Republicans, after wrecking America, were dismissed. They are a fringe party, wandering in the political wilderness. But will they return?

America needs checks and balances. It needs a Coke to a Pepsi. It needs at least two viable political parties. Check that. It needs at least two viable political parties that AREN'T the corrupt Democrats or the Republicans. But that's what we're stuck with, since the system is fixed.

That said, now we're down to one viable party. The GOP has been destroyed. And believe it or not, that's bad news for America. Because Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid running around DC unchecked is a scary, scary thought.

But, like Jason or Chucky, the Republicans can eventually awaken from the dead. They'll likely wander in the political wilderness now, maybe for a generation. But eventually, they'll likely come back.

How?

A) The Democrats f*ck it up so bad that the GOP becomes the "Not Them" choice in the voting booth

B) The GOP drops the hateful right wing religious crazy anti-science Sarah Palin Karl Rove crap, and re-emerges as a pro-science, pro-business, pro-separation-of-church-and-state, pro-limited-government, anti-war, pro-environment, anti-tax party of sane adults

The GOP will be out of power for quite some time. The damage they caused the nation and the world these past eight years is so great, they're truly the Nazi party of America. They might need to change their name, the brand is so damaged. And you know what, eventually I think they will.

The New GOP. The Grand New Party. The New Republicans. Something like that.

Why?

Because the old one sucked.

And for sh*ts and giggles, check out the future of the New Republican Party here.

the republicans will be back but not due to anything they will do.

It will be the voters getting fed up with the dumocrats and voting them out.

hmmm, heard that the democrats are considering legislation that states as scientific proof that vaccinations cause autism. it will enable families with autistic children to sue evil drug companies.

And then they broke out the bong.

The last resurrection of the GOP was as a Dixiecrat party. They realized that the average white idiot would rather lose their jobs and homes than see a black in the middle class.

The average white idiots got their wish, and then elected a black man named Hussein... go figure.

It was the Republican Saint Ronald Reagan that invited all the religious zealots into the Republican party. He was probably already suffering from old timer's disease back then. He also got the ball rolling on destroying the middle class, outsourcing jobs, turbo capitalism and record deficits. He did more damage to this country than Bush because he laid the ground work for idiots like Bush to get that far in the first place. It's time for the responsible, pro-science and fiscally conservative part of the Republicans to break with the flat earth supporters and hate mongers like Palin, Gingrich and the most recent crew that wrecked America.

The two parties are two sides of the same coin.

Therein lies the rub.

There's no Republican or Democratic party. It's all a shell game to fool the sheep, a type of bad cop-good cop mind play.

There's only one shadow government controlling both parties. When are you going to put this into your heads?

Just look at how both parties always fake disagreement, but always vote together: Iraq war (Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, Clinton voted for it), TARP, Bailouts, etc. This last Stimulus vote was hilarious, as the bill passed by 1 (ONE) vote. Ha! Only a fool wouldn't notice that was rigged.

Try to disconnect yourself from the mind games being played on you by these phony idea of 2-party system, with help of the corrupt media like Keith Olberman & Faux News. You'll start noticing a pattern of deception.

The shadow government really in charge loves when the sheep buys into the "two-party" mind control scheme. It's as fake as today's rally in the last 15 minutes of closing.

The stock market is rigged, economic indicators are rigged, Balance Sheets are rigged, credit ratings are rigged, the elections are rigged, gasoline and oil prices are rigged, your political parties are rigged, nonprofits are rigged, charities are rigged, scientific reports are rigged, all to transfer money from taxpayers to the elite on top. It's all rigged and you're the sucker!

So please, stop selling the 2-party system phony thing. There's no 2-party system, only 1. Don't be an enabler of this pathetic deception.

It's irresponsible of Gregg to withdraw his nomination as Commerce Secretary in the middle of the worst economic crisis in our history. He could have at least stuck around until the market/economy stabilized a bit. Maybe he knows something we don't.

Even if it's really about the Census Bureau being moved from Commerce to the White House he could have considered the impact this will have on the already frazzled and beaten down public.

This will not look good on his resume!

Maybe the libertarian party can get a chance now. That would be sweet!

This could end up quite extreme to the right. THe question is, what will that right wing look like? There is obviously a lot of resentment against baby boomers who seem to be getting blamed for a lot. Or possibly just whites, who will soon be in the minority. Whenever people are really hurting and have a target to blame, and a propaganda machine (the media) to promote it, it ain't too good - e.g. Germany prior to WWII.

