Soot and Ashes Quote of the Day
"It was almost like you were getting let into the club of investors, and everybody wanted to be in. He was like, `Oh, wow! You've got a Madoff account.'"
- Palm Beach Accountant Richard Rampell, on the biggest Ponzi Scheme at the Palm Beach Country Club, December 2008

He's kinda like "that" girl that everyone is trying to sleep with. When you final get your chance she was not that good and left you with a good case of VD. I hope some high roller from spain puts a hit out on this JERK.
Looks like he "Mad-off" with a lot of people's money.
BWAA HA HA HA!
Love it!
These people with bigger piles of money are no better than those Scottsdale slimeballs who thought they were rich.
Oh yea, like this guy is going to be safe in his NY apartment.
He'll be dead in less than a month. Guaranteed. Or kidnapped and sliced and diced.
No. The greatest ponzi scheme ever is run by the Fed/Us Govt.
The Fed/US govt scheme requires greater and greater debt creation to keep the economy going. Once suckers stop accumulating debt, the economy goes down the tube and eventually the ponzi scheme is revealed for what it is.
I heard this morning tha Madoff is not in jail but is under house detention ($7 million apartment in NYC). I can't believe he's still alive. Gotta think he gets dead soon. All I want for Christmas is two bullets in Madoff's chest.

thats the shame of it...this is another symptom of greed that will detract from the much bigger heart of the matter. the news will be on Madoff, or eventually on the next scam artist to be revealed because we loves tawdry. It will deflect us from the infinitely larger scam perpetuated by wall street and washington.
Madoff purposely turned away many high-profile investors. Told them they were not taking new investors. It made them want to throw money at him even more.
All you need is a giant hooked nose and the moral and ethical make up of satan to be in that club..... Go ahead, look at the members yourself.
This quote is why I can't muster up much sympathy for these duped investors...they basically believed that somehow they deserved to be in this "special club" where they got to make more money (returns) than anyone else. the retired couple in FL that the media keeps showing is a sad case but I still can't feel bad for them for many reasons, two of which would be: 1)why did they put all their life savings in one place? 2) they thought they were "special" b/c Madoff accepted them into the club. It sucks.
You guys are wrong. He'll be flying to Israel soon, sipping drinks and laughing @ you.

let the mark think you're the one doing them a favor
I find this story fascinating and I pray to god none of my accounts has any even remote dealings w/ Madoff entities. You just don't know.
They are going to find that lots of peoople/investors knew it was a Ponzi and opted to play musical chairs with him anyway. Some knew the music was ending and bailed just in time - or was it? Check out what I mean in this Slate article...just because you got your $ back doesn't mean you are off the hook...
