I like Jesse Ventura. Libertarian. Centrist. Realist. Well spoken. Brutally honest. Competent. And makes sense.
Almost sounds like he's reading S&A, eh?
"In my opinion, George Bush was the worst president of my lifetime"
"It's a good thing I'm not president, because I would prosecute every person who was involved in that torture, I would prosecute the people who did it, I would prosecute the people who ordered it, because torture is against the law"
"Let our country legalize... people are going to do drugs Larry, it's that simple. We need to take our heads out of the sand and treat it like an adult"
Oh, Jesse, you had me at hello...
Now that the Republican party has died, maybe someone like Jesse Ventura could pick up the pieces and get something started. Ron Paul doesn't have the fire in his belly. I think Jesse Ventura might. You can only surf so long. The country needs him.
Jesse Ventura 2012?

Ventura also Understands that the three 9/11 Towers were brought down by Controlled Demolition.
Ya don't say:
WTC7 Perfect Collapse in 9 Seconds.

I agree with Jesse too. Is his past too freakish for the Presidency though? That would be a concern if he decides to run.
Forget it Keith. Nice thoughts, but Ventura will always be marginalized.
He's an "independent". No one will back him, particularly the RNC: he isn't a "pro life" (what ever the hell that means, I guess ya love the fetus until it's out of the mother, then ya hate the programs supporting the kids after, then are super pro-death penalty if they are screwed up bastards after age 17) fanatic...
He's not a self righteous "Christian" (whatever the hell that means, be holier than thou while tapping numerous girlfriends, then crying on TV when caught),
And he doesn't call people who:
- aren't members of the RNC
- are non regular church attending Christians (and God help us Muslim)
- have the common sense to question some of the behavior of our government between 2000-2008 as unpatriotic traitors.
The Dems don't trust him cause he doesn't buy into their own agenda.
Oh, and he had the balls to question some of the official details of the sept. 11 2001 attacks. Bad, bad.
He's a one off. Never get higher than governor, believe me.
He also believes GWB blew up the World Trade Center and hit the Pentagon with a missile.
You know, now that I think about it, you're a Jesse Ventura kinda guy Keith. Not that I know much of anything about you, but the pugnacious libertarian but still somewhat humanistic tone you display in your postings has the same vibe as Jesse.
I read his autobiography back in the 90s when he was still Guv in Minn. He did some wild shit when he was a SEAL, and he had enough sense to not let the pro rasslin' glam go to his head. Wasn't afraid to admit he boned prostitutes, either. Balls he has to spare.
At the time I read his book, I was working with a traveling nurse from Minnesota. I asked her what she thought of Jesse, and she loved him because he gave everybody a tax rebate cheque when the state had a budget surplus. It was like $800 that year, which was decent money in the 90s. And it was real tax money back, not these bogus "deficit rebates" handed out in the U.S. (and down here, too.)
I don't agree with all his political positions, but then again, I don't give anybody a 100% rating, not even Kucinich. Jesse would piss off a lot of sacred cows, because he's a bull in the china shop. But he'd fire up a lot of people too, on the Left and Right.
What America needs is a Midwestern populist in the mould of Robert LaFollette from the 1910s. Someone who's for the working man, even if that man's a bit redneck. Couldn't be any worse than the corporate clowns from the two-headed Corporate Party that has run the U.S. since Nixon.
Of course, Jesse will never run. If he makes any indication in that direction, the Shadow Government will tell him what REALLY happened to Paul Wellstone's plane. "Shame it happened with his entire family in it, Jesse..."
Keith
I find it very odd how you CONTINUE to bash George W. Bush on this blog. Don't get me wrong--I am not a fan of his--but considering the corruption that is going on with the full consent of our current President, I would think you would have better things to talk about. Why don't you focus on the fact that our current President is turning this into a Socialist country? Or the fact that he lets tax evaders hold high-level government positions? Or that he is in bed with the UAW? Or why he hasn't arrested Mozillo and many others? Or the fact that he is RAISING taxes for the people that pay the taxes to give the money to the people that DON'T pay them? I could go on and on. I hope you will publish this because I am sure a lot of readers on this blog feel the same way.
If he still looked like he does in the top picture I would say we were heading toward "Ideocracy" but Jesse has been saying what he thinks, with an emphasis on THINKS, for years. We've been electing fake action heroes, fake cowboys and fake ranchers for too long maybe it's time the nation elected a real action hero.
Yep that's what you guys need
I like the part about Cheney being 'a coward'.
Also amusing the old garlic-breath suspendered schleppen Kingstein didn't reckon the difference between soldier and sailor until Jesse not-so-subtley corrected him multiple times...
After all, Jesse IS a bona-fide US Navy Seal which is nothing to make fun of ever.
A handful of motivated Seals could Punish the Guilty with permanent prejudice in No Time.
The pussy Wall Street Boys wouldn't even cause the Seals a sweat, and they would all laugh at the sight of Geithner...
They wouldn't find any pieces large enough to identify.
Can you Imagine?
The kill a traitor clause....
9-11 Truthers are none of the above.
He is a dumbass.
Not an ice cube's chance in hell; people that cost the elite money end up dead.
On an even lighter note, here's another reason for union haters to blow a fuse:
"...public sector employees...37 percent belong to unions, compared to the private sector, where just 7.5 percent of workers carry union cards..."FIVE TIMES the private sector, yet where was all our bitching about it the last eight years? ;^D
Oh yeah, and lets get Hulk Hogan on the ticket too as VP!!
Idiocracy anyone??
Dwayne Elizondo Mountain dew Carmacchio for prezz!!
Keith, I truly feel you've over stayed your welcome here, and it's about time you packed up your shit and pissed off back from whence you came.
You voted for change, now take the consequences of your actions.
I agree with every damn thing he said. He made so much sense my head stopped hurting.
am I the only oneheaslth insurance costs went up 300 percent in 5 years and that this 50 percent per year insurance price cost inflation is not accounted as inflation as the concept of 50 percent interest rates that would have maintained price stability is lost money and purchase power of my savings and dollar...guess perhaps my sense of entitlement and cost of living increases due to uncounted price inflations like housings were not heeded as my company obviously does not pay the proper politician bribes like insurance companysor the reic
Thought I recognized that name. These are not honorable men.
After all this family gave for their country...
THIS is how you treat them, America?
He is a showman, so he is putting on a show, saying the right things people want to hear. please...
Only if he finds a VP he can yell at all the time named "McMahon!"
As far as "freakish pasts" are concerned, we Californians have the Governator. I can't get my friends and colleagues in Europe to stop shaking their heads in disgust about that one.
F that. Ventura was a crackpot when he was Gov. of MN. And by the end he just acted like a baby about everything.
People have short memories to go with their short attention spans.
At first it was jubilation and validation of a third party.
After a couple years it was an embarrassment.
whats wrong Keith, sick of Obama already? that only took a few months.
VENTURA???? Keith, please STEP AWAY from the keyboard. PLEASE JUST STEP AWAY and clear your head for 24 hours. Thank you.
"Is his past too freakish for the Presidency though?"
And the past of monsters like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, are NOT freakish?
I admire Jesse tremendously and would love for him to be our president!!!
Ron Paul President
Jesse Ventura Vice President
Dream Ticket!