This seriously could get our of hand.

The trouble with the Republicans was that they were not "fiscally" conservative. Ron Paul may be the only one. A fiscal conservative doesn't go to war if he can't afford it. He doesn't support legislation that encourages excessive consumption among people who cannot pay their bills. He does NOT pass the TARP legislation last year!! (i don't need any other evidence than that).

The states are not as blue as you portray them. They are all more shades of purple. The Stimulus Bill will launch us into the Greatest Depression and keep us there until the Republicans return with Fiscal Conservatism.

Why didn't answer the Julio the Burger Flipper with "Ask not what your country can do for you..."?

They show no signs of having learned anything. They still listen to Limbaugh, they still all vote the same way. When any Republican tries to be even a little bit independent, they try to destroy them. They still act like they are on the Republican team first, the hell with America and anyone who dares not follow them 100%.

They remain the hate party, a cult, showing no signs of changing even after 2006 and 2008.

It would be nice if the republican party would be recast as a modern entity with modern views, but alas it's filled with ignorant religious red necks.

They can change their name, but they can't change their true nature.

Wherever there is peace and prosperity taking root, they will be working feverishly to incite fear and loathing -- and greedily conspiring to profit from the disorder...

May the corrupt sleezy and selfish Republicans never return.

It's a given that all politicians are corrupt, but none like the republicans.

During the Clinton years there was at least some by-partisanship. When Republicans took over, it was over. They gave themselves tax breaks, kicked off all the wars they wanted, laughed at Democrats in congress, laughed at the american people, and passed the laws to enrich themselves (bankrupcy laws, etc). Another thing, how come chief justice judges are always chosen during Republican governments, making the chief justices, REPUBLICAN. Is this shit legal?????

Oh, and they also get to chose the Fed. Oh man, they also get to drive the FBI and CIA.

Am I the only one that can see how DANGEROUS the REPUBLICAN party is????

Check and balances my ass, Republicans are always in charge in my book.

If the GOP can exorcist the neo-cons from its ranks, they will eventually be forgiven their sins.

The neo-cons, however, must be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Wow, Keith - for all your smarts and insight, you sure were double conned during the 2008 elections. For one thing, maybe your being out of the country means you aren't keeping up with things around here, but the Democrats - and that includes Obama - have screwed things up so much in the past few weeks that the Dems and Republicans are tied in public opinion polls now.

Tied! The Republicans - who completely tanked the US economy in 8 years and the Democrats, who - just a few weeks ago - had a "transformational savior" helming things are now tied in popularity. That's some F'd up S. But, far from "wandering in the wilderness," the republicans have been handed a big fat gift tied in a bow with a kiss by Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Obama's clueless CofStaff, Emanuel and are (astonishingly) experiencing a nascent resurgence!!

Second, seriously - how long are you now going to act as if Obama doesn't exist as POTUS? Pelosi and Reid are apparently the only democrats you know of these days. In case it escaped you, Obama is now the HEAD of the democratic party. He's supposed to be leading things. If he is, he's leading a disaster, and if he isn't, then he's about as incompetent and uninvolved as Bush. I understand your past support for Obama is embarrasing to you right now (particularly since he appointed a tax cheating monkey to get the US out of the economic abyss) - and will be for the duration of the 1 term he is president - but you're making it even more obvious when you just ignore his existence.

Thirdly - and maybe a minor point, because it's not like I would vote for her given that I don't agree with her on issues - but your hatred of Palin based on complete lies the media fed you and every other gullible American last year makes me wonder how much you were actually paying attention during the elections. She's not exactly all that right wing - she is governor of an anti-death penalty state, she's vetoed an anti-gay domestic partners bill; she's libertarian - sure - but hardly right wing. And, the whole "Palin is anti-science" was based on complete and utter lies by liberals who were also peddling trash like "Palin's baby is not really hers." This is the kind of scum who you've been believing apparently when you should have been delving more deeply into Obama's background, lack of spine and vision (other than hopey, changey) and complete lack of ever having run anything successfully in his life.

I don't know how to tell you this Keith, but the USA is a one party state. What is unusual about our political party is that it has two heads, one labeled "Democrat", and the other "Republican".

