Unless the Senate radically alters Pelosi's mess, America will now fall into a Great Depression, if it's not there already. This 'stimulus' package is nothing of the sort. It's a joke. It's a Democrat-pork-fest. And it won't stimulate anything.
And Nancy Pelosi will go down in history as one of the most destructive people in the history of humanity. We elect stupid freaks to lead us, and we get what we get.

I always thought that majoring in a subject you had an unfair advantage in was coasting. Is this what education is all about? How does all his far Eastern knowledge help the United States? How about he gets appointed as ambassador to India or Thailand, instead of Treasury Secy. He is highly connected however, so that explains his rapid rise. His father worked for the Ford Foundation and with Obama's mother and his grandfather with Eisenhower, so more of the same old Elites.
These people get into these schools because of who their parents are, and then we are all supposed to think they are so smart. It's an old boys club and there needs to be a few upstarts to call them out. This is America! I would just love to see a few non-Ivy educated people in charge of cleaning up this mess. I do not trust the "Old Boys Club" to clean up the "Old Boys Club"

I agree with Mammoth about US economic problems. When will the government realize that money (and jobs) is flowing out of the US at ludicrous speed because of the out of whack exchange rates. The proverbial playing field is completely tilted. Govt. should somehow re-balance this huge problem through tariffs or some other mechanism otherwise this will never get fixed.

I don't mean to break it to you but how does a typical middle classer, at let's say Columbia or Harvard, feel when his classmates in $400 trenchcoats and Porches, drive around to posh restaurants in the cities? In general, it's de-motivating. I used to know a lot of kids, who'd studied like hell (i.e. more work in h.s. than college), did all the right extracurriculars (write award winning essays, Westinghouse Science Champions, Captain of B-Ball team, etc), just to join the crowd and sleaze their way into McKinsey and Goldman internships. All and all, what happens is they realize that that A+ in quantum mechanics means jack to the hiring manager at XYZ capital when he tells the kid to "stop being a nerd and get with the program".
So the point I'm making is that there's the admission lie, where an average Joe has to portray himself as a superstar { 4.0/1600, Captain of Team, Science Award Winner, Bob Frost Essayist Award, etc } but the well off, simply a litany of trips to Switzerland Archery ranges, Model Student Associations, etc.
I'd left Columbia, after my first year, because I'd seen that it had offered little to the non-connected, except for perhaps that insulting introduction to a Goldman recruiter, just to be forced to listen to his assinine perspective on everything. All and all, I'd found that not all entry level jobs, in finance, were created equal. I'd transferred to my State U w/ a full scholarship and did fine w/o the loan burdens in the subsequent years. I guess if I wanted to move up in the so-called world of finance, I'd still have to get either a Wharton, Harvard, or London MBA but that's not here or there.
Question: after we all have been stimulated by the big stimulus packages, are we supposed to have a big orgasm?

Doesn't everyone realize by now that the United States Congress and the Executive branch are simply organized crime syndicates? The people who occupy the various offices in these two branches are CRIMINALS! Plain and simple.
And we Americans are getting SWINDLED right out in the open for all of us to see. Usually, swindles are secretive. But the Congress and the White House have decided to do their swindles out in the open now. I have come up with a new word for this type of act:
Swindlate.
Swindlate: To cheat and defraud American citizens of their money and taxes in an overtly public manner in order to humiliate them.
I say we start a movement to start prosecuting members of congress. Just like they hold their congressional hearings whenever they feel like investigating someone, we could hold Hearings on Congress to do the same to them.
The Hearings on Congress would take place each year in a rented hotel venue in DC. We would set up a tribunal similar to the format that Congress uses for their hearings. We would get figures to play the roles of the government officials who we want to prosecute. Of course, this would all be scripted out and the defendants all would be found guilty after lengthy questioning to their criminal acts.
I'm serious about this. It would get a lot of press. There are so many criminals in the govt. that it could be an annual event and get a lot of media attenion.
Anarchy / neo-communism is starting to look good to me.
We don't need paid leaders. We don't need to put large amounts of money into the hands of the few. We don't need govt workers, IRS, ATF, DEA, Homeland Security, FEMA or even the armed forces.
Concerned local citizens and a militia is about as much govt we probably need.
I would rather live in a less affluent society that respects the rule of law than this immoral fiasco.
