_______

Unfortunately, as the investigations proceed into the rampant fraud at Freddie, Fannie, Countrywide, Indymac, WaMu, First Federal and so many others, you'll see more of this.

Some people can adjust to the idea of spending their lives in jail. Others can't.

I truly feel sorry for his family, and be civil with your comments folks. Remember there is a chance this has nothing to do with the criminal activity at Freddie Mac.

But you wonder what he knew, if he was involved in the criminal activity, and why he decided to kill himself while destroying his name and family, instead of doing a plea and turning states evidence if he was.

And you wonder what exactly is going on in these organizations who have taken America and the world to the brink of ruin. They need to be raided, the documents seized, and their leaders interviewed under oath as soon as possible, before it's too late.

Acting CFO of Freddie Mac commits suicide

VIENNA, Va. -- The acting chief financial officer of Freddie Mac, David Kellermann, has apparently committed suicide, Fairfax County Police tell WTOP.

Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Mary Anne Jennings says Kellermann, 41, was found at his Hunter Mill Estates home Wednesday morning.

Jennings says police responded to the home after family members called police around 5 a.m.

"We were called from inside the house to come investigate an apparent suicide," Jennings says.

Because of legal ramifications, Jennings says she can't describe the nature of the suicide.

"We're not to give you details of the condition of the body, except to say it was an apparent suicide," Jennings says.

A final determination that his death was a suicide will come from a medical examiner.

Kellermann has been with Freddie Mac for more than 16 years.

He was named acting chief financial officer of the agency in September 2008. He took over after Anthony "Buddy" Piszel resigned.

As CFO, Kellermann is responsible for the company's financial controls, financial reporting and oversight of the company's budget and financial planning.

Freddie Mac has declined to comment.

Not sure if I reported this at the time, but the guy who was most responsible for the Phoenix housing ponzi scheme, Scott Coles at Mortgages Ltd., killed himself too.

His firm took in the investors' money and then let it out willy nilly to condo developers all over town. And now all those condos are in foreclosure or bankrupt - Elevation Chandler, Tempe Centerpoint, X10 Wine Lofts, Hotel Monroe, and pretty much anything Grace or Avenue LLC were slapping up.

Mortgages Ltd. filed for bankruptcy of course too, right after he did himself in.

Make the mess, screw your family, then don't stick around to own up to what you've done or see your day of justice, seems to be par for the course with some folks.

Mortgages Ltd. Chairman/CEO Scott M. Coles Found Dead Monday

Scott M. Coles, the Chairman and CEO of Mortgages Ltd., was found dead Monday in his Phoenix home. Coles was 48 years old.

Coles died after an apparent suicide, but the autopsy will determine the full cause of death.

Mortgages Ltd. will hold a conference call on June 10 at 11am to determine where they move forward with the company after Coles' death.

Laura Martini will serve as Mortgages Ltd.'s interim president. State bank regulators announced Tuesday that they will help oversee the transition process.

Arizona Corporation Commission filings show Coles was Mortgages Ltd.'s top executive and its only corporate director. SMC Revocable Trust is listed as the lending firm's sole shareholder.

Coles joined Mortgages Ltd. in 1987, became President in 1992, and took over as CEO/Chairman in 1995. Mortgages Ltd. has become the biggest private commercial mortgage lender in the state of Arizona, producing $3.3 billion in transactions in 2006 alone.

The sad thing is, it's often people with at least a shred of conscience who kill themselves. The truly amoral ones don't feel any shame. They don't see any reason to top themselves (as the saying for "commit suicide" goes here) aside from the inconvenience of dealing with court proceedings. You won't see a story like this with Mozillo's name in it.

Acknowledging anonymous said...

who has the knolledgeThank God you'll never be killed on the basis of YOUR knowledge, anonymous!

blogger said...

I disagree Bukko. The weak kill themselves. The strong don't f*ck over their families like that, and if need be take their punishment, or try to make something good out of what they've done.