The political system in the US is designed on the principle that nobody has a monopoly on wisdom. Everyone's homework needs to be checked.

The problem for the last eight years was that the bunch in charge were wild-eyed oggiedy-boogedy religious fanatics, who felt like they had a direct line to "a higher father."

They didn't need balance because they knew The Truth. Theirs was the right and the might to do as they saw fit, without listening to any other voices.

The results of that are crashing down around our ears right now.

Say what you want about Obama, he's at least trying to reach out to GOP voices, to include dissenting views in his gov't. The problem with the GOP is that they are held hostage by demagogues such as Rush, to whom the idea of inclusion is heresy. Until the GOP can accept the notion that there are times that they need to listen to other people, rather than mindlessly shout slogans and parrot party lines, they will not do the job that they are supposed to do, and that is to act as a check on Democratic power.

The party will eventually return, when they eject the fundies and get back to the business of governing the nation, rather than trying to legislate morality.

The Repubs will be back sooner than we think, and they'll come back with a vengeance!
The Dems have a history of f*cking things up. There is talk that "ATruth Commission" is to be set up by Leahy and Conyers to investigate former administration officials. That's a timid step, but a good start.
The only way the Dems can delay the return of the neo-cons is to make sure a thorough investigation is set up to bring the culprits behind this debacle to justice, including corrupt individuals from the Democtratic Party.
Would they do it? I doubt it, but it's the only way the Dems can make a lasting impression in this 21st Century.
It's not Obama's job to investigate the criminals who drove the country to the abyss--it's rather the job of Congress. But then, who is not corrupt on Capitol HELL?

Meet the Bastards: Republicans In Name Only (RINOs)

They have infiltrated the GOP and contaminated its constituency since their 'Contract on America' set the course for our current runaway debt situation.

Incredibly over-represented in MSM by the lavishly-compensated shills: Hannity, Limbaugh, Gingrich, etc., they serve to derail/disrupt any attempt to constrict the trillion$ spent to feed the National Security Industry.

Spreading the seeds of conflict is their stock and trade.

Peaceful co-existance is their hell -- and eventual demise.

It's damn time somebody sued those criminals. One would hope people finally wake up and actually think about who they are voting for. One would hope people stop saying, "well all politicians are crooked, but he seems a little less slimey than the other guy". One would hope people consider giving the system a good flush.

One thing I think you'll be right about is, they propbably won't.

However, you are way off in thinking the dem's are going on a run. Unless we somehow miraculously turn around. As was proven in this last election, the economy, jobs and their 401k's are truly the major motivator of people when things are bad. As long as their stocks and homes are going up in value, they'll look at and listen to all the rhetoric. But when things are bad or getting bad, they will just vote the incumbent out. And this is going to be worse than Carter's term. This baby's going down in a HUGE ball of flames. Like I said, unless a miracle happens and things all of sudden start to get better. A 1 in 100 chance at best.

Then you're going to have Sarah Palin saying, "National deficit is XX trillion. Spending is higher than ever. Government is bigger than ever. All he did was spend, spend, spend and we are still in a depression. He did NOTHING to help matters. And I'm a HOCKEY MOM WHO KNOWS A THING OR TWO ABOUT BEING THRIFTY AND SPENDING LESS".

Hell, the 20% unemployed will automatically vote for the other party. And just like that, you'll have president Palin and four more years of crap. I could write her speeches for her, it will be that easy. And no, I am not saying Palin is going to be the chosen Repub. It's just to make a point.

I wish I was wrong on this, but I doubt it. I wish the next 4 years of corruption and inepitude would open peoples eyes. But, probably not. But I'd bet the farm that unless the economy shows SOME improvement (highly unlikely, its actually going to be much worse in 4 yrs), Obama's got ZERO shot.

Yep, ultraliberal California is the "model" to follow:

LA Times -- Octuplets doctor has another patient expecting quadruplets

A few months after Dr. Michael Kamrava helped Nadya Suleman become pregnant with octuplets, he transferred at least seven embryos to another patient.

She was in her late 40s and wanted just one baby.

Now she's five months pregnant with quadruplets and hospitalized at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, according to several sources familiar with the situation.

The woman has three grown children from a previous marriage but wanted another child with her second husband, who is in his early 30s and doesn't have any children, sources said. She works as an apartment manager; her husband is a contractor.

