I think we all need to go find a Republican (good luck with that) and just give 'em a hug. Because after wrecking America, they're kinda in the dumps

It must suck to be one of the remaining Republicans.

Probably like it was to be a Nazi after the war.

Your ideas have been discredited. Your leaders have been pushed out, while some will soon be investigated and jailed. Your followers are demoralized. And your party is blamed for an epic and historic worldwide destruction.

There will be no recovery. The GOP is dead. And its members are now seen worldwide as thieves and scoundrels.

Like the Whigs, Know-Nothings, Federalists and Anti-Nebraskans before them, they'll eventually just go away. Or slither away as the case may be.

Some of their former and yet enlightened members like Ron Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger will go on, but under a new banner, with new ideas, and new leaders. Maybe even Peter Schiff.

But the Fox News, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Lee Atwater, Phil Graham, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, Mitch McConnell, Richard Shelby, John McCain, Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich, Pat Robertson, Eric Cantor, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter anti-science, anti-regulation, anti-women, anti-constitution, anti-environment, anti-minority, anti-everything except rich white men GOP - that party is dead.

And history will not be kind.

It hath been foretold.

Every politician claims they were "pointing out warning signs" years ago but nobody would listen.
Every one.
Republican or Democrat.
Clinton or Bush.
Because at this point everyone wants a scapegoat and it would be political suicide to take responsibility.

Man. What a dream job, where you can lose the company trillions of dollars and have zero accountability.

But I disagree with the post. I say both parties broke the vase, and both are pointing their fingers at the other saying the other did it.
We must get rid of both parties.

The republicans have received exactly what they deserve. They all followed lock-step with GWB and those who dissented were cut off at the knees. Those same lemmings are now crying over what BHO is doing and again, the few brave voices of the republican party are being silenced by those in charge. All the crap that BHO and his minions will do IS the legacy of Bush and his followers.

Republicans are back to being the dorky, pathetic, Alex P. Keaton, morons that we all missed from the 80s. The 8 years of Bush was an attempt by Republicans to be alpha-males, God loving and "we'll-kick-anyone's-ass" yahoos that Karl Rove invented and pushed with George W. and Dickhead Cheney. The sad part is that their master plan destroyed our country and took lives with it (Iraq, 9/11, etc.). Go Pro-life! Yeah, as long as the life is a fetus. By the way, I can never quite understand how the GOP can reconcile their founding principle of individual rights with no govt intervention with their diabolical need to strike down Roe v. Wade. How do you not come out looking hypocritical on that one? I could actually entertain the notion of being Republican if they really stuck to their small gov, individual rights (including privacy), and fiscal conservatism. But, alas, they just will do ANYTHING for power b/c their so impotent otherwise.

Pelosi Tells Maddow She 'Absolutely' Supports Criminal Investigations Into BushCo
By Susie Madrak Thursday Feb 26, 2009 9:00am

Glenn Greenwald broke this yesterday morning, but it's still news you'll want to hear. Pelosi not only came out for criminal investigations into the Bush administration, she insists Democrats did not know about criminal activities:

In an interview with Rachel Maddow ...House Speaker Nancy Pelosi repeatedly advocated the need for criminal prosecutions, not merely fact-finding. She even directly criticized the proposal by Sen. Pat Leahy for a "Truth Commission," on the ground that such a Commission would improperly immunize lawbreakers and thus foreclose prosecutions:

MADDOW: This is something that liberals have really been pushing. And you have stated your support for John Conyers convening an investigation into potential lawbreaking in the Bush administration.

PELOSI: Absolutely.

MADDOW: You've been outspoken about contempt of Congress charges related to the politicization of the Justice Department and that investigation. You have been less specific about how Congress should proceed on warrantless wiretapping and torture. Why is that? . . .

PELOSI: Senator Leahy has a proposal, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which is a good idea. What I have some concern about though is it has immunity. And I think that some of the issues involved here, like the services part, politicizing of the Justice Department, and the rest, they have criminal ramifications, and I don't think we should be giving them immunity.

Pelosi then acknowledged that the FISA bill passed by Congress in 2008 was flawed in many important respects, but said that the "part of the bill that was positive" was the requirement that the Justice Department's Inspector General investigate the NSA eavesdropping program and issue a report (due this Summer) as to the scope and legality of Bush's eavesdropping. About that comment, Maddow asked Pelosi whether she would favor criminal prosecutions if, as many people expect, the IG Report concludes that the warrantless eavesdropping was illegal:

MADDOW: Then in terms of your report, if the inspector general report that comes out this summer suggests that there has been criminal activity at the official level on issues like torture, or wireless wiretapping, or rendition, or any of these other issues...

