The Worst President Ever. And we all paid the price.

So much destruction, because of one person.

And the idiots who voted for him twice.

[UPDATE - THIS THREAD BECAME A THREAD ABOUT HOME GARDENING AND COOKING, GO FIGURE. BUT IT'S A GOOD ONE]

You forget the entire corrupt congress.

Keith,

The idiots that voted for him still support him. I was with my wife's very large family for Thanksgiving, and they all defend the idiot and blame the issues on Clinton or other democrats in office. Unbelievable!

There is no doubt that bush sped up our downfall . But do your home work and you will find that Clinton had set us firmly along that path . Besides they are both globalists with the same ultimate agenda (wake up )

George Bush reminds me of the entire Manson Family all rolled in to one person.

WORST EVER, ANYWHERE, ANTIME, BY ANY STANDARD.

The benchmark all retarded alcoholics will be judged by in the future.

Roccman,

Like so many in my area I had an awesome veggie garden this past summer, gave away tons of veggies to my friends and neighbors and am still pulling carrots, turnips, beets and parsnips, even with ground a little frozen.

I’ve been composting our fruit and veggie waste for several years now mix it into my garden soil and it’s been doing wonders to the results.

"First, we know that farmers in California adhere to the strictest environmental and food safety standards in the world."

Wanna bet? The 'Lady Mammoth' works in an laboratory, and a year or so ago they found traces from recent applications of DDT on some crops grown in California.

DDT has been banned in the US since the 1970's.

Then again, we still manufacture DDT and sell it to other countries, who not only poison their own environment with it, but also export DDT-tainted food to the US.

What goes around, comes around...

Hey Mammoth!

How was last year's crop?
-------------------
Greetings R.,

Had one greenhouse full of tomatoes and the other was filled with bell peppers – both grew well and I had plenty of extra produce to sell. Outside (here in the cool Pacific NW) the lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower & cabbage did fine and kept us fed & mostly away from the produce section of the grocery store. Last week we finally finished off the last of the giant zucchimi (ala zucchini parmesean-mmm…!).

About the only bad news from the garden was the cukes did poorly; that and the fact that adding a new member to the family took time away from gardening, so the weeds & slugs are back in force.

Currently am turning over the soil in the beds, mixing in lime, rock phosphate and wood ashes, spreading horse-poop on top and then a layer of leaves over everything. The earthworms will work their magic over the winter.

Planning for a bigger garden next year and will build a third greenhouse over the winter (mostly out of scrounged scrap wood & old windows, just like the first two). And BTW although not fanatical about it, I do not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers and the vegetables seem to do just fine with the organic fertilizer mix I give them. If anybody is interested I can post the fertilizer recipe, but perhaps this is getting away from the intention of Keith’s blog.

And Keith, you never answered my question from a few months back: How much does a Bell Pepper cost in England, where you are?

Finally, apologies to anyone who was bored by this post. If you want different entertainment, then turn off your f*ng computer and go vegetate in front of your television.

89p to 99p for a pepper. So that used to be $2 or so, but now it's only $1.30 to $1.50 since the pound has collapsed

How much in the states?

Mammoth said...

Recently saw bins full of orange, yellow and red Bell Peppers priced 2 for $4.00 at Albertsone, while the green ones are 2 for $3.00.

Mammoth,

I spread a single layer of news papers (not the shiny magazine type) and cover with a thin layer (about an inch) of grass cuttings, it acts as mulch (practically no watering required) and the worms love munching on the news papers.
Ever since I’ve been using our compost and news papers I have not fertilized, the wormys do all the work.

Obama is going to leave troops in Iraq for just as long as McCain would have.

Obama is going to be forced into a show of force with Iran, because Israel won't wait for him to grow a pair - and because diplomacy not backed by force is a toothless tiger.

And Obama's money bomb will displace the US dollar as the world's reserve currency.

All in all, BO is on-track to really disappoint the left-wing.

The collapse of the auto industry is due to oil and gasoline prices, since people no longer want low milage SUVs. The collapse of the housing industry is due to oil and gasoline prices, since first-time buyers can no longer afford to drive to the houses which they can afford. The collapse of the financial system was brought on by the collapse of the housing industry.

George Bush, the former Arbusto oilman, and Dick Cheney, the former CEO of oil services giant Haliburton, began their terms in office by destroying the economy of California, attempting to cash in on the new economy by withholding its vital electricity. It has been one multi-billion dollar theft after the other ever since. There is you Bush legacy.

You can find a green pepper on sale for .99 cents here in Calif. No sale about $1.99, a little more for red. I bought a 3 pack regular priced at Trader Joe's for $3.00. Love Trader Joes.

I am interested in reading about gardening. It is my favorite activity besides work. But I am not sure that I would use newspapers where growing food is involved, unless I was certain about the ink. Is it something to worry about?

Thank you Sir!! I do believe we are on the same page. Why can people not look at the whole history? Now that we have Obama (this name is getting annoying, like when my father used to call me "Bub" as a child) do we really think he is going to be any different. You should nave stuck with Ron Paul, Keith he would have been real change, he would be the difference we needed.

God damn that mans name is annoying, F*ck!

Snapper,

That sounds good; however, how do you know that the food from your garden provides the nutrition your body needs? If these various minerals & micronutrients aren’t in your soil, then how will they get into your food? Think about it.

Mammoth fertilizer recipe:
3 parts Fish Meal
1 part Blood Meal
1 part Kelp Meal
1 part Lime
½ part Bone Meal

For large plants like tomatoes, cabbace, etc. use ¾ cup
For smaller plants (carrots, etc.) use ¾ cup per 10 feet of row

We now return to our regulary scheduled blog.
George Bush is an a$$hole.