Oh yeah, the apartment manager and a contractor have money to raise 7 children and pay the hospital bill.

Pay up, taxpayer suckers! And you granola bar enthusiasts from CA still have the nerve to whine about global warming or carbon print, while pumping millions and millions of people through either the border or a vagina. Hey, Pelosi, Boxer, and Feinstein need their votes, right?

And no, I'm not a Republican.

Your 2-party system, where the mainstream media cherry-picks the candidates favoured by entrenched special interests, is ridiculous.

The american presidential election process is a tasteless, obscene joke that should not be uttered in front of children.

How can you justify spending 2 years of campaigning (not to mention hundreds of millions of dollars) for a position with a term of only 4 years? For a position that is 'checked and balanced' to the point of powerlessness. What sense does that make?

You spend so much time naval-gazing and smelling your own shit that you don't realize how much is going on in the rest of the world that you have totally missed.

America, as a country, is utterly self-absorbed. American political culture is pathologically narcissistic.

Tragically, electoral reform is the last thing on anyone's mind.

New Quinnipiac University polls show a growing distrust of Sen. Christopher J. Dodd but soaring popularity for Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

The poll reported that 54 percent of state voters aren't satisfied with Dodd's explanation of sweetheart loans he got from a failed mortgage lender. Worse, 51 percent of voters aren't inclined to vote to re-elect Dodd should the Democratic senator choose to run next year.

Christopher Healy, state chairman of the Republican Party, declared that new Quinnipiac poll shows Dodd is on "life support."

Dodd doesn't appear to have helped himself concerning controversial allegations that he received special rates from Countrywide Financial Corp. when he refinanced two home loans in 2003.

Keith, two parties don't work in the USA, since they are just the left and right wings on the same bird of prey that's eating your guts out.

That bird is called the Corporate War Party. It supports corporations, war, money and little else.

The USA actually needs 5-8 parties in active jockeying in the Congress, forming coalition governments. That's what European nations do, and they are largely civilized and cultured societies, whereas we are neither.

Here's what the USA should have:

Social Conservatives - Nothing needs to change, don't dare do it.

Social Liberals - Change is great, let's see what happens.

Fiscal Conservatives - Reduce the size of government.

Fiscal Liberals - Increase the size of government.

Rightwingers - Kill fags and flag-burners.

Leftwingers - Kill polluters and anyone with a gun.

Constitutionalists - Just read the document and everything should be fine.

Moderates - Can't we just find a compromise?

I'm guessing the GOP will regain Congress in 2010 with the mandate to "stop Obama." Not that they have a single good idea. But complete gridlock is preferable to an administration that spends a trillion dollars a week on pork barrel projects and handouts to Wall Street.

The national debt will double to $20 trillion by June. When do you suppose Tiny Tim will resort to the printing press?

Even 50 percent a year inflation will be disasterous. We could see 1,000 percent.

Why isn't anyone pissed off at the doctors who are doing this? These women aren't impregnating themselves. There were 46 medical mafiosos involved with the Octuplet Lady. Why isn't anyone stalking and harrassing them? The Octopulet Lady obviously has a few sanity issues, but it took all these doctors to impregnate her and then remove a few of the fertilized eggs to give her the eight babies.

Hi,

This is a documentary presentation by David Icke – Big Brother, the Big Picture. I recommend you watch this and pass this on to everyone on your list. This is probably the best summary of the big picture going on right now I have seen. Excellent at putting it all together you will be challenged when you watch this. You will laugh too.

You see most people love and admire the men that are master Liars but then they will not acknowledge those that speak the truth…why because most people don’t want to know the truth because with truth comes responsibility and most people want to just sit on their asses. You and I must become aware of what is going on and get others to become aware, as how will you look into children’s eyes and answer them when they ask you what did you do to stop this? What will you do?

The Communists in the old Soviet Union were more obvious: one party, and you had no real choice.

Here in the USA, they are more subtle: two parties, and you have no real choice.

Perhaps if the Communists had decided to break into two competing parties, fighting over meaningless cr*p (somewhat like Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia in Orwell's 1984), but agreeing on all essentials -- just like the two-party system here does -- they'd still be in power in Eastern Europe.

Isn't it odd that it doesn't matter which party is in power, we are still fighting stupid wars and our government spends more and more and more?