PELOSI: No one is above the law. I think I have said that.

MADDOW: ... you support a call for a criminal investigation, potential investigation.

PELOSI: Absolutely.

That's pretty definitive.

Maddow then repeatedly, and rather relentlessly, asked Pelosi about how much she was told about the Bush's use of torture and about the warrantless eavesdropping program and whether her having known about those programs was an obstacle to investigations and prosecutions.

Pelosi's answers were largely evasive, but she was very emphatic -- I believe for the first time -- in claiming that while she was told by the CIA about potential "enhanced interrogation techniques" in "the abstract," she was never told that these techniques were actually being used. She also claimed that she put up "very strong resistance" to the NSA warrantless eavesdropping program (I've never seen any evidence of such resistance at all; the only letter from Pelosi that was disclosed was one from October, 2001, which merely raised a concern over whether the NSA had presidential authorization for the program, not whether the program itself was illegal).

But what matters here is that Pelosi insists that nothing she nor any other Democrat knew or did poses an obstacle in any way to full-scale criminal investigations.

http://crooksandliars.com

Pelosi should que herself up in line for her misdeeds in the American Samoa incidents of recent past.

Felonies are felonies.

Yes Keith the conservatives are responsible because there are not enough of them to stop Obamma.45% of this country voted against Obamma (not for McCain) in an attempt to prevent their enslavement. Twenty percent voted for Obamma because, hey he has to govern from the center. Soooooo what do you think of him now.

We will see REAL conservatives back in the Republican Party - fiscal conservative. And the final nail in the coffin of John Maynard Keynes. Unfortunately, we will see the demise of the true Kennedy era democrats as well. "Ask not what you can do for your country, but how big the Stimulus Package will be." Did the Obama Liberals know they were Socialists or were they in denial? History will not be kind to Clinton, Bush, FDR or Obama. It doesn't have to be foretold, it's simple mathematics. After only one great depression economists couldn't reliably determine the impact of Keynesian Economics. Now, it will be painfully obvious that Ron Paul and Peter Schiff are correct and Obama is wrong. When you create credit out of thin air, you are NOT creating capital. You are, in fact, diluting the currency that the true capital is measured by. It is the definition of inflation and the passage of the cruelest tax on the poor.

Oh, and by the way, an eight month, twenty-nine day old fetus is a human being. My perfectly healthy 8 year old daughter was born 4 1/2 months premature. Within another 10 years children will be born regularly in the first trimester. What does science say about today's Liberals then? Talk about History not being kind....

I don't understand why you single out the Repubs. Pelosi is just as dumb as Palin or Jindal.

The problem is not with any single party.

Look at this moron of a Democrat:

Pete Stark

Let's not forget Barney Frank, the guy who's gay lover used to run an underage prostitution ring. Chris Dodd, Rahm Emanuel, Joe Biden etc etc...

And one of the worst - Obama from the Chicago political machine cesspool who is good friends with admitted terrorists and murderers like Ayers and Dohrn, worked for the slumlord and gangster Rezko and is tied up with all manner of corrupt Democrats like Blagovich and Emanuel.

It's not as if the Dems have a stellar group of luminaries to compare to.

Ayers organized fundraisers for Obama, they've worked together on the boards of foundations and they live in the same neighbourhood. Ayers admits that he was responsible for the deaths of many during his time as a Weatherman. Have you ever asked yourself why a person like Ayers is not in prison or received the death penalty?

How does an admitted terrorist and the son of a wealthy board member of General Dynamics (military industrial complex) go on to become a professor of education and not be arrested for his crimes as a Weatherman?

Do some real research instead of just lapping up all of the crap that the mainstream press shovels at you, Keith. We can whine about the Republicans till the cows come home but we'll never get to the root problems we are facing today.

Fellows, Barney Frank's lover was an adult and his services were for other adult males.

In fact, once Barney announced that he was gay, the media dropped the story. They didn't want to have to write guy-on-guy details about his private life. I guess that's when the editors turn the lights off.

The reason why the media didn't drop the Monica story was because it was an older married man and a young single woman which brought up the Puritanical hypocrisy of our society. Hence, the details about the oral technique, the dress stain, draping over the Great Seal in the Oval Office { like doing it in a confession stall in a church }, and all other lurid fantasies out there.

