Soot & Ashes Quote of the Day
"I don't think we can turn it around in less than a year because too much wealth has already disappeared. The stock market might come back in less than a year but the shrinkage … it’s already occurred in investment wealth is going to play itself out in the real economy.
"I don't think it will take longer than three years. So I would say if they make really, really good decisions, which I think they will, probably somewhere between 15 months and two years we will back up again."
- Bill Clinton, December 2008

GOP: THE PARTY THAT KILLED AMERICA
Back on track printing fiat and loans for a whole new crazed horde of housing gamblers...
So that they may cash out their HELOCs and keep the economy humming.
Fundamentals matter, but not to over-educated, conceited, greedy parasites stuffing their pockets.
Utterly incapable of admitting the truth we are.
Isn't it physically impossible for something to disappear?
That money is somewhere, Bill.
Dear Sashers:
Repeat after me:
I am responsible for everything in my life.
Taking ownership for your own actions is the first step to success,
I know I know Christianity dosnt exactly foster self responsibility (someone died for your sins – ahem)
Ohhh, Bill Clinton speaks, the word of God rings through the sky! Excuse me, I have to change my underwear now...

DIE
Since our government employees have decided to print their way out of the mess that they and their wall-street/bankster buddies created without our approval, why are tax-paying citizens being stuck with the tag?
Very true.
If this reckless spending continues , this will surely lead into the next great depression, and it will hit the US tax-payer like a tsunami.

From the Market Ticker post about the AIG bailout(s)x3:
"Now this is, indisputably, bullish for AIG. But it is an outrageous subsidy for this company on the backs of the US Taxpayer, for which we have not been compensated, nor have the acts that led to this situation been punished under the law. The executives at AIG have not been forced to disgorge their bonuses and compensation, they have not been criminally charged, and no punishment has been levied against those who set up this outrageously overlevered mess in the first place."
The greatest con of our time.
As long as Congress was pouring bailout money into the central banks, the inflationary pressure was low, because those banks are just using the money to pay off bad derivative debts. Obama now talks about giving "main street" the same "leg up". There is no escaping the inflationary pressure that will come from hundreds of billions falling from the sky. Poor Senator Bill Clinton of New York will have a lovely time representing Manhattan in its throw-back 1970's form. Forget what happens to Wall Street. The best they can do will be to keep pace with inflation
Bill Clinton sold us out via NAFTA so he could get rich. What a scum bag.
"Total Debt as a % of GDP."
Sigh...
Someone could make a living teaching city folk how to live on the farm.
Hell, it could be a reality TV show. Call it, "Turning your 401K into 40 acres and a Mule", starring Alan Greenspan and Paris Hilton.
Typical dialogue, "Of course we can feed our bank statements to the chickens, Suzanne researched this."
We may be back in nominal dollars. But not in real dollars. In 2 years? No way - no how.
what if Mumbai was Wall Street, and Islamic fundamentalists were middle class Americans? would they understand then?
Well, you can avoid borrowing to pay the debt if the government was the one to make the money. That's monetizing by massive inflation.
People see the trap as overspending. The problem comes from going back to the same Jekyll Island crooks who create the money to tell us what do about the problem they created. Don't expect them to take the blame on this one.
fannies purpose was affordable housing but instead gave affordable loans....... now govt is keeping housing prices high so to get tax revenues.......... fannie was like 80 percent of all housings?
I don't see how it can ever come back in our lifetime (I probably have~20yrs left)or my grandchildren's lifetime. The stock market crashed in 1929 when my dad was 10. It reached the same point again when I was 10.
25 years. I remember for years after that, it didn't do a lot except for the occasional downward swoop which would unnerve Dad..not that he was in it. Also it's going to become ever more obvious how much of this 'wealth' was just a tallying of the last layer of leveraging providing nothing went wrong. Well, things did go wrong, are still going wrong, and are going to get a lot worse...If we deliverage all the way to what is really bought and completely paid for, to what people really have in pocket, in hand, with no plastic, we will be living quiet, small, 'humble-pie' lives. We are broke man. I had to face my relative impoverishment in 1995: lost job with seniority, never recovered financially...great lessons, many mini-miracles, but bare to the bone living. I know a lot about nutrition so I kept myself healthy but most people would gag if I told them how I lived. There is nothing wrong with it, just we still have an awful lot of entitlement 'airs' wafting through the culture. You have to give that up. Decide not to turn on yourself for being poor. It is not a sin, not a crime, not a sign of God's displeasure, not a sign of inadequacy; sometimes it just is..Given that, it's doable.

Well, it's called a protein shake for a reason. There's no shame in swallowing it.

how does being a devout muslim make you impervious to addictions? i suppose being a devout muslim makes you disease free too?
being devout anything means you likely have a screw or two lose if not missing. remember, these are people who gunned down innocents... using drugs would not be surprising...
time for you to go back to your loose marbles 9/11 videos and fantasize about cheney remotely flying planes with wing pods into the twin towers.
