Bang

I know this sort of information probably freaks out 47% of the American electorate, who believe humans and dinosaurs walked the earth together. This is just a bunch of science gobbly-gook from atheist god-hating liars!

But that's what makes the internets and the google so great. Separating the ignorant and uninformed from the rest of society, so they can sit in their cave of ignorance and closed-mindedness, wondering how the world passed them by.

"fueling the hyperinflation of the universe"

And I laugh at loud after hearing this. Physics is funny. LOL

OK -- that was enough truthiness for now.

Funny thing is, a number of scientists I know (working with scientists is both a curse and a blessing) are quite religious -- they manage to sift out the dogmatic debris and assemble a world view where religion and science peacefully coexist.

If you accept the notion that it is the hand of "God" (pick one) that created the seed that became the universe and that the rest evolved and grew as intended, it is all good.

Truly - it is funny that people like you look at this video (which, by the way, is what people in the scientific community call a "theory") and you believe it's completely factual. You look at an event that may or may not have happened several BILLION years ago, and you think you know exactly what occurred.

I am one of the "47%" that you're trying to bash here. I believe in God. I consider myself religious. I can only assume that because I have the audacity to disagree with the Democratic party sometimes (how un-American! Democracy is only achieved when everyone believes exactly as you do, right?!) that you would consider me part of the "47% of the electorate, who believe that humans and dinosaurs walked the earth together". I think that if you ever took the time to actually speak to any "my kind" you'd discover that (shock, surprise) "our 47%" has a wide variety of viewpoints, and that we're just as smart as you (I know how hard it is to imagine that anyone else is as smart as you, but I promise - it can happen).

As far as people who are "ignorant" and "uninformed" - I see them all the time in classrooms around the country. You see, here is the definition of IGNORANT: "unaware because of a lack of relevant information or knowledge." Guess what? That's science. By definition, scientists lack information or knowledge. That's why they keep perfoming all those "gosh-dern complicated scientific experiment-thingys". They're trying to explain things they DON'T UNDERSTAND. Which is also why ANY trained scientist has to be careful not to mistake "hypothesis" or "theory" with FACT. Scientific history is full of gigantic mistakes. Here are a few examples of things which were once recognized by the scientific community as "facts" or "laws":

1. The world is flat.

2. The sun revolves around the earth.

3. The earth is the center of the universe.

4. All matter is subject to Newton's law.

5. Gravity, Electricity and Magnetism are all separate, unrelated phenomena.

6. The entire universe is subject to Einstein's theory of relativity.

7. The atom is the smallest particle of matter in the universe.

Of course, we now believe that none of these are completely true, and some are completely FALSE. Whoops.

Now I'm going to toss an idea at you, and see if you're as open-minded as you claim to be, or if you merely cling to your own ignorance because you're afraid to admit that you don't know this answer:

-Current science leads us to believe that energy is "indestructible" - that is, it is never destroyed or lost, it simply changes form.

-All the energy in the universe tends toward chaos - i.e., it tends to disperse in an ever-widening pattern, rather than coalescing into increasing patterns of order.

-the Universe was created by a "big bang" in which an unimaginable energy tore the "nothingness" apart into matter and antimatter, and flung them outward from a tiny point into the immense universe that we now know.

So, if energy naturally tends to disperse towards chaos, and if the universe expanded from one single burst of energy that sent matter and energy into an ORDERED state, rather than a DISORDERED state...what created that burst of energy? Something had to create that burst of energy. SOMETHING had to give matter the push towards order - because something else science understands to be true is that there are no completely spontaneous reactions. There's always a catalyst, something that fires the reaction. And, in the current scientific theory, at the beginning of the universe there was nothing there to cause a reaction.

