under and around those ignoramuses and elected a qualified leader.
Yippee-kyyy-ayyyy!
Yes Keith, I am surprised. I did not vote for the man (Ron Paul), but I am glad to see that racism is fading in this country. It won't be gone overnight, but the fact that whites voted in a black (OK, half black) man for president is a posiive step.
That said, I think he's a bit inexperienced and bit too socialist for my tastes, but I hope the best for him and our country. And just to tweak Keith a bit, I may even pray for him.
I didn't vote for OB ,but I would like to see him be a success in trying to solve the problems of these trying times . Any President taking the reins at this time needs the full support of this Country .I hope that OB does not cave in to big business because during these times
Main Street needs to survive .
In this cover up environment ,we now have the big time criminals confessing rather than a actual bust . Why don't we have a National Confession day on all Ponzi Scheme financial crimes ? Advertise that you get your sentence reduced by one half if you fess up .
Is anyone under the illusion any more that you can have de-regulation in the financial arena ? Does anybody think that you can have a financial system in which guys like Bernie Maddog
could survive for so many years ?
Capitalism must be regulated or the thieves come out in droves .It's not a very good statement about human nature ,but lets face it ,people are greedy . The crimes of the Banks/Wall Street and their Co-conspirators the Borrowers and their agents have taken this Country down . All those people were blinded by the concept that they would find a greater fool to by some bogus inflated property .To bail out these people and the Banks that set them up is the final insult to injury for the honest
people of this Country . Justice will just be a hollow word from now on .
What really amazes me is how quickly the Obamatrons abandoned homosexuals in their hour of need. These are the same homosexuals who were neck deep in the equal rights struggle and stood shoulder to shoulder with blacks on MANY occasions. So the same knuckle dragging black troglodytes who voted Obama into office are the same desperate homophobes who would probably like to take a baseball bat to "those fucking faggots, yo".
Obama displayed particularly sound judgment in choosing Warren as the spiritual figurehead for his inauguration, don't you think Keith? Nothing like adding insult to injury while appealing to the very same "religious crazies and evolution-denying ignoramuses" you happily deride.
Continuing to mindlessly wax poetic about Obama while trotting out these tired memes lambasting the unwashed masses' inability to see him as some sort of godhead is tiresome. Obama and Biden couldn't even come out and support gay marriage for crying out loud. You'll say it's pragmatism, I call it bigotry. Biden is a world class scoundrel who must be terribly disappointed to see the credit card industry reined in a bit. His misguided war on drugs is just another aspect of his deranged personality. Obama is showing his true colors with each passing day: a closet conservative.
Time to start being a little more discriminating when sorting the wheat from the chaff, guy. You're beginning to sound like a HuffPo echo chamber. Hell, even they've dared to be critical of the man once.
Having grown up in Canada, I find it interesting that americans have such an exaggerated belief in the 'power' of their leaders. In Canada, the prime minister is just the prime minister. The president is just the guy who you elected. You made him what he is.
Obama is just a teacher at some university in the mid-west. It is your belief in the high and mightiness of where he went to school and where he taught that makes you believe in obama's high and mightiness. What has the guy actually done?
It is the elaborate, epic nature of the american electoral system that exalts the ultimate 'winner' into such an overblown status. What did this winner actually win? What can he really accomplish?
I will point you to American Idol as an example of exactly how you have elevated the status, talent and power of your winner far beyond reality. When someone finally wins at the end of the Idol season the balloons and the confetti rain down on them in a flood of tears and disco lights. And then what? The winner produces an album full of songs that noone actually wants to buy or listen to. The winner of Idol is still a nobody with a good singing voice but not the actual substance to create interesting and meaningful art.
You'll never see a Kurt Cobain on american idol and not just because he's dead.
You'll never see a real leader of real substance 'winning' your electoral process. Not since the founding fathers who actually accomplished something, who won a war and the independence of their brothers.
Martin Luther King did something. Gandhi did something. George Washington did something.
Barack Obama has done nothing.
Roosevelt did not end the great depression or win ww2. The american people ended the great depression and ended ww2 and they did it through meaningful personal sacrifice.

Sorry for the rant.
