America was a great country. America did great things.

And if the people put down the Big Macs and remote, embraced science, demanded a government that answered to them, and imprisoned the bankers, it could be great, and do great things, once again.

Fairness, equality, justice, dignity, sustainibility for all.

The next big thing is changing the thinking of mankind to live in a manner that will allow the above mentioned goals to be attained. Forget the moon or new and improved happy meals!

All these space shot and infrastructure achievements are great things, and we need and want them. I fear they are from a by-gone era when Americans were focused on success and the future. Our current generation is not made of that cloth it appears. We traded hard won successes for greed and laziness. We won wars up to Viet Nam and then we quit comming out on top. Like that, we have quit comming out on top on everything. We gave up the fight. There are arguments for all we have done, or been forced to do. Some could call it the way of history, others might call it the agenda of the elite. We are into both sides of that coin these days. Just think "what if" all this financial crisis stuff really is a "Planned transfer of Trillions of dollars belonging to the middle classes to the banker elites". Phoo Phoo it if you wish, but take a moment to consider with an open mind if it were true----dwell a minute on that----mull it around---hummmm. We ARE in a financial hell of a shape--true enough---but is it a sorry state of common circumstances---or could it be something else? In a free country----YOU DECIDE.

I say it again, it's not the function of the government to be building damns, bridges, or creating jobs. That's called communism.

You forgot Al Gore who invented the internet.

Remember him? He was just another delusional democrat taking part in an ongoing pattern
of spending our tax money on .........????

May I suggest speed reading courses for ALL Americans.

I already feel oh so stimulated, don't you.

No problem we will pay for it with a carbon tax on farting cows and pigs.

Still LOVE the USA!!

Forget about it Keith. The funds for your moonshot just got spent.

I guess that's what BO meant when he said take a 'scalpel' to the budget. He meant quadrupling it after 3 weeks in office. You SOB's so screwed us. And now you sit around and blame Ayn Rand. Jezzz.

We're done Paco. Got that??? And one more thing, forget about your damn moonshot. Freakin Retards.

All the IDIOTS that claim the Moon landing was a studio created fake probably believe that Hoover Dam is an illusion , too.

I am sickened by the decline on multiple levels this great country is in. The Main Stream Media , owned and operated by special interests and their aberrational view is so deceiving it's amazing how many stupid people still sit down to get this worthless information.

No, You are Wrong on this one.

America is no longer capable of great or even good things.

America, on a good day at its very best with a lot-of-luck thrown in in barely mediocre. I would say America is grossly incompetent and corrupt at basically everything. Think George Bushco & Dick Cheneyburton -and Weep.

A Turd World Nation of Nothing and serial Nobodies.

America is DEAD.

it was a great country until americans allowed mexicans to come here to do jobs americans don't want to do and bring then bring their whole continent here and help distroy the USA by offering cheap labor, and thinking they can buy a 500,000 house picking strawberries. there is a whole lot of blame to go around. starting with companies that fired people who did do the work (who worked at the chicken killing plants before the mexicans came, that's right americans)so they could increase the bottom line by paying workers less. there is alot of blame to go around, yes there is. and just remember and mark my words when all these road progams and infrastructure contracts get awarded, you won't see a lot of american's doing those jobs, you'll see a lot mexicans (illegal) on them. there will be no relief for true americans. yes, there is plenty of blame to go around.

Losing touch here Keith. None of us did these things. And science and engineering is still advancing as we speak. America may have been less corrupt in the past.

You are right though, everything has changed, and we will never go back. But the change is the internet, technology, and an entire globe of nations now connected with globalization that mankind has never see before.

Indeed, we need to bring back Science, Engineer and Computer Science careers back to this country.

China and India are going to kick our butts! No more MBA CAREERS PLEASE! NO MORE EASY MONEY, ITS OVER. We need more engineers the true careers that require hard work, dedication, respect, and brain power to elevate our country back again to #1 status!

banks are starting to halt foreclosure proceedings because they want to wait to see what obama's plans are for stopping foreclosures.

Hmmmm, it may be time to stop paying my mortgage so that I can qualify for some of that foreclosure cash.

In his radio address, Obama vowed to spend taxpayer dollars "with unprecedented accountability, responsibility, and transparency."

uh, doesn't he mean to say that he will spend foreign investor's dollars with unprecedented accountability?

A global project: build nanotech machines into which human consciousness can be transferred.

Must be global. Must be transparent. Otherwise the few who believe in scarcity will hoard the technology and screw everyone else.

Just how screwed is Europe?

Keith,

I'm a scientist, and have big ideas how to revitalize our economy with nanotech. But dude, what % of the money being poured down the rat hole is going for science and infrastructure? Its small. Very small relative to the pork.

Also, I'm confused about your comments regarding Greenspan. As near as I can tell he utterly betrayed his former objectivist beliefs as fed head. I'm not defending Rand here, but blaming our crisis on the free market is really getting to be a tired, wrong cliche. When CB's decide the cost of money, markets can never be free.

Not forgotten at all; even bothered to look it up.

"Al Gore and the Internet

By Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf

...as the two people
who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the
Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a
Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to
our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of
time..."

Internet, from the guys who really did

Exactly. "We" don't have the means nor the willingness to ever pay off the debt. Sooner or later we will just print the money needed. People that are still lending US money are fools. Similar to those fools that were lending money to specuvestors in 2006.

Kieth,

I love you man we all do but dude don't you get it by now this is the NEW WORLD ORDER! It's actually here. We are living it more so day after day. Pheonix is a current test market. As well as Iceland. One day the world will look around and ask themselves "WTF just happened?" But it didn't "just happen". It's been happ-en-ing!

{{{ EMBRACED SCIENCE }}}

???

It's 40 years after the Moom landing!

I don't hear any SCIENTISTS talking about the planned obsolescence of automobiles. I don't hear any SCIENTISTS telling the American people that the Nitwit Economists should have been talking about the depreciation of the cars for the last 40 years.

Don't scientists buy cars?

It only took Obama 3 weeks to spend 1 Trillion dollars. That's got to be a record. Everyone's been paid back/paid off in only 3 weeks! I guess he can take the next 7 years 11 months off.

No American has ever done that before.

Americans are being SCAM by foreigners, because companies don't want to pay prevailing wage

Feds Bust Nationwide H-1B Visa Scam

The Silicon Valley has repeatedly urged Congress to raise the H-1B cap, which is currently set at 65,000 visas per fiscal year, but lawmakers have resisted, citing concerns over fraud in the H-1B program.

In October 2008, a USCIS report found that the H-1B program has more than a 20 percent violation rate. The fraud identified in the report included jobs not located where employers claimed, H-1B visa holders not being paid the prevailing wage, forged documents, fraudulent degrees and "shell businesses."

Oh please, I don't think spending 20 billion dollars (135 b in 2005 dollars) to land a handful of government employees on a dead piece of rock is exactly "doing great things".

Here's a bold-faced lie from MSNBC:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29226344/

Yea, we have Deere and Cat. But we lost Allis Chalmers, Minneapolis Moline, Oliver, Massey Ferguson.... Cessna is making their newest aircraft in China. Most parts of the Boeing 787 are made overseas. And they make blowers in Russia too, not just here.

Again, the truth: We have an economy based on debt. Housing is in depreciation. Food gets more expensive every day, and energy costs too in spite of the recent oil slide. And if I were rich, I might as well buy gold for barter.
