Do you sense your friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives getting increasingly pissed at what George Bush, Alan Greenspan, Barney Frank and the cabal of corrupt bankers and realtors did to America?
Or do they still not care?
A politically incorrect pamphlet hitting on all the unspeakable stuff: Politics. Economics. Fiscal Policy. Foreign Policy. Moral Issues. Culture. Investments. Religion. Humor. Life.

one fox news watcher i know only blames democrats.
Most people don't care, simply don't understand, simply can't grasp the information or simply have no access to anything but bubblehead TV.
Sorry Keith, most of my friends, family, co-workers, etc... still "don't get it". They "don't get it" that America, it's citizens, and it's businesses have lived way beyond it's means, and now they can't pay back the money, thus it results in less lending, which feeds this negative cycle again and again.
They just feel that "oh, pretty soon, this mess will be over and then we will be prosperous again". They are just wishing and hoping that with time, the economy will grow like gangbusters again.
Oh, you mean when they say "Who is Barney Frank?
they aren't pissed because they are pretty much clueless. they still think that the fed will fix the issue by adjusting interest rates or something. Perhaps just one more stimulus....
No, I have not heard a single person comment about those politicians. No one cares about Bush anymore, and 95% of the rest can't even name their own Congressmen let alone these committee chairs.
The country is still in denial about the breadth and severity of the economic crisis. The funniest thing to me is how Obama and his crack team are planning to "fix" the problems by encouraging even more extreme versions of the behaviors that created them!
Neither.
It's a rather studied avoidance of any thinking about it here.
I've fucking HAD IT with that cowardly paralysis.
I get a sense that the general american public (outside the relatively few who make every attempt to understand the issues) hasn't got a clue and really doesn't care....yet.
When they do...they are going to go ape.....!!
Keith, they are in a fog that is a combined attitude of:
1. Don't care, since these matters are too far above their abilities as people.
2. In terror, since they know things are bad, and must get worse, and there's nothing they can do about it.
Sorry. They know it's rough all over, but are working too hard to make ends meet and are too tired at the end of the day to assign blame, or care!
They couldn't care less. The only one they know is George Bush.
amazing
Where I work most are still oblivious to what's going on. Nobody got laid off yet, so the recession is something that happens on TV. Some folks noticed that their 401K dropped, that raised a few concerns, especially among those close to retirement.
But nobody is really pissed at Paulson, Bush, Dodd or Frank. They think it is like some natural disaster that just happend and nobody saw it coming.
.
No, but don't you all feel that awkward and eerie moment of silence before an explosion or storm? That strange quiet moment before something major is about to happen? C'mon, I know you're feeling it.
.
Nah. Most people I know don't care. Somehow the concept of a "recession" is still a joke to them. After all, it still takes an hour to get a table at The Cheesecake Factory.
Still need lots more layoffs to get a rise out of the sheeple. Just not me please, thanks.
=)
Keith,
I thought your hometown AZ Cardinals were supposed to suck??
Why, what could be more important than football? Those jackasses are either clueless or just don't care.
No one I talk to has a clue what or who caused this mess. No one has a clue how bad it will get. No one understands that the whole world is affected. All they understand are layoffs and their 401Ks. They hope Obama will fix everything.
If things get really, really bad, the blame will be assigned to liberals, homosexuals, democrats, etc.
A Credit Free, Free Market Economy Is Possible.
It Will be Both Dynamic on the Short Run & Stable on the Long Run.
✔ Introduction.
✔ The Numbered Account.
✔ The Credit Free Money: The Dinar-Shekel (AKA The DaSh. Symbol: - ).
✔ Asset Transfer: The Right Grant Operation.
✔ A Specific Application of Employment Interest and Money [For my Fellows Economists].
If short-term risk free interest rates are at 0.00% doesn't that mean that credit is worthless?
Hence, We Need Abolish Interest Bearing Credit and Cancel All Interest Bearing Debt.
In This Age of Turbulence People Want an Exit Strategy Out of Credit
An Adventure in a New World Economic Order.
The alternative would be to wait till, on the long run, most of our productive assets get physically destroyed either by war or by rust.
It will be either awfully deadly or dramatically long.