Al-Queefer.
you are soo off base.
you have been away for too long
watching way to much BBC.
Is the smoke realy all that much better in Europe?
Keith,
Please stick to talking about housing, and try to hide your hatred of normal Americans, especially those from the South. As for Obama, he seems like a decent sort, but let's see. He is still a Chicago politician. Stop making a fool of yourself by repeating all this, "Ohhh, we have a real Black man in the White House! Ohhh, it makes a chill run up my leg!" crap.
Maybe, just Maybe
America is a much much better place then has been portraid here.
and maybe, that America is by far the best country on this planet.
Contrary to the rotten Eurotard propeganda.
Europe is going under, and are trying to brings us down with them.
It wont work!
Oh glory! The messiah has arrived!!
i have herd it all or read it all as in this case you carried the preachers water ran palin over a few times put mccain back in his vietnam cell and you now can't believe your man won the presidency what gives finding out what the 48 million or so other voters knew and this sitcom is just starting can't wait for the first season reviews to come in but as i said he will be a 1 term democrat if he doesn't destroy america by then oh that's right bush did that already sorry
Lots of the nutjobs, many who post here, have already started blaming Obama for all of Bush's *uck ups. The repetitive ranting from the shallow end of the gene pool will continue to escalate. Remember all those towers of ethical fortitude like Newt Gingrich from the last dark age the Republicans brought on themselves? There will be a new crop.
Meanwhile Bush has done more to nationalize companies than Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro combined. Capitalist my @ss.
That dumb S**t hasn't held the presidential office for one day and he already has a pretty good scandal going!
Like a true Clintonite he is surrounded by corruption but had no idea it was going on!
Gonna be a fun four years...or less!
...or it could be your assessment of the majority of americans is incorrect.
...or it could be the majority of americans really do hate hillary.
Chicago Politician. Not impressed. NEXT!!!
Ok fine I'll give him 100 days.
Good luck Barry.
He is already mocking the electorate with bad decisions:
Republicans at Labor and Transportation? WTF, I can see Defense or DHS.
Printing press stimulus? Bush2 has shown that doesn't work. Carter may not be the only president with Stagflation attached to his name.
Moral Hazard? Pay off houses for the crazies, dolts and ignoramuses. That is great policy for establishing a post depression economy.
Please stop with the race thing
i hope this country splinters and the ignorant redneck idiots in the south can take their religious racist beliefs and shove it up their hairy asses! civil war part two!
To me, the "CHANGE we believe in" was a case of rebranding, pure and simple. You've got the new face, fine, but now please explain me why has the administration been so densely staffed with the "old guard"?
Mr. Bojangles better start doing some pretty fancy dancing if he thinks he's going to pull the USA out of this tailspin. This guy just got handed the biggest booby prize in the history of American politics. Dollar diving, unemployment soaring, house prices (still) plummeting, fear rising, anger simmering. Change coming?
So far, not so good.
DISCLAIMER: I'm an unapologetic racist and an evolution-denying "ignoramus."
Actually McCain was one of the only three gop presidential candidates that accepts evolution. Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani were the others.
Wouldn't you say that it's amazing that McCain got the nomination of the party of religious crazies?
Oh common, the women always knew that the powerful hate women more than black guys. Of course belle hooks would beg to differ.
"That THIS guy somehow won the presidency?"
Keith you are losing it. You pushed for this gut. Go read all the shit you wrote on America Panic. You answer your own question. You gloated in the days after his election. Admit it Keith. Come on. You have broken and don't want to admit you were wrong. Just admit it. I would have more respect for you if you did.
Yeah, the crash is bad, but just maybe there are enough educated, conscious, pro-active, dedicated, energetic, SMART PEOPLE left in this country who went over, under and around those ignoramuses and elected a qualified leader.
-------------------------------
yep, those same pro-active, educated people were interviewed for the John Ziegler web video “How Obama Got Elected”.
Yes We Can!
Let's say there is an outside chance that now that we have a smart guy running the Executive Branch, things might not go to hell in a hand basket.
They might, of course.
But we have a better chance now than we have had for the past 8 glorious years.