Until a few years ago I thought that Canadians and the Brits were crazy to let the gov't fall and reelect the their Parliaments, Ministers every few years. After Carter, Clinton and Bush, they are on the right track. We need to dropkick the Pres out of office if his rating goes under 30%. That would scare the S%^t out of the Dems and Cons. Plus the lobbyists would ahve a hard time kissing the A$% of the right people.

Since we're on gardening I thought in a similar vein I'd share a kick ass recipe

Hungarian Goulash

http://homecooking.about.com/od/beefrecipes/r/blbeef31.htm

Key is good Hungarian paprika and the peppers

Amazing

Better yet, get to Budapest. One of the greatest cities in the world...

Maybe I'll do a thread for gardening and cooking

Ha! You think it's one incompetent person. It's never been about one person. Bush has always been a pathetic patsy puppet of a president.

Everybody knows Cheney and the other Neocons of the shadow government have far more sway than Bush.

I suggest you read "The Project for the New American Century" to understand who the real power block of the current administration consists of.

Exactly. How has Obama made any real departure from the policies of the Bush administration?

He has not. And he won't. Because he is just a puppet.

Anonymous said...

Goulash? Now there is a subject near and dear to my heart.

Craig Claiborne's goulash recipe in the New York Times Cookbook is pretty close to real goulash.

Use this paprika, it's not hard to find.
http://tinyurl.com/6kre3h

Been to Budapest but if memory serves the goulash in the beer halls in Bavaria (when I was a young soldier) was the best.

blogger said...

Lib Vet - excellent choice in paprika!

And the key to a good goulash recipe besides quality hungarian paprika is - use too many onions and peppers...

blogocrat said...

I salute those of you who know how to grow food. Those who don't may soon discover how vital that is for survival.

Anonymous said...

"too many onions"

That is EXACTLY right.

First timers will look at the huge mound of onions they've cut and say to themselves, "This cannot be correct. It just can't be."

LOL.

When times were tough, I used to buy the cheapest pork in the grocery store and a bag of onions and make goulash. (Not to start a beef vs. pork controversy, it works both ways.) It's a lot of good food for not so much money.

blogger said...

pork? never even thought of it, but might give it a shot

and yes, it's funny that big pile of onions. I thought - 'no freaking way' first time I did it. But it's all about the onions.

oh, I found a restaurant here doing ramen - I haven't gone yet, but thought it was funny

Good recipe, close in composition to the hundreds of one ton bags we have ready to throw on our beds. When the shit hits the fan maybe I will invite you all to my family's large organic farm. We can carry out the days poor, but we can have cookoffs and plenty of food.

Come on Queef, turn on the f'n television. Obama, Paulson, Pelosi, all looking at using the next 350 billion. Obama on my TV on your hated fox news right now said to the extent he wants to keep people in their homes, and keep housing values from falling. There is a strong push for this that has gained a lot of momentum today. Get out of bed I don't care what fucking time it is.

Be it today. Obama will take money out of the pocket of the responsible. Socialism. Everything us anti obama people have been saying.

THIS IS BULLSHIT AND HP SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT THIS. THE FEDS WANTS TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO KEEP PEOPLE WHO COULDN'T AFFORD TO BUY IN HOUSES AND TO KEEP THOSE HOUSING VALUES FROM FALLING.

Anonymous said...

yes, please add a gardening thread!

The pork is a Bavarian thing. Nowadays I use beef.

You guys are making me hungry. I have never eaten goulash, but I plan to try it as soon as possible!

Keith, I would agree that Budapest is a beautiful city, much cleaner and nicer now than under the Commies. One of my fondest memories was my first visit to my husband's grandparents in 1980. There were bread lines, but they had a larder packed with home canned peppers and other colorful produce. It was so pretty! They brought out the fatted calf for us: stuffed goose, pate de foie gras and marron glace! Of course there was goulash as well! The family always said that at least Hungary was self-sufficient in terms of food; it made a big difference. We would do well to heed that here; there is no reason we can't.

Lost Cause said...

Goulash...that sounds like my kind of food. But anything that's 3 parts Fish Meal and 1 part Blood Meal, ummm, you'll never catch me eating that.

Roccman said...

Excellent thread!

Apologies Keith for the jack...

Friends still...eh bro?

Mammoth...you and I are on the same plane WRT greenhouses...will put up my next one this xmas break out of scrap lumber and old windows.

Trying a new design - heat transfer - with buried vent tubes circulating air with a small DC 120CFM (green house is 10x22. I will let you know how it goes.

Flip the compost pile last weekend - have about 5 yards of sweet worm filled compost!!

Two pigs went to the butcher last weekend...goot size 250-300lbs...we get all our pig food from the local school - left overs.

Garden was good - the amaranth came in great - lots os cucs and zucs...corn we lost...

We are getting about three dozen eggs a day...1/2 the goats are ready to have a kid...and we just hatched a chicken chick last week in an incubator...rabbits...are well growing like rabits...numbers up to around 20.

So much to do...so little time to do it.

Call me when you can!

I have one of the best beef goulash recipes and the bread dumplings that go with it. Does anyone want me to post it?

I also have a vegetarian version that is slightly different but no less tasty!

Say the word and I'll translate it into English.

Anon, Keith's right. Up the onions by 25%, whatever recipe you use. It's all about the onions.

Finally, Thanks Keith for putting up with the threadjacking this time around.

Perhaps you could run a more focused thread along the lines of:
"How are you going to get your food next year?"

BTW, what happened to that 'I don't care if milk costs $5/gallon' anono poster from a few months back?

We now return to our regulary scheduled blog.