I think the sad thing is that most people have just basically given up. They basically believe it is their lot in life to take it in the shorts.
I did hear one pretty smart guy say, "Ya know, I really need to start voting Libertarian more."
Then there's this guy, Keith, who writes this blog ... he thinks everything is fine now that Obama is in charge.
I'm near Philly - all we seem to care about on this particular day is:
1) The Eagles (if I hear the fight song one more frigging time I'm going to throw a dinner plate at the TV)
2) What building got destroyed by fire and the poor souls who are affected by it
3) Who got shot/robbed, etc. etc.
I can not find anyone at work or in the "hood" that is interested in talking about the "calamity". They're eyes glaze over if I try to start a conversation. Talking about Politics as a whole is ok, but not the economy specifically. Folks are just hoping it's a bad dream and will go away. They have been lied to so much that they don't believe MSM or anyone else. As long there is enough money to get cigs, lottery tickets and beer all is OK.
Most of the people that I deal with have no idea what is going on outside the spectrum of the weather, gasoline price or their favorite sports team. Most of them get all of their "news" from the TV or local paper.
A majority of this country live in "the bubble." This bubble is bigger then tech and housing combined. "The Bubble" is their ability to block out the reality of the situation. They go to work (if they can find a job) and they go to church and pretend that every thing is A-O-K.
The only way we will ever see any serious change is when the power goes out for a few days and people run out of food. Then there is going to be a complete freak out.
Most people don't want the truth. They want the "blue pill".
Americans I've talked to recently:
My college-aged daughter, who came down for a visit over Christmas. She's politically aware, left-wing, went to Obama rallies during the campaign, acknowledges that things are fucked. But she still looks at me and my wife, and our prophesies of doom, and the pile of food we've got stored up, like we're crazy. It's like everything that's happening is so "ironic" and unreal, not anything to get angry about.
So many people have the attitude that it's a game or something, like a disaster movie that doesn't affect them. I wonder -- when these people are hungry, or sick, or when they die (not talking about my daughter) are they going to get it then? Or will it be like "I'm dying, but this wasn't my real life anyway"?
My bitter mother the Nixon-loving Republican, who's watching her stocks go down to zero and seeing the value of her house decline as it begins to rot around her from lack of maintenance. But she refuses to accept financial advice from a traitorous, country-leaving left-winger like me, even though she has to acknowledge that I've been correct about everything. She's a living example of "cutting off your nose to spite your face," who'd rather lose everything instead of listen to a liberal. She doesn't blame Bush. She blames the Democrats and the media. She can't say why, but it's their fault. And she'll be happy if there's nothing left for me and my sister to inherit. That's OK, Ma, I've got my pile in a Swiss vault. Enjoy the bitterness!
Our left-wing friends in California, who are mildly angry at Bush, and know that America is sliding down, but they have a vague hope that Obama is going to make it better. One of them refuses to talk politics with us any more because we keep pointing out that the Hopey Administration includes many of the same maggots who made all this happen. How can we be so negative about him too? And the rest are a bit scared, but they're basically standing impassive like a possum in the headlights of an oncoming car.
Yeah, that should be the new American national symbol -- possum in the headlights...
People don't care because they have a poor sense of history. They may have a vague clue that there was this thing called the Great Depression and that maybe one of the Roosevelts was president during it, but that's about it. They don't have a clue about how bad things can get. Because they don't know how bad things can get, they're not yet panicking.
There should be a lot of laughs once this nation of ditto-headed idiots wake up to reality, and start expressing their surprise about how the country was sold out.
"...working too hard to make ends meet and are too tired at the end of the day..."
Heh. Got us right where they want us, don't they?
"...don't you all feel that awkward and eerie...strange quiet moment before something major is about to happen?..."
Absolutely. It's the stark terror, deep in the subconscious, of most people unwilling to contemplate what is coming.
Some of my family gets it. I get it. I blame Congress. At least for the past 10 years since I really started to pay attention. Some of my friends get it...the others - pretty affluent - DINK's -bought into the adjustable mortgages in SF - they aren't saying anything over dinner nor am I. Those mortgages haven't adjusted yet, but they will either this or next year. Conversation and/or dinners will probably be history at that point.
Once Obama gets in and they see that he can't just wave his magic wand (no one can!) I think you will see people much more outspoken as will the MSM as they just love bad news. Except the MSM - they rarely ID the problem or the cause, but they will talk and talk about it without meaningful conclusions.
Change - I am afraid is going to be from silence to outright panic and blaming - probably the wrong people/entities.
Saw an interesting layoff at a successful green co. in Silicon Valley...laid off aoubt 300 workers - not from lack of business, but from lack of credit. Readers here know this, just hadn't it seen it mentioned before on the evening news.
Pissed at Bush, yes, but not willing to go too far beyond that.
One day they may wake up, but it will be too late.
Sad.
Its funny how the polls you put up on the site never mention Obama.
Obama was the largest reciepient of funds from Fanny and Freddy in recent years.
Obama is as responsible as Frank Schumer and Dodd in crafting this debacle.
But the Messiah gets a pass in the MSM and here on S&A too.
Biggest political idiot... OBAMA.
Worst Democrat.............OBAMA.
Dumb and dumber, Obama will make Bush look like a genius.
What financial crisis? Do guys know when the new season of American Idol starts? Saw Rock of Love tonight, great show. Gotta go the Dominos pizza guy is here with my food.
Angry?
About what?
This is a "once in a century event" due to the economic downturn.
Thank God we have our government to straighten it out.

My brother-in-law, a blue-collar worker without a college degree, leased a brand new BMW, two months ago. Does it answer your question?
It's official: Gisele Bündchen & Tom Brady Are Engaged!
What was the question again?
A few people I warned thru the years know where we are going, but it is too big to actually do anything about it.
I'm prepared to take care of a few people close to me, everybody else - I don't give a flying f**ck about.
But around normal people at my works and places I go to have no clue. Or like someone said before, they think it is just like a natural disaster.
Aside from being a giant reptle I tend to surprise the other creatures with my anti-bush rants.