Having grown up in Canada, I find it interesting that americans have such an exaggerated belief in the 'power' of their leaders. In Canada, the prime minister is just the prime minister. The president is just the guy who you elected. You made him what he is.
Exactly Paul. In Australia the Prime Minister is a joke. Voting is mandatory but nobody takes it very seriously. There is certainly not the two year long dog and pony show and all of the grand celebrations for the victorious "leader".
The Founding Fathers designed a system of balanced power among the executive, legislative and judicial branches but over the centuries all the power has shifted to the executive and thanks to popular culture this insipid idea of the righteous, uncorruptible and glorious American persident has been promoted and instilled in the American mindset.
It's very sad indeed. To see what a great system of government and a once proud and independent republic has become. It's become a pathetic corporate fascist democratic duopoly.
The Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves and clearly Keith doesn't understand any of this because he blathers on about Obama being some kind of savior as if he's Chris Matthews drooling idiot brother or something...
This coversation is a mute point. Why don't we talk about this pressm conference we are going to have in a little over an hour?
Obama displayed particularly sound judgment in choosing Warren as the spiritual figurehead for his inauguration, don't you think Keith?
---------------------------
and how about BO's choice to lead the department of education? Under the nominee's guidance over the last 8 years, a whopping 17% of the 8th graders in chicago read at grade level or above.
Yes we can!
I really think there ought to be a multiple choice question test as part of voting. if you don't get 50% correct your vote doesn't count.
The questions would be simple, like "which party controls congress", or "the 3 branches of government are" and make one of the choices include 4 branches. easy stuff that any moderately informed voter should know. One of the questions could be
"how many States are there in the United states of America"
a) 57
b) 48
c) 50
d) 13
this would force campaigns to actually educate their voter base to some extent.
A great article on the war that Obama will be waging in Afghanistan. Another meaningless, pointless waste of tax dollars and human lives:
Obama's War
As a biologist, please know that evolution remains a theory.
Keith,
BO won a popularity contest. the number of voters that carried him to victory were no more educated or informed than the rednecks red state voters. the blue side has just as many voters as the red that evolution has passed over. the majority of supporters on either side cannot correctly answer basic questions about government or the candidate they supported.
Maybe there aren't as many racists as you think. I worked for a while at Gulfstream in Savannah and didn't know what to expect regarding race relations going down (I'm a yankee).
I was really surprised to find that there was much LESS racial tention than in the north.
Groups of half black half white sitting as a group at a lunch table was a common sight. You don't see that so much in the north, although it's not 'racism' even there. Just the social networks not overlapping overlap as much.
don't you ever get tired of your own people lying to you, screwing you, and stealing from you. oh you will really hate it if a black man does it. it must be nice to be white, judgemental, mean, liars, haters, greedy and seperatist and think it's acceptable because you are white and that makes it okay. you all must have forgotten that poem "white mans burden". google it read it and remember it because you sure think this world was built for your sorry asses and everyone else is here at your personal invitation. no wonder white folks worry so much about hell cause you know there is plenty of room for you. so like good christians and catholics you do your evil while alive on earth and hope and pray you can ask for forgiveness before the lights go out so you can try to get into heaven because you rely on god forgiving your sins you created on earth. until white people learn to help the disadvantaged with a pure heart you will stand on the front lines in hell shoveling coal to keep those fires stoked forever.
Actually, I really like Rick Warren. The Ted Haddard / Jerry Falwell / Pat Robertson / Sean Hannity "Christian Right" destroyed the GOP and also helped destroy America. I like seeing the rise of the Christian Middle or the Christian Left. Pro environment, understand evolution, favor the poor over the rich, and a lot closer to christ's teachings than the evil "Christian Right", who favored leviticus evidently.
He's wrong on gay legal rights, but he's not a homophobe, and all in all, I like the guy. He's a good guy. And this BS on the left is just funny.
Just look too at Obama's cabinet. He really is going to run in the center. F*ck the left. F*ck the right. It's time to get something done.
Paul E, rants like THAT are good.
You really are a stuborn little bitch Keith. You know this new administration is a joke. Admit it, I know you want to. There is no possible sense in saying you agree with his economic policies which I know is the biggest hot spot with you. You avoid the main issue of economics when you want to say something good about the guy.
