Sen. Claire McCaskill: "We have a bunch of idiots on Wall Street kicking sand in the face of the American taxpayer... These people are idiots"
Nice words Claire.
So what are you gonna do about it?
Here's a start: Chain yourself to the White House gates and threaten to stay there until Obama and Holder arrest Angelo Mozilo. Or go on a hunger strike until that happens.
Rage? Anger? Then do something about it Claire. Something dramatic. Lead.
Because your words are cheap.

Its funny, but I put 10% of the blame of this mess on Wall Street. 90% belongs on our government. They completely enabled Wall Street to do what they needed with low interest rates, forcing lower lending standards and looked the other way when the banks didn;t care. I like Schiff's analogy that the Government bought the keg and the drugs and told the teenage kids we will be out of town for the weekend, so behave.
Our congress should be going to jail for this.
Any one who says "going forward" has already had their mind colonized by the Corporatocracy.
I hate Corporate-speak.
Also; they "didn't believe" they were so greedy? We need new representatives; one's who actually know what is going on.
Our country is not the only one with clueless leaders looking for answers:

QUESTION: "Why does no one invoke Henry Ford? He recognized that paying workers well would create a middle class that could buy more goods."
ANSWER Because paying those wretched labourers a real wage will decrease our profits and we just can't have that. I need my office re-fitted every 6 months and a new jet every year. Plus my wife and kids costs a bomb to maintain along with 7 houses. I mean, that's what debt is for right? Those poor buggers can borrow themselves to the hilt to buy all the crap we make. Have I got a cheap loan for YOU!
Not a very convincing performance. If you have rage, show it. and Michael G is right, this is mostly the government's fault. Forcing banks to lend to poor minorities with no down payments was the work of genius.
We can't really go and claw back this money unless fraud can be proven - it sadly wasn't considered illegal what these people did to America. But McCaskill and her lot can put policies back into place to limit outsized greed. Although everytime they try someone yells "socialism". There is a balance in there somewhere between socialism and capitalism. I would definitely love to see some scapegoats in this whole fiasco. There must be some people out there that have documentation to prove fraud for some of these corrupt scumbags. Mozillo in particular - I'm not so sure Toll's stock dump in 2005 as he was telling everyone how great real estate was shouldn't be investigated by the SEC. If ordinary people started seeing the housing bubble back then - someone from his perch certainly saw it.
A lot of nerve for you to call Wall street a bunch of idiots...
Especially coming from a Democrap!
"....this is mostly the government's fault. Forcing banks to lend to poor minorities with no down payments was the work of genius."
Isn't cute when a dittohead tries to think? When Rushbo goes on vacation, are you able to form any opinions at all by yourself?
That's right. The entire mess was due to poor minorities, and none of it was due to those nice white men on Wall Street who earned billions in doing honest hard work. The exporting of American mnaufacturing and service jobs also had nothing to do with it 'cause we all know there's new job opening in biotech everyday. Hell, we can all go into biotech and become a one industry nation. Until, of course, American corporations decide to move the biotech plants to India or China.
Talk is cheap. The Libertarian New World Order has a very tight grip on things here.
Lots of talk. Little change.
"...We've learned our lesson..."
AMEN, Sister!
Unfortunately, it's a far more malevolent one than this fairy tale she's selling.
"These people are idiots"
They got the money - who's stupid?
Yep, give them Hell Claire !
You go Missouri Gal - from the Show me State !
Takes a Mid-westerner to cut the bull shit!
A hunger strike Keefer?
Not a bad idea. She could probably last 3 - 4 months.
Lead, lady. Lead.

Sorry, Claire. We don't need confidence. That's how we got here. We need skepticism. Not populist pandering skepticism, but analytical, intellegent, tough medicine skepticism.
As far as your comment that "you can't "use pay tax payer money" to pay for corporate sloth? Really? Did you miss the last 50 years? I think history says something different.
Merrill Lynch are idiots? If they are idiots, what do you call the people in Washington whom they fooled into giving them all this money?
You said, "No one in Washington thought that they were so stupid" that they would spend this money on corporate jets. Really, Claire? Then let's stop letting the people in Washington make decisions, because all of us in Phoenix, Cleveland, Tampa, Portland, Boise and every other f***in place knew they were going to spend it on jets and golf weekends and bonuses and trips to the Carribean.
Thanks for trying to make us feel better. but right now, we don't need a pep talk. We need a ballbuster.
We need you and all your buddies in Washington to go home and stop screwing us. Without you clowns to protect them, most of these large corporations would go away.
We need simple, single-issue, readable bills. We need third-party access to the elective process. We need transparent government, which I believe necessarily means smaller government.
This bill is a band-aid to fix a problem that government created. This is the classic case where government broke our leg and is now handing us a crutch and expecting a big thank you.
Yeah, I heard her on the weekend poltical news shows. What a riot. She's raging against the machine.
ALL WHILE SHE IS THE MACHINE!!