Michael Milken is a good case. Look what he's done after he did his time. And I bet there's hundreds of people at Countrywide who are a bit nervous of jail right now. Stick around I say, turn states evidence, and get the big shark - Mozilo.

This guy at Freddie, if he was complicit, could have easily gotten off or little time if he had spilled it, and let the investigators go after the big guys.

This story is sad. But there's gonna be a lot more too it. Including probably a small chance he was murdered. Stay tuned. The Great Unwinding is gonna move to the suicides, investigations, show trials, jail terms and clawback and fines stage soon enough.

We've been here before.

I think you blog is interesting, especial the contradictions. You glory in the new president, yet ignore the fact that he was instrumental in blocking reform attempts of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae in 03, 05 and 07. Obama and Biden are both loaded with funds from Fannie lobbyists, and did they fair share to keep the crooks in business.

Not only did he work to keep them from being regulated he has continued to help our his Fannie Mae cronies, rewarding crooks from that company with jobs as head of his selection committee and chief of staff. Change indeed!

Yes, we have to wonder why he committed suicide. We have to wonder what Obama had to do with it. P.S. I am no steller fan of the previous presidency either, but that doesn't mean this one is any better.

What happened to America?”

What a great question..

Answer = blurring of the lines between good and bad is destroying us..

Even though we were always an open society, to some degree we remained isolated from really stupid ideas. (the ones that kept half the world in the slums)

In our age of information and the internet; Eurotard type ideas (chocolate covered evil) and backward concepts from places like Saudi Arabia appear equal to the more evolved concepts and ideas.

I’ll bet that even most readers on this blog would argue that it is important to ‘gain the respect’ of the ‘international community’

We used to be a people that did the ‘right thing’ no matter what others think of us, this is what made us special.

Most on this blog ( a smart community) would also argue that our being a little tough on those who plan to kill us ‘makes us look bad’ (i.e. Abu ghraib and Gitmo), clearly blurring the lines between the good guys and bad guys, and clearly we have every right to push back on the bullies, again many now think that ‘we are the bullies’ because of the successes we have achieved by rebelling those stupid ideas over 200 years ago,
which is some how wrong????

It is why Obama is dead wrong on kissing up to those dictators, providing the same level of respect to murderers and life savers

We use to know for sure that we are doing the right thing,
now with countries like Saudi Arabia who spend billions on pumping ignorant ideas on the internet and universities,
Europes primary interest in marinating relevance has been sabotaging us every step of the way for the past 10 years (key reason for creating EU) sugar coats as many horrible concepts as possible to create an equal view on good and bad.

But no worries, truth will always come to the surface, it is up to us on how long it takes.

this is the Dem wayObama you fucked it up goodWOW some of you stupid idiot fools are really amazing.

The LEAST you could do is GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT, not to mention your VALUES, at least ONCE in a while.

First of all, KELLERMAN WAS A REPUBLICAN. He donated money to a republican.

http://www.opensecrets.org/indivs/search.php?name=kellerman&state=VA&zip=&employ=&cand=&c2008=Y&c2006=Y&c2004=Y&sort=N&capcode=mcqqn&submit=Submit

GOT IT?!?!?!

Why do you idiots think that just because a Dem president got elected, that everyone now in positions of power is a Dem?

Secondly, IF someone is a key player in this mess, the HONORABLE thing is to off yourself. Like they do in China.

This is in contrast to the likes of "I can't think of anything I did wrong" Bush, or "secret Energy deals" Cheney, or "I'm not a crook" Nixon. Now THAT is DISHONORABLE.

Thirdly, Obama didn't fuck it up, he so far just failed to fix something that the THIEVING FASCIST SPEND-AND-DEBT REPUBLICANS already had fucked up beyond all recovery. You know who I'm talking about: Enron-and-private-soc-sec-Bush, No-Gold-Nixon, and "we don't need no stinkin' Great Depression protection" Phil Gramm. Not to mention McCain, who said in the second debate and on his website that he wanted to CUT SOC SEC BENEFITS FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE RECIPIENTS AND USE THE MONEY FOR TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH.