> As a biologist, please know that evolution remains a theory.<
So is the theory of relativity, E=Mc2
I invite you to test out if this "theory" has any actual truth to it. Please go to the White Sands test range and ask to personally witness close up the next test detonation of the W88 nuclear warheads.
Oh yeah - and if you can't swing the travel budget, please feel free to test out the "theory" of gravity from the nearest tall object.
Biologist my ass.
Why not? He is an articulate, charismatic politician with excellent leadership qualities.
Of course Jessie Jackson was going to have his balls, but even he had to cry when Obama won the election.
Know when to flip!
DOPES!
I don't think enough credit is given to the American people. I don't think Obama's race had anything to do with him winning. Sure there were some people who voted for him because he's half black, some people who might have voted for him because they're hoping he's a secret muslim sleeper agent who will support the muslim cause, and there are some who voted for McCain because he's white. But overwhelmingly voters were faced with two mediocre candidates and it became more a case of the lesser of two evils, and of the two, Obama was the better speaker, more articulate, urbane, healthier, appealed to the vast need of the people for change and good leadership even though he's just a NWO puppet like McCain, more youthful, has an attractive young family, has a better grasp on the economy than McCain, has a VP candidate who wasn't an airhead, etc. At the end of the day it doesn't matter who won because of the people with the real power behind the scenes pulling the strings. I have a feeling Obama will disappoint a lot of people.
Sorry, the University of Chicago is not just "some university in the midwest."
"Biologist my ass."
The point is that while a vast majority of scientists believe in evolution, as scientists they are, nonetheless, required to acknowledge that it remains a theory.
Gravity is a theory
But tell you what, go up to your roof, over to the ledge, turn around with your toes on the ledge, and lean backward.
You'll believe in gravity pretty quick.
America is such a funny country. The world's greatest scientists, hands down, alongside some of the most ignorant people in the world.
Science and religion are not at war.
Truth and ignorance are.
The American people voted on a feeling and "Hope for Change" and because the alternative was an old fart completely out of touch with reality and viewed as "More of the Same" and his Alaskan bimbo sidekick.
Does that amaze me? No it doesn't amaze me because the masses have still been duped. They were given two false choices and picked something as vacuous and meaningless as "Change".
Clearly "Change" is not what we're getting. Although I know that starry-eyed Keith will be the last to admit it. Which makes Keith redundant when it comes to any meaningful and objective conversation on Obama BTW.
If you have any evidence that there was any thought processes more complex going on in the average American's brain than a "vote for Change" then I would love to see it.
"The Hidden Face of God" by Gerald Schroeder is a good read
But of course, ignorant people refuse to read or challenge their childhood beliefs, so I guess I'm just wasting my time
I know its been posted several times. I know most here know it by heart. But I see alot of mention of the founding fathers and how far we have drifted away from what they intended, of Obama nominating "old guard" and I think its always good to keep this in mind. Its just going to be four more years of the same 'ol same 'ol. Should have voted for Ron Paul.
"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a monied aristocracy that has set the government at defiance. The issuing power (of money) should be taken away from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs." Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826), 3rd U.S. President.
His Clinton cabinet is chosen under the mistaken notion that the 1990's will be repeated. This time, however, it will be the USA and not the Soviet Union which collapses.
Jim Rogers says you're an idiot, Keith
(For thinking Obama will save the economy)
"Just look too at Obama's cabinet. He really is going to run in the center. F*ck the left. F*ck the right. It's time to get something done."
Right or wrong, eh Keith? Yeah, he'll get something done, doesn't matter that center RIGHT is wrong for this country and world . . . . Congrats-really!!
"Actually, I really like Rick Warren. The Ted Haddard / Jerry Falwell / Pat Robertson / Sean Hannity "Christian Right" destroyed the GOP and also helped destroy America. ::Shakes head in disbelief::
What is so admirable about an extremist homophobe who compares homosexuals to pederasts? I know in your own "enlightened way", you think you're following in the Godhead's footsteps by acting as his proxy uniter, but sometimes assholes who display poor judgment are just that and nothing more. Obama is being a complete asshole regardless of the hollow talking points you and the other Obama apologists are making for this horrendously bad decision. Why even bring some divisive cunt on board when a nice, unknown local preacher would have sufficed? Because Mr. Ego needs to show that he's reaching out to the knuckle draggers you speak of? You betcha!
