The Israelis just have to keep bombing closer and closer to home, don't they? In 1967 and 1973, they could fly a long distance and bomb Sinai and Damascus and Jordan. In the 1980s, they could fly as far away as Iraq to bomb stuff! Then in the 1990s and this decade, they had to resort to bombing Lebanon -- a bit close to home. Now it's down to pounding the Concentration-Camp-By-The-Sea -- I mean the Gaza Strip. Never good when you have to bomb the hood.
Next up -- Dateline 2010: massive airstrikes in East Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. Dateline 2015: alternate side of the street bombing (like New York City parking regulations) in Tel Aviv as the Israeli vs. Israeli civil war takes hold.

Israel should have done this a long time ago. These muslim fanatics were given that piece of land a few years ago in Israel's attempt to make peace and all they did was arm themselves to the teeth with more and more advanced rockets and missiles. I read that 3,000 rockets have been launched this year alone against Israel. I can't believe they waited so long to retaliate. I don't see how people on this blog can't see this. They must have an incredible hatred of Israel or Jews for them to disregard Israel's pulling out of Gaza and only getting rocket attacks in return.
The UN needs to make a ruling that the Gazan Pals should be relocated to the Sinai and live under Egyptian rule. That would be the best thing for them and for the world. This has gone on too long and the world needs to come together on this and create a resettlement policy for the Pals.

Academic Arab professors who instigated war with Israel. Arabs living in Israel (20% of the population) have more rights than Arabs anywhere else in the Middle East. We always here about settlers being the problem but they are only a tiny portion of the West Bank population. Certainly if 20% of Israel's population can be Arab then 5% of the West Bank's can be Jewish.

I'm from Asia, and I say Israel has done a TERRIBLE PR for the last 20 years every time they go on a bombing spree.
Don't forget. A majority of Asia, South America, Africa, even Middle East (read: a majority of the world) was colonized at one time or another. To many of them, colonial rule is still a living memory, w/ their independence coming around WW2.
When they (I certain do) see Israeli helicopters shooting into residential buildings and missiles exploding in the residential area, they see the extremely lopsided power struggle and the sufferings they imagine their ancestors must have gone through no so long ago. After all, it's a modern version of the struggle between the colonizer and the colonized. These images fuel their collective rage against such gross injustice and human suffering that they remember their recent history and identify more firmly w/ their country that emerged from colonization in recent history.
I feel enormous sympathy for the Palestinians. I don't think I have a single friend in my native country who's sympathetic to Israel. And we're a young generation in our early 30's.

To those of you who believe in the poor Israeli victims, I can only say that your ignorance is only superceded by your blindness. Most of the world no longer allows the accusation of anti-semitism for accusers of to shield the Israelis from their reputation as murderous, cruel nazis perpetrating thier own Shoah. They use bunker busters supplied by the US to retailiate against a captive, starved people who for two years have been killed just as cruelly by the medical blockade. The Settlements are illegal, the right to return was guaranteed. There can only be a one state solution. There is great need for a peace but the use of excessive and unreasonable violence towards civilians who had no escape is not going to do anything but perpetuate the violence. They have been fighting over there for thousands of years and obviously have not yet shed enough blood to satisfy themselves (either side). They will keep fighting with whatever means they can get their hands on until someone's messiah comes (or comes back), or until one finds a way to completely destroy the other.
If I were Israel and had the resources they currently do, I would unleash complete and total holy hell on Gaza and southern Lebanon (not up to Beruit). The people around Israel hate them, always will, so who the f*** cares. They will kill less with one monster swipe than dragging this out another few generations or until one of the Muslim nations has the ability to do the same to Israel.

Although I'm not Jewish, my daughter is via my ex-wife's lineage. I don't hate Israel. I just hate what the country is doing. And it WILL be their downfall. Remember the Crusades? Bukko, you are delusional if you think Hamas shoots rockets into Israel because of a sea blockade. There's no blockade via the Egyptian border...in fact, that's how they get rockets into Gaza. And by the way, all the western powers cut off political and economic relations with them once they were elected to power by the Gazans.
Bukko's statement really sums up the naivete and cognitive dissonance of the Left: they simply refuse to admit the truth that Hamas and the Palestinians want to see Israel destroyed. That's the way it's been since 1948, and in particular 1964 when the PLO was formed under Jordanian and Egyptian occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.
Hamas fired rockets before the blockade, they fire rockets with it, and will fire rockets even if it goes away. The strategy is to build up the arsenal to the same level as Hezzbolah in Lebanon and then to engage in a protracted war of attrition -- based on rockets and missles -- where Israel either gives up and dissolves or the people leave and the country implodes. That's the strategy. And it will work unless Israel hits them hard and for a long time. That's what they're doing and hopefully it will work.
Until the Left faces the fact that the Palestinians simply do not accept Israel as a country, we will continue to have these inane and worthless discussions.
In the meantime, Israel has to do what it feels it must to stop the aggression against its people. And even in the face of massive dead, Hamas continues to shoot rockets. That speaks volumes to their fanatical hatred of Israel. Like the NAZIs (the German National Socialist Party), after which Hamas models itself, they will go into the ash heap of history. Someday, but not before ruination to their people.

Israel has the right to self-defense, and should destroy Hamas, a terrorist organization who has been bombing Israel.
They should now invade Gaza, kill anyone associated with Hamas, destroy all of their facilities and assets, and be done with it.
And then the Palestinians will have a choice. Recognize Israel, renounce terrorism, celebrate their new statehood, receive massive foreign investment, and live in peace and prosperity.
Or they can keep supporting Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran, keep terrorizing, keep living in poverty and ignorance, and keep destroying themselves.
Their choice. And until then, I hope Israel has the courage to take care of business. Including dropping bombs on Iran's nuke facilities.
This isn't a jewish issue. This is a matter of a nation defending itself from terrorists and from countries who have called for its destruction.
It's time to resolve this matter once and for all.

My apologies for calling you a native white of Oz. It didn't occur to me that an immigrant would make such callous and racist remarks about a native population in the country that ALLOWED him to immigrate to and become a citizen (presumably). That you are an immigrant -- and a recent on at that -- and are making fun of the native population is a hell of a lot WORSE than if you were born there.
America has always been hated by many countries around the world, particularly France and other autocratic regimes. Why? Because they hate the ideals of liberty, freedom, and free enterprise. These concepts are polar opposites to the archaic ideas of behavioral control, intimidation, and planned economy, which constitute the core philosophies of the vast majority of the countries of the world. The very fact of America's existence is an existential threat to most countries in the world. That's the fact. And that's why America is hated so much, in addition to our incredible ability to invent, create, and influence the world. I suspect that there were similar feelings by countries when other powers in the past (Britain, France, Spain, etc.) ruled and/or influenced the globe.
It is a badge of honor to be hated for these ideals because those countries are so far behind us in terms of political philosophy, culture, and technology. Having said this, I don't look down upon these countries but encourage them to try to adopt the ideals enshrined in our federal Constitution. Indeed, if you know anything about history you would know that many, many countries have simply lifted sections out of that document and used them as the basis for their own Constitutions or for their own laws. The most recent being Iraq.
For those of you who support the Muslims/Hamas/Hezbollah in their war against Israel, I say you should vote with your feet and go live in one of the Middle Easern countries...with your wife, girlfriend, or daughters. I suspect that if you do you would be making a beeline to the nearest western democracy (Israel) in very short order (of course, you would say something nasty about the place and then fly off to a more comfortable environment).
By the way, that you would shame your deceased father for broadcasting his sexual interests that were certainly private to him via the internet speaks a lot about you.
