I love how they NEVER mention those of us who chose not to buy an insanely over-valued house when the bubble was alive and well. I kept saving my money, living within my means and waiting for the deflation of the bubble, but now the idiots who bought way beyond their means or recklessly took out HELOCs to fund their materialism and their need to show off might get helped. My only consolation in all this is that I know that these programs will never fully take off and will not stop the price depreciation at this point. The train left the station a long time ago and everyone like Cramer is spewing nonsense that is just too little too late. That is my only consolation.

Keith, I don't know if you or anyone else has posted this video about the "Real Estate Downfall", but it is great (not to mention hilarious):

Hows about the UAW takes a 50% wage and benefits cut for about 6 months. See if that helps. If I doesn't, our money probably won't help either. Let the companies cut back before they come to us with their hands out.

Completely wrong...as usual.

Accountability is EVERYTHING!!!

seattlemoose is exactly right. The ultimate failure of liberal policy in the past was lack of accountability. The neocons took reaganomics and added zero responsibility (Responsibility was added after the S&L collapse) and here we are.

Bailing out housing gamblers and Detroit?

I finally saw the movie Idiocracy this weekend. For those who didn't see it, the idiots feed gatorade to the crops thinking it's good for them. The crops die, of course, but they are too stupid to realize that it's the gatorade.

The gatorade company is the backbone of the economy because the government pays it to spray it on the crops and to pump it through drinking fountains.

Finally, one person convinces the government to water the crops with actual water. Before the water can have it's beneficial effect, the gatorade company share prices plummet, taking the rest of the market with it and casting thousands into unemployment.

Sound familiar?

Housing and Detroit is what is killing our economy by consuming labour and capital that could be used to build bridges and power plants. But before we can build more bridges and power plants we have to stop making houses and cars.

Stop watering the plants with gatorade!

Every time I see Cramer with that somber look on his face, I can't help think about a sad clown trying to give away those blow-up ballon animals in some abandoned amusement park.

I really feel bad for him. He's got such an ugly mug on him.