By the by, there is no centrist, moderate Christian demographic to speak of; there are just more superstitious turds who can't seem to grasp the concept that God is best left out of politics. It's simply time to dispense with the mythos of water to wine and fish and loaves. Furthermore, if you think this kind of transparent pandering is doing anything to bring hardcore Christian conservatives on board, then you're the one who is doing the underestimating my good man.
Have you seen how the Messiah, with his magic microphone, has fixed global warming in the West? It's snowing like crazy in CA and NV.
Thank god the Messiah intervened because Al Gore and Pelosi were so worried that the planet was melting away. Poof! All tip-top now, the Messiah has spoken.
JR, Why all the hate?
You need to direct that madness to all the "white" guys who basically collapsed the "entire" world economy due to greed, corruption, booze, women, hoes, blow, fake credentials, and did I mention greed.
They've done enough damage to occupy your hate for the rest of your life and mine.
Our phony 2 party system is just a power duopoly owned and operated by the plutocracy. Obama is no different than the rest of the D.C. whores. "Change you can believe in" will be nothing more than same old same old.
Keith, I would welcome a post on religion. We touch on the subject from time to time as an offshoot of some other topic. It would be interesting to get a read on where people are at.
I was confirmed in the united church, went to a lutheran highschool where we attended 'chapel' every day. I had a religious experience while in college that, in one moment, destroyed my belief in organized religion. But cemented my belief in a divine higher power.
I would be curious to know if others have felt this influence or have arrived at some of the same conclusions I have.
"Is anyone under the illusion any more that you can have de-regulation in the financial arena?"
What deregulation? Having the Criminal Reserve central plan the economy into the gutter is not deregulation. Having Bush pressure people and banks with the "ownership society" is not deregulation.
Bailing everyone out is not deregulation.
The working group on financial markets is not deregulation.
Sarbanes Oxley was not deregulation.
"Does anybody think that you can have a financial system in which guys like Bernie Maddog
could survive for so many years ?"
Of course not, and the SEC is a joke and once again proves government incompetence and corruption. Maddog got away with fraud for 6 administrations, both (D) and (R).
keith,
it's time for you to acknowledge that the theory of evolution is just that, a theory.
even einstein thought there was something more out there.
you have failed to answer some basic questions i asked in another string regarding evolution. instead, you provided irrelevant url links to wikipedia.
you seem to be someone who has an open mind -- albeit still firmly entrenched on the left -- so i would honestly encourage you to explore the arguments against evolution in a more academic manner.
notwithstanding that a majority of scientists believe in evolution, they simply can't force their beliefs on people. in fact, there are so many holes to this theory, as well as unanswered questions, in a way it can't even be considered a theory. i mean, how can a theory even stand when there are so many valid challenges to it.
anyway, like i said, i encourage you to take a step back and consider the arguments against the theory of evolution.
and again, for the record, i'm in the agnostic camp. i see the arguments for both evolution and creationism.
by the way, i don't like obama because he is a commie fascist who is currently planning to create an American Brown Shirts force and turn our Constitution upside down, but in a way i feel sorry for him because after the next four years he is going to be hated more than George Bush! History will blame Great Depression 2 on BO since it will happen on his watch, even though it's not his fault (other than his being a shill for ACORN).
A campaign for CHANGE, now will CHANGE happen.

_Bubble
Vernon L. Smith, a Nobel laureate and economics professor at George Mason University, has said the tax law change was responsible for “fueling the mother of all housing bubbles.”
The provision — part of a sprawling bill called the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 — exempted most home sales from capital-gains taxes.
The first $500,000 in gains from any home sale was exempt from taxes for a married couple, as long as they had lived in the home for at least two of the previous five years. (For singles, the first $250,000 was exempt.)
The change in the tax law had its roots in a Chicago speech that Senator Bob Dole, Mr. Clinton’s Republican opponent in the 1996 presidential election, gave on Aug. 5 of that year.
