What could possibly be more excruciating than a maudlin white guy rapping before there was rap?

With the bulk load of option arm starting hitting the market around April 2010, will the banks get caught with their pants down holding too much Shadow Inventories.

http://www.insidebayarea.com/business/ci_13962057

Lenders and asset-management companies with so-called shadow inventories of bank-owned properties are asking that the properties be readied to be put up for sale early next year, said Rick Turley, president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in the Bay Area. expecting a great number of (bank-owned properties) to come into the marketplace in January," he said. "They had been in some kind of holding pattern.

The shadow inventory may be coming out of the shadows."

Was everybody a douche in the 70s?

That was as dumb as Star Trek. But not as dumb as the new one.

Did you catch Shatner and Palin reading passages from each other's books on Conan O'Brien? Says it all about where Palin is headed.

The Shatner Rocks. Watch or wiki "how william shatner changed the world" it's funny and astounding. Fact: first televised interracial kiss was Kirk and Uhura. Star Trek inspired motorola engineers to create the cellphone. etc.etc. Blue cheese indeed....

the album he did recently is pretty good. there's a cover of "common people" on it which is quite nice. i'm too lazy to google or tinyurl anything for you. but take it from me. shatner is almost respectable by now.

So easy to take pot shots at this, but it's a perfectly acceptable dramatic reading. Here's what Mr. Shatner conveys: the narrator is not a Rocket Man, he is an escapist, probably escaping the loss of his wife through the use of drugs. David Bowie made the same extended metaphor with Major Tom.
Not sure I'm crazy about the split screen technique, but it fits the fractured personality - reefer smoking hipster/pretend Rocket Man/paranoiac (the paranoia a possible side-effect of the drugs).
What's gonna be a long, long time? Could the message of the song be even darker, like he's planning a suicide by O.D. - this reading of the lyric makes that a very likely outcome. About as un-Cpn' Kirk as possible, in any event.
Robert Browning it ain't, but I don't see why everyone hates this so much.

BTW - I'm going to look at a bank-owned house on Friday; longtime HPer and bubble sitter.

I must say I liked Shatner better in the Priceline.com commercials.

This was like a parody of a parody.

Like the 70's cheesy effects of 3 Shatners though- that was pretty cool.
