Monkeys. Floating on a rock. Sometimes, the monkeys leave the rock. Meanwhile, back on the rock, monkeys concern themselves over trivial things.

Sometimes the monkeys think the rock is infinite, overpopulate like bacteria and wipe themselves out. Well, OK, that only happens once, but it happens to all other populations with no predator.

The battle over Miss California was a good example of trivial things

Actually we don't float, we waddle on the rock. See the overweight thread.

Thank you very much.

Or maybe a monkey is as high a form of life as there is in the universe, because the odds of the universe being anything but a simulation become increasingly unlikely as we understand more and more about quantum weirdness. Now, another universe..sure...monkeys...i'll go with that. Personally, I think Will Wright is God. He just hasn't created the universe, yet. Give him some time. He'll get it. Then everything in the past will have existed in the first place. I think he just quit EA. They probably didn't want to fund the Big Bang..and who can blame them?

that last post was for the benefit of Mike Hunt, who I noticed had tuned in for this thread. Of all of us here, I suspect Mike knows the truth of existence. Where did you learn it Mike? You came to the same conclusion as me. I've been meaning to ask you. All kidding about Will Wright aside.

Will,

On the truth of existence... You wouldn't believe me if I told you.

There is no way of knowing, or proving it and that part of the beauty of this game. Maybe the secret lies in the fact that all that is born must die in this world. Remember this fact and it puts everything into perspective.

It's all a magnificent, diabolical game. A game that sucks you back in just when you think you can detach. Truly amazing. So enjoy the ride, it doesn't last forever. And investing, collecting money and wealth is just another game within the game. So is health, relationships, vanity and fame. But there is real beauty and wonder you will find in the game that is your life. As well as pain, loss & suffering. It's all in the same package.

Running a company is yet another game. All the anger against Mozillo, Obama, Bush or Hitler is irrelevant in the long run, but boy- is it a fun distraction!

The best explanation of existence I've ever heard is that God decided to sub-divide him(her)self and then individuate into beings with different levels of consciousness so that God could experience herself through experiences rather than through intellectual experience. Humans happen to be living beings with the highest level of self awareness and consciousness. Even though we are mostly animal, we can try and rationalize the consequences of our actions.

Everything we encounter- love, pain, sacrifice, lust, jealousy, greed, anger, fear, hope - and the duality of pleasure / pain are all manifestations of a way to truly experience the world and ourselves - as a part of the same stuff God is made from. There are rules of the physical world - birth and death are just one, so is strength of the illusion in which we live- but that is for another post if anyone is interested.

Enjoy the ride, monkeys.

I remember, in the crib, trying to talk, knowing what I wanted to express but not having the physical means to do so. I remember, in the crib, having to give up "knowings" in my head, to be able to understand and be in this physical world.

My niece, part American Indian, came out of the womb with her eyes open, looking around, never cried, perfect score, like "Oh, so this is where I am."

Can it be true that the personality and energy that make up some loved one, actually turns into nothing when they die? No, I don't believe it.

There is something else going on.

I don't even believe it turns into less organized energy (entropy), even though that's a law of Physics. Maybe some of it does - the body - but I think there is something more in the human being. Crazy, huh!

Nothing trivial about squelching someones personal beliefs based on a political agenda!

A (loaded) question was asked,

She answered it.

They didn't like it,

They tried to destroy her!

I guess it's true,

The left only lets you speak if it's something they want to hear.

You're talking about the lady who disagreed with Bush's decision to invade Iraq, who was screamed down by Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, and other Republican talking heads who told her to "shut up" and that she "hated America" because she disagreed with the President right?