Trailing Mr. Clinton in the polls, Mr. Dole came out for an enormous tax cut, including an across-the-board reduction in the capital-gains tax.
Evolution is a scientific theory that does not in any way conflict with religion.
Period.
Hope that helps.
Thank you Pay Lay Ale. It's so rare to find anyone that "gets it" on this blog or in society really. All we are is a society of non-thinking morons that parrot what the mainstream media tells us.
"The point is that while a vast majority of scientists believe in evolution, as scientists they are, nonetheless, required to acknowledge that it remains a theory."
Yes. Just a theory.
Like theory of gravity.
Germ theory.
Number theory.
Theory of relativity.
Cell theory.
Game theory.
Atomic theory.
Information theory
And don't forget the theory of:
"How bout you ignorant asses stop nitpicking the language used and instead come up with a testable explanation for how life changes over time that doesn't involve Santa Claus and his magic ark or some such crap?"
If you find this offensive, then stop listening to power tripping guys who make a profit off of you being ignorant and guilty, and go read a fucking book.
Sorry if this goes into flame war territory Keith, but I am so fucking sick of these sort of guys and their bullshit.
Best post I've read on here in a long time....Cheers to Paul E. Math.

Really?
Fantastic.
Love to hear it. Although it will be hard to beat tested, proven, utter simplicity.
Demonstrate a better explanation, and you can probably name it after yourself.
I am not going to hold my breath.
Oh, and Keith, you might wanna refer people to http://www.talkorigins.org/
They pretty much have every nonsense argument against evolution debunked. Not that people will listen.
Martin Luther King did something. Gandhi did something. George Washington did something.

I'm a very happy man today. We're clearly having an awakening of enlightenment here at Soot and Ashes. It's great to see more people are seeing through the smoke and mirrors and bullsh*t of the political system, media and our so called "leaders".
Sadly, Kweeferoni has some catching up to do. He still "Believes Obama's Change Will Make America America Again".
But all in due time....
"Evolution is a scientific theory that does not in any way conflict with religion.
Period."
Yes, it is a proven theory and yes it does conflict with religion. It conflicts with a dumbass literal view of the bible and koran, which are really the only way those stupid books are meant to be taken.
and how does our evolution from todays financial word into tenant peasant farmers hurt the country or ones fellows?
Oh yeah, change is coming. We all get to live in David Patterson's America. Maybe Obama can borrow his playbook and introduce a national 18% tax on Pepsi.
I'm glad Obama won - he's definitely the more intelligent choice.
However, he's isn't making things any better for himself by aligning himself with religous zealots.
The way things are going, he'll be the last president - white, black, brown or purple - we'll have to worry about, since there won't be a nation left to preside over.
Let the show begin.
Let's see, he's an openly Christian candidate who does what it takes to get support from Goldman Sachs, AIPAC, unions, and the Kennedys while saying nothing against American imperialism, the Federal Reserve, illegal wiretapping, and massive spending.
I can't believe this guy won. He's so different than all of the other presidents.
Keith,
It's even more amazing than you think. It's not just the crazies, racists, dolts and ignoramuses.
We constitutionalists voted against him too!
Paul - if Obama has no power, why are you investing in conjunction with his planned policies?
Keith - to answer your question, maybe it's because we're not all crazy, racists, and dolts.
Keyser Soze
The choice of Rick Warren to give the invocation at Obama's inauguration is a little like Mahatma Gandhi choosing Ted Nugent to play at his retirement party.
Doesn't add up, unless there is an underlying identification we just didn't see before.
First off, most people still don't realize how bad the US economy is.
Secondly, the media picked the election winner, that's why Ron Paul got nowhere. He wanted to kick the Fed out and leave Israel flapping in the breeze. He spat in the face of the two richest cabals in US politics.
Anyway, uh... what were you rejoicing over again?
Lenny
I have this vision of the Obama household that just won't go away.
BO and Michelle are standing in the kitchen jumping up and down and doing fist-bumps and laughing and screaming and throwing down a few and giggling...
and then after a few "holy shit!'s" it gets silent and then they go...
"Oh shit. NOW what are we gonna do??"