you know, since when have we, as a nation, come to the conclusion that the Constitution says the government must provide a wide range of programs and services to support us?
The constitution calls out that a national defense should be the responsibility of government. it says nothing about health care, child care, etc.
It says that the government should not impede people's pursuit of happiness, etc. Not that government should provide it.
it is up to you to work and secure your "happiness". you can choose not to.
The government paying to for the killing of fetuses is definitely impeding those fetuses ability to achieve "happiness".
so I don't see any conflict between not wanting the government to pay for killing of fetuses and not wanting to pay for child care (as one example of child services).
you can have all the kids you want but don't ask me to help pay to feed and cloth them and care for them. I will help pay for their education, to a point.

Well technically, if the mother gives the child away to an orphanage then the child is a ward of the state and will be taken cared of till adulthood. And given the number of useless and dysfunctional single parent households out there, perhaps it's better if the kids grows up with peer orphans since the days of 'Oliver Twist' are basically over. Where the system is kinda broken is with the foster parents who're not properly screened for abusive behaviors, etc.
That liberal Glenn Greenwald agrees with you about Jesse's take on torture. Keith, you're one of us Leftys. I know it's hard to admit it, even to yourself. You'll come around.
The Left -- we're right.

Excellent point. One of the reasons my ex-wife and I divorced is she made me responsibile/accountable for her happiness. It took a divorce and heavy-duty counseling for her to realize that it is selfishness that makes people think happiness doesn't come from within. FWIW, she is the offspring of a Proud to be Union family and her siblings are all the same way.
