One-third of Americans now are rated obese
Why does this seem to correspond so perfectly with the housing bubble?
Does easy credit = easy McDonalds?
The number of obese American adults outweighs the number of those who are merely overweight, according to the latest statistics from the federal government.
Numbers posted by the National Center for Health Statistics show that more than 34 percent of Americans are obese, compared to 32.7 percent who are overweight. It said just under 6 percent are "extremely" obese.
"More than one-third of adults, or over 72 million people, were obese in 2005-2006, the NCHS said in its report.

Hey, you think it's bad now. Just wait, the only thing people who are out of work and have no money can eat, is that .99cents meal at McDonald's. Plus, people get depressed and want to eat even more.
In my area McDonalds is always packed. This is really no surprise to me.
You know, this kind of angers me too though. Because if we get socialized medicine, take a wild guess who's gonna have to pay for all of these fat fuckers with heart problems and diabetes...
Awww, the polite Eurotards are soo concerned about climate change, how noble.

There is no more evil and rotten creature on this planet then the citizens of the European continent.
And the other 2/3 were rated "stupid" or "ignorant" on a good day, AFTER a fish meal...
DIE U PIGS
"The disgusting Americano sizzlin over hot coals, fat dripping with bamboo plugged up his ass".
Ah yes. Keith, I think it would be fair to say you called this one too, or one of your angry followers did.
No wonder the Wal-Mart worker who got trampled on Christmas had no shot at survival. Not when it's
300+ pounders doing the tramplin' to get their George Foreman grills at bargain prices!
It's sad.
Just yesterday, I noticed at my local grocery store, lots more Skooters. Way more than usual.
They seem to have gotten wider. I couldn't even get around them, I had to reverse and go around. It's getting inconvenient to navigate efficiently. On the other hand, I was glad to see these folks out and about no matter what.
The drive-thru lines at my local fast food places are so very long, all the time.
It's hard sometimes to home cook, living in the desert. Fruits and vegetables are disappointing most of the time. I can see why fast food is appealing but it's a battle that just has to be faught.
No surprises there. Fat is just consumption out of control, after all.
Count me in on that!
If this doesn't warrant a DIE U PIGS I don't know what does.
I would like to see part of Obama's energy plan to render their bloated diabetic corpses into bio-diesel. Or just scoop them up alive like in Soylent Green, they are too fat to escape.
this really is sickening! However I am not surpised at all! Fat ass everywhere walking around like small manatees on land! All I can think is this thread was made for Andrew Hac. :) Michelin man everywhere are hooking up with aunt jewmimas eating the atkins diet!! ha ha!! Culprits- fast food, fried food, mayo, laziness, video games!

What happens to real estate prices if the dollar collapses?
"FORT JACKSON, S.C. - The Army has been dismissing so many overweight applicants that its top recruiter, trying to keep troop numbers up in wartime, is considering starting a fat farm to transform chubby trainees into svelte soldiers..."
Further 'statistical' disclosure would also reveal that these obese adults are pound-for-pound more God-fearingly patriotic than other Americans - and thus, consider themselves Great Americans.
Let 'em eat McRamen!
Airlines in Canada now have to give fat people two seats if they need them.
http://tinyurl.com/axa7sh
What is really a bummer about this (no pun intended) is the fat people asking to be treated as disabled, so if you don't want obese people to have two seats then you're some kind of fascist.
The whole rebranding of gluttony and sloth as some kind of disability is, IMHO, a major sign of a society in collapse. I'd guess about 1% of fat people are actually ill with a thyroid disorder or diagnosable mental illness, the rest ...?

Absolutely! The last thing taxpayers want is for any of THEIR money being spent on medical care for other people.
It is much better to give taxpayer’s money to the big banks, insurance companies, Iraq, and to the failed automakers, instead.

P.S. Just received a $12K bill for my daughter’s eye surgery. Thanks to insurance from my employer, my out-of-pocket expense came to $250. It was enough of a hassle with the insurance company when they tried to pull their “pre-existing conditions” sh!t, but I finally smacked them down on that one.
But if I had been laid off instead of working, then what?
When I was a kid in the 60's
I was told (weather depending)
"Go out and play"!
I ran everywhere, rode my bike a million miles, football, tag, dodgeball......
Nowadays, I have friends who's kids will park themselves on the couch watching T.V., video games, or Texting from noon (that's when they get up) til 2 or 3am
They go nowhere, do nothing!
You tell them to go ride a bike and they if motivated enough get on a motorcycle.
And yet, with all the modern conveniences they have....their always bored and pissed off!
God forbid they have to mow the lawn or pull weeds
.
.
i work with a guy whose kid was told to go pull weeds,
the kid took some allowance money and hired a mexican laborer to do it

Then you dip into the money you put away when times were good. Er, wait, that would take forethought, planning, and just a touch of being realistic, wouldn't it?
Option #2 you whine about the government and society and tell anyone who will listen about the surgery you can't afford. You bring up how in Europe the surgery would have been "free". You'll be just like the herd.

This is a timely post, because lately I've been trying to look on the bright side. A depression isn't all bad, you know.
Once people run out of money, they'll slim down. No more Cheetos or Dove bars, just hearty soups from the soup kitchen. And they'll be walking and biking a lot more, because they won't be able to afford gas, insurance, or auto maintenance. This will take care of our out-of-control health care costs and that looming unfunded Medicare obligation.
There will probably be more blues to enjoy, and maybe those cool minor-key jazz tunes will make a comeback. Sappy tunes like "don't worry, be happy" will disappear.
We won't be disturbed by cell phones in theaters and restaurants as often, since people won't be able to afford them.
Due to unemployment, parents will have a lot more time to spend with their children. Extended families will live together to save money. We'll have much stronger families in the end. This will serve us well for generations.
No one will try to keep up with the Joneses. And no one will need a therapist to figure out why they're depressed.
There will be fewer carbon emissions and global warming will slow.
Customer service will improve a lot, because stores will be desperate for your money.
So stop being gloomy. There are a lot of things to look forward to and America will emerge stronger than ever in ten years. Or maybe twenty (or thirty?).
I think stress has a lot to do with it. Americans are totally stressed out. Too much stress helps people engage in poor habits, like poor eating habits.
Just another sign American culture is imploding upon itself. Unsustainable. The center will not hold. WE ARE DEVO.

My neighbor had a lap band put in. She was a good 100 lbs overweight and has lost a good amount since the procedure.
Her main complaint - adjusting to the small amount of food it takes to fill up her "new" stomach. She went through days of feeling nauseous/vomiting as she adjusted from her old behavior of overeating to her new reality of eating like a bird.
It's a big decision with risks. However, it seems to be working for her after some initial pain.
Good luck.

And they wear Spandex too thinking they are sexy. Take away America's military power and you have a broke bananna republic, a nation of obese mongrels, mixed genes, bad breeding, McDonald's culture, and now a mulatto President as their leader. USA looks less European and more third world everyday.
Sorry Keith, those fat pigs will get the last laugh. When the supply chain breaks down, you'll discover that those obese folks have cleverly stored a year's nourishment on their persons. On the other hand, when food is unavailable for months at a time, you'll starve to death in 3 weeks.