Hmmm....Just a thought. But at least I'm open to the possibilities...

p.s. regarding your earlier comment about "winning an election outside the ignorant states", perhaps you should ponder the definition of bigot: "One strongly loyal to one's own social group, and irrationally intolerant or disdainful of others". Maybe you need to actually take a trip to one of those "ignorant" states like Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. I promise you that they do have internet. And doctors. And lawyers. And high-tech industries. Arkansas and Alabama have higher-ranked public school systems than California. And, as long as we're on the subject, New York and California have higher violent crime rates (per capita) than Alabama or Mississippi. So I guess the definition of "ignorant" is fairly subjective.

Following massage has appeared on Barack Obama’s official website http://change.gov/americaserves/
suggesting that Americans would be require to complete up to 100 hours of community service as part of a national service program.

Clearly, the use of the word “require” suggested that the program would be mandatory, stoking fears that such community service programs would be one aspect of Obama’s promised “civilian national security force” that is “just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as the U.S. military.
Hello people, are we entering the labor camps where as well as a new Health Corps, Clean Energy Corps, and Veterans Corps just the beginning.
Here is Obama Youth Corps, http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=77052 or maybe a new Hitler Yougent. Which camp would you sign up?!

Religion and science do co-exist. The big bang is proof of a god.

Dinosaurs and humans walking the earth together? Proof that god allows stupid people.

The 47% in my post referred to my embedded link:

The American Association of Physics Teachers just published a study of 1,000 likely U.S. voters about science, religion, evolution, and creationism. The results are frightening. Here are some of the “highlights” of their study:

* 38% of Americans are in favor of the teaching of religion in public school science classrooms.
* 65% of Americans do not think that it is an important science goal to understand the origin and diversity of biological life on Earth.
* 47% of Americans believe that the earliest humans lived at the same time as the dinosaurs.

I'll buy tentatively when the DOW is at 6,500.

I'll certainly buy when it's at 1,500.

"Dinosaurs and humans walking the earth together?"

Yes, this was the subject matter of "Land of the Lost".

you want to watch something hilarious/scary?

pick up Jesus Camp off Netflix.

it's basically one long movie of ignorant "Christians" indoctrinating children. they even pray to a life-size poster of W.

Remember 48% voted for McCain-Palin.

If that doesn't motivate young people to go into the mental health care fields, I don't know what will.

"...I am one of the "47%" that you're trying to bash here..."

And certainly not at all defensive about it in an 11 paragraph manifesto.

I find nothing incongruous about scientists believing in God. They arrive there by humility.

It is others who either crow about mankind's achievement or punt to the preacher.

Once upon a time I studied for two degrees in physics. I don’t know much about the bible but from the very little I know, about what is known as the old testimony, no word in that book can be understood by the common man.

The common man will not understand advance physics book either. If a creative physicist will attempt to use ideas from our day to day life that we all know, in order to describe quantum physics he/she might end up with a book that would make no sense to people who are not familiar with the physicist’s motivation. To them, the book would look like a complete nonsense. What else that physicist could do? The only language people understand is derived from concepts they grasp with their five senses. So expression of hidden concepts using common language results with confusion.

We don’t understand the bible because we are limited.

The bible is not a history book. Everything that is in the book is beyond the notion of space and time. Places mentioned in bible refer to physical stats of reality. Times refer to the notion of cause and effect or steps in a process.

The six days of creation is still work in progress. Today is Friday and the creation of Adam (or humanity) is not completed. The root of the word Adam means resembles. By end of day we should be unified as one and have the creator qualities.

Have a good day,

"* 47% of Americans believe that the earliest humans lived at the same time as the dinosaurs."

---

"Believed" or when asked a series of questions took a guess? No doubt, a good portion of those people, if they were asked if they believed in evolution, would also say yes.

And, believe it or not, some of that 47% may even have voted for Obama.

*gasp*

So those of intelligence believe that there was a big bang (cause unknown) and a second later, the four forces of the universe, in fact the universe itself suddenly existed in a small "bubble" a fraction the size of an atom and a billion degrees?

And you "bubble" believers brand me as ignorant for choosing to place my faith in God.

"Hello people, are we entering the labor camps"

This is just so retarded. Many countries have some sort of community service requirements when you reach 18 years of age and they don't have labor camps.