And to the legal eagles out there, why would Clinton tell everyone at the Paula Jones deposition that he liked to boink women, outside of marriage? I mean c'mon, that was the legal precedent of the whole Ken Starr prosecution?

2010 will be a repeat of 1994 simply because America will want a Republican Congress to stop Obama. And Obama's doing a bang up job: In four weeks he's added more to the national debt than Bush did in eight years. He's already budgeted a $1.75 trillion deficit for 2010, and the reality is that it will be double that.

Anonymous said...

Keith, I'm not a Republican but I have to say that this outburts was a bit inappropriate. I'll refrain from commenting on it other than to disabuse of your belief (gained from that idiotic site called Wikipedia) that Nazis were right wingers. They were Socialists, just like the current Dem Party is. Nazi is a acronym/nickname that stands for National Socialists...the full name of Hitler's party was the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP).

Read this from a reputable source, not Wiki.com:

In 1919 Anton Drexler, Gottfried Feder and Dietrich Eckart formed the German Worker's Party (GPW) in Munich. The German Army was worried that it was a left-wing revolutionary group and sent Adolf Hitler, one of its education officers, to spy on the organization. Hitler discovered that the party's political ideas were similar to his own. He approved of Drexler's German nationalism and anti-Semitism but was unimpressed with the way the party was organized. Although there as a spy, Hitler could not restrain himself when a member made a point he disagreed with, and he stood up and made a passionate speech on the subject.

Anton Drexler was impressed with Hitler's abilities as an orator and invited him to join the party. At first Hitler was reluctant, but urged on by his commanding officer, Captain Karl Mayr, he eventually agreed. He was only the fifty-fourth person to join the German Worker's Party. Hitler was immediately asked to join the executive committee and was later appointed the party's propaganda manager.

In the next few weeks Hitler brought several members of his army into the party, including one of his commanding officers, Captain Ernst Roehm. The arrival of Roehm was an important development as he had access to the army political fund and was able to transfer some of the money into the GWP.

The German Worker's Party used some of this money to advertise their meetings. Adolf Hitler was often the main speaker and it was during this period that he developed the techniques that made him into such a persuasive orator.

Hitler's reputation as an orator grew and it soon became clear that he was the main reason why people were joining the party. This gave Hitler tremendous power within the organization as they knew they could not afford to lose him.

In April, 1920, Hitler advocated that the party should change its name to the National Socialist German Workers Party (NSDAP). Hitler had always been hostile to socialist ideas, especially those that involved racial or sexual equality. However, socialism was a popular political philosophy in Germany after the First World War. This was reflected in the growth in the German Social Democrat Party (SDP), the largest political party in Germany.

Hitler, therefore redefined socialism by placing the word 'National' before it. He claimed he was only in favour of equality for those who had "German blood". Jews and other "aliens" would lose their rights of citizenship, and immigration of non-Germans should be brought to an end.

In February 1920, the NSDAP published its first programme which became known as the "Twenty-Five Points". In the programme the party refused to accept the terms of the Versailles Treaty and called for the reunification of all German people. To reinforce their ideas on nationalism, equal rights were only to be given to German citizens. "Foreigners" and "aliens" would be denied these rights.

To appeal to the working class and socialists, the programme included several measures that would redistribute income and war profits, profit-sharing in large industries, nationalization of trusts, increases in old-age pensions and free education.

On 24th February, 1920, the NSDAP (later nicknamed the Nazi Party) held a mass rally where it announced its new programme. The rally was attended by over 2,000 people, a great improvement on the 25 people who were at Hitler's first party meeting.

Adolf Hitler knew that the growth in the party was mainly due to his skills as an orator and in the autumn of 1921 he challenged Anton Drexler for the leadership of the party. After brief resistance Drexler accepted the inevitable, and Hitler became the new leader of the organization.

Hitler's ability to arouse in his supporters emotions of anger and hate often resulted in their committing acts of violence. In September 1921, Hitler was sent to prison for three months for being part of a mob who beat up a rival politician.

When Hitler was released, he formed his own private army called Sturm Abteilung (Storm Section). The SA (also known as stormtroopers or brownshirts) were instructed to disrupt the meetings of political opponents and to protect Hitler from revenge attacks. Captain Ernst Roehm of the Bavarian Army played an important role in recruiting these men, and Hermann Goering, a former air-force pilot, became their leader.
