Davos delegate: "“We are on the road to serious social instability, which could be extremely dangerous in some countries to democracy itself”

“The certainties that have defined Davos for the past ten years have collapsed. We are witnessing the collapse of an entire system of ideas.”

- Guy Ryder, the general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation, telling business leaders and politicians at Davos how it really is, January 29, 2009

And this scene from FrancePANIC last night:

WTF is wrong with america? do we have sedatives in our drinking water?

I have lost 100s of thousands in my 401k, we need to protest!

Unemployment is only at about 9% that means 91% of people are still employed. Just the losers who can't find a job, time to weed out the weak.

I now truly think Obama winning is what is keeping America from taking it to the street. If McCain / Palin won there would be riots already.

People are blindly following Obama... for now. That crazy blind American optimism. Expect this to last no more than 6 months before Americans violently protest... maybe sooner!

What's wrong with you?

Just work harder. Everybody knows that if you work hard enough, you can make it in the top 1%!

I tend to agree.

I think that Bush forced neocon (conservative)thinking around the world. France with Sarkozy, Canada with Harper... the other countries are always forced to follow with a lag. So in a few years, leaders will probably more left wing.

I take it that you are still employed? Well, must be they only hire idiots then.

Riots were 'overwhelmingly peaceful'....that's not so bad,
I think the ghost running around that hospital in Derby UK is more a portent ot things to come.
Don't ghosts start acting up when something horrible is about to happen?
Scaring the living daylights out of everybody.
Even the dead are restless.

Americans will lose their jobs if they strike and protest. The French don't.

There is no 'taking it to the street'.
There will be a series of 'small revolutions'. People who are being foreclosed on are now encourged to stay in their homes, and some really important person (forgot who) is calling them 'squatters' and saying they should do everything possible to stay, because the banks have just f*ucked everybody over and they are the real criminals.
'Turn out the lights honey, the revenu-er's a comin'!
I say YEAH!
It was on Lou Dobbs last night.
(That guy that keeps smiling these weird smiles to show off his new, white dentures.)

By the way, since the Baby Boomers have bankrupted the country, allowed the nation's industry to be exported to India and China, and have us on a collision course to have a war with China, can we re-name the Baby Boomers?

How about "baby-doomers" since we're all doomed due to these overgrown, whiny, self-involved babies.

Try 20 percent unless you want to believe the guberment. Be careful when it hits 30 percent in June they will begin eating weeners like you. Then maybe not so funny Haaauuu!

Look at the contrast between yesterday's picture (a bunch of orderly folks thankful for a free cup of coffee and a doughnut) and these self-rightous assholes.

I predict Northern Command is going to see some action. ;^D

And we'll get some utility out of that detention center investment.

It'll be Red Dawn Redux, but with a decidely domestic flavor.

For years the argument was that blacks, illegal immigrants, young, uneducated, fertile, were the face of welfare.

Now we have discovered a new face; the establishment white male, old, sinister, and shriveled. I'm sure if you add up all the AFDC payments you can get to a "Bad Bank", no?

I'm asking self-identified white male middle class people like myself to really do some soul searching and to think about our ancestors, how they built a world that really defied human shittiness, and I am asking you to awaken to the divide and conquer strategy used by the bankers.

We need a new paradigm.

rioting is a hobby over there. It would be like defining America when the celtics win and someone over turns a car.

this article made me laugh since it offered up the viewpoint that investors liked banks that were less leveraged.

the whole mortgage backed security problem came from the banks offloading garbage on wall street so banks could replenish their "cash on hand" and loan it out again-- from what I understand.

so now the industry wants a "bad assets bank," a new dumping ground, since wall street's criminality was outed!

if the article was honest, it would have suggested that investors like banks who can offload risk on someone else!

moreover, the banks are probably waiting for the economy to crash so they can buy up assets cheaply!

Afterthough, at what age did you acquire this wisdom of the ages? 17? Ironic.

Either you're a boy genius or you've been successfully borged into a self loathing racist.

I'm suspecting the later. Please grow a pair or kill yourself.

did wall street use to call those things spin offs?

so what were these "certainties" that proved false?

lemme guess a few:

-real estate only goes up

-the China/USA lend/spend model was sustainable

-central banks trump the invisible hand

-if you feed people and get them addicted to your nanny-state, then they will just die off peacefully when the nanny-state stops providing

:-)

Maybe we can start a website which will start to build support for our own demonstrations.

I pledge to chip in $100 for internet ads linking to such a site.

We are just going to keep on getting hosed (some would use stronger language) until we get the PTB scared that there will be riots.

"We are witnessing the collapse of an entire system of ideas.”

Actually, we are witnessing the collapse of an entire system of racketeering and corrupt practices.

Accountability must now reign supreme.

RICO THE MOTHERF*CKERS!

Seems like complaining and self-indulgent pity parties are the path of least resistance for those affected. Better than serious violence, because I really don't think you'll like that much.

It seems that in the US, it is part-of the programming we get from the dumb-tube and thusly pre-empting a greater un-rest amongst the sheep. I see it as vicarious association and victimization response, or something like that to psychologically control people.

It's why I just can't take the network news, they try to put everyone in the unfortunates position and we empathize with it and makes more neutral in our natural response to unjust things.

No, I'd doubt that we'll take to the streets because of the economy, we'll sit in front of the idiot box and watch the french do that kind-of thing. The Obama throngs don't even pick-up their garbage.

The demographics have changed, the new paradigm in the US is to wait around for the bailout check to arrive........

The globalists/bankers better use some of that stolen/bailout money to hire privite security armies. The politicos military will be to busy protecting them. Oh what a tangled web.

Why is it that rioters don't go to the nearest Army Surplus store to buy the same equipment that law enforcement has? I mean, how much is an used helmet and baton there? $10? I never get that. Just asking.

LOL. You mean like the consultant types that come into a company and predict its demise within 12 months unless everything is done their way?

Sorry, words don't hurt. Words don't scare. Words don't change anything. If you want their attention, you have to walk up to them and punch them in the face. Take the assault charge and get fined or go to jail. A minor price to pay.

won't see that on your local tube in the states ... at least the French have the balls to protest this shit.. The sheeple in the states are brainwashed..