So if you can't get your facts straight, idiots, SHUT THE FUCK UP, and spend your time hoping your wealth and job prospects don't go to zero in the wake of your party STEALING THEM for their OWN GAIN.

Anyone find any details yet on what happened here? Pretty quiet from where I sit.

blogger said...

I take it back.

Get the "he was murdered" theories going.

ABC News is reporting that he was found hanging.

And as we all know (from watching CSI), if you're gonna kill someone in the night, make it look like a suicide in his home, you either hang him, or poison him.

So who would want him dead?

Top 5 Suspects:

1) Leland Brendsel (corrupt former CEO, definitely fearful of prison even after his $16.4 million settlement)

2) Richard Syron, current CEO who enriched himself to the tune of $20 million last year, while hiding the truth

3) Former CFO Anthony S. Piszel, who Kellerman replaced. No doubt Piszel is under investigation, as he was minding the till during the worst of the fraud

4) Chris Dodd. 'nuff said.

5) Angelo Mozilo. 'nuff said.

Here's the ABC 'found hanging' report. Sorry if this is insensitive, but 'found hanging' is pretty fricking disturbing. Even when the officials tell you it was a suicide later this week. Too many had too much to lose if this guy went states' evidence.

If he got suicided I doubt we'll ever know. That's easy to cover up unless they do a really thorough search for signs of struggle but pros could plastic bag him while holding him without bruises then hang him up while he's knocked out. You could also strangle him with the same rope you hang him with later. I'm no CSI watcher but I bet that is hard to detect.

What happened to America?

_________________________________________

This is an exerpt of a comment that I made regarding the condition of Detroit from a post on the 4th of April.
----------------------------------------
I have asked myself this question since I was a teen. The most compelling answer that I can come up with is...

America and it's "principles" are one big lie. And we lie to ourselves about the lie. Now the problem is we have sold this lie to most of the world.

ie...

There is no free market.

Racism is the real cause of most of our social issues especially in our major cities that were critical to our development as a nation.

We are not free. Especially if you own a cell phone or computer.

The people of this nation let political views override common sense.

Our standard of living is, was, not real, unsustainable and made possible by access to credit.

We let entertainers and celebs lie to us about their lifestyles and habits. Then we try to live out their lies.

We are arogant, pompous and refuse to look to other nations for solutions to common problems.

I love America and being an African American in America! I just hate being lied too.

Last weekend, a few miles from me, in Middletown MD., a father killed his 3 kids, wife and himself. They had debt around $460k, an unsold house in FL, a 2nd & 3rd mortgage on it, and high credit card debt. Up the road, in Towson, MD., was a NY family murder/suicide in a room at the Sheraton. The father ran or was somehow involved in a questionable investment scheme. Thing is, the moral bankruptcy and disordered way of life has been going on for years, but it's as if the music stopped, it's past last call, and the reality is too much to bear for some. Very, very sad. With a solid foundation, whether strong religious faith or some sort of core philosophy of substance, rather than a life centered on materialism-- perhaps these people wouldn't snap.

Keith:

Not entirely out of the question. He probably knew enough to land a bunch of higher ups in prison including several of our corrupt Congress frausters. Hanging yourself is not the most pleasant way to go either, slow and painful. Most people would chose a faster less agonizing way to depart but then again, some people prefer to set themselves on fire.
With the money he was making he should have been sitting pretty. Fat bank account in the Caymans, Belize and a sack of Krugerrands burried in the back yard. Valid passort and enough cash on hand for a quick getaway. Not really a reason to kill youeself, but of course all this is speculation.
Maybe his suicide wasn't related to his job, there're other things that can push people over the edge but it sure seems suspicious.

Or maybe he was just a coward. Or maybe he was honorable because he didn't want to be a rat.
Impossible to make the call without knowing the true motives or circumstances.
We will probably never know.
