The good news? Wal-Mart is hiring. The bad news? Wal-Mart is hiring.

Everyday Low Prices!

I hope you enjoy your Wal-Mart shopping Americans. You've killed your towns. You've put your local businesses out of business. You made your neighbor lose his job. You've created destruction all over the land. You sold your souls for low prices and cheap sh*t.

But hey, Everyday Low Prices!

(btw anyone old enough to remember when Wal-Mart was all about 'Buy America"? If Sam Walton were alive today, I bet he'd be disgusted with what his creation became)

Wal-Mart says it will create 22,000 jobs in 2009

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – As Wal-Mart Stores Inc. opens about 150 new or expanded stores in the U.S. in 2009, the company expects to hire about 22,000 people for new positions.

Those positions include plenty of cashiers and stock clerks, but the world's largest retailer will also be adding store managers, pharmacists and personnel workers.

Don't know where to put this, Keith, but CNBC reporting minutes ago that Mozilo charged with insider trading by SEC. It's a start.

Isn't that nice that we all get to have Wal-Mart jobs while China workers get about 2 bucks a hour . Somebody is making money ,but it's not the people .

When are you all going to come to the conclusion that it's all about getting jobs that create a standard of living that isn't on the level of a slave . They won't give up the killing of the American worker easy . Do you care if you get cheap crap at Wal-Mart if you don't even have enough money to pay your rent or food costs ?

The SEC will charge Angelo Mozilo, former chairman and CEO of Countrywide Financial, with insider trading, according to people familiar with the situation.

the interesting thing is that Wal-Mart will create 22,000 jobs but, because of attrition, they'll loose (perhaps) 20,000...

Funny, I won't even step foot in this place. I'll leave it for the brain-dead masses.

Having lived in Rural TX for 10 years I saw first hand how when Wal-Mart comes to town, the old family run shops on the town squares are forced to close.

Instead of money flowing locally and staying local....it now flows to the Walton family. Now instead of a healthy multi-tiered local economy with various level incomes you have a "minimum wage" local economy dependent on the whims of a large, facelss, and unaccoutable international corporation.

You would think that people would wise up and realize that by shopping at WM they are killing their own community.

WM also "buys" the city councils of the small towns so a few corrupt individuals that could have fought a new store, will now do "whatever it takes" to move easements, restrictions, etc. to accomodate WM. These things always come out during election time...but by then the damage has already been done and the parasite allowed in.

You get what you pay for. You want it cheap...you get it cheap. People buy simple things like socks or underwear and within a couple months they are full of holes and coming apart. Would have been better paying more upfront for more quality...but oh yea, THAT store is now out of business.

Oh and those NEW JOBS...all at minimum wage with little or no benefits.

Wal-Mart is a cancer...but only because people as a whole can't see any further than next months bills.

The great consolidation of wealth continues...

Wonder if Wal-Mart is now officially "too big to fail"?

I read that story and came directly here to Soot and Ashes. . .knew you wouldn't let me down. . .yes, nice $8 an hour jobs to replace those $50 an hour jobs over at GM. . . Ok, the GM guys should have been getting $30 like Toyota US workers, then they wouldn't be in BK. . .but manufacturing still matters. . .China seems to get that.

I dont.

My brother works at W-M. He's a typical loser and even looks like the Wally character in the Dilbert comic strip.

In exchange for keeping his shitty, $12/hr job, W-M graciously cut his hours back to 32 a week. Yeah, they're hiring...at $8/hr.

Did I mention that, of the 21 young blueberry bushes that I planted on my property, the one that is the most loaded with berries was purchased at Wal-Mart?

Sorry, Keith...

I loved how the headlines on Yahoo's main page were trumpeting this. Yet they didn't even mention another 600,000+ unemployed in the past month.

Pump Monkeys. This crap doesn't mean anything.

What is so darn great about "a local mom and pop business" that wants to charge me more? So they can live the high life? I don't think so.

Wal Mart is awesome and they are good for America. 100 million Americans shop in Wal Mart every week. That is one third of America!

They must be doing something right. Keith, you are losing it. I thought you were a big fan of the free market system?

Wal-Mart is not hardly the cause of anything.

The reason Wal-Mart got rich selling foreign-made junk was because rising taxation in the US since the 1960's, drive manufacturing out of the country.

Taxation is the source of government power, and the method of its tyranny.

Until people understand that taxation is their enemy (if it's by Democrats or Republicans) nothing will change.

Yeah, Randy is right Keith!! If you criticize Wal-Mart you're criticizing AMERICA!! You must be AL KAYDAS!!!

Randy, you are as dumb as they come aren't ya buddy? Don't you realize that Wal-Mart is the store front for all the cheap ass slave labor made products from China? It's the storefront of globalization which is what is destroying America today.

I'm all for true free trade and free markets but it can only work when there is a level playing field. With China suppressing it's currency and outrageous low wage slave labor there is no way a production base in America can compete so we do need tariffs on these shitty products.

Hey Randy. Maybe you should move to China if you love Wal-mart so much.

Ignorance and apathy killed the US auto industry. 99% of the population repeats the same standard $50 an hour, lazy UAW worker deserves to get fired, blah, blah, blah.

Tokoyo Rose could not have spread such disinformation so well.

Anyone who can use google should know that UAw pay is $27 and that Toyota and Honda pay as much or more:
http://www.aftermarketnews.com/Item/28594/uaw_losing_pay_edge_foreign_automakers_bonuses_boost_wages_in_us_plants_as_detroit_car_companies_struggle.aspx

All you haters out there prepare to start paying to take care of those UAW workers who are getting tossed out of work.

Obey your corporate masters and hate the other guy's job! Thats working out well for us ain't it?

90% of the products sold at Walmart only sell for a few cents less than other stores. 5% of the products are pretty decent deals (clearance), but 5% are actually higher than elsewhere.

Target probably isn't much better, but I will buy everything I need at Target if they carry it. There are a few items that Target doesn't carry that Walmart does.

I feel disgusted in Walmart mostly because they are very dirty stores (the smell reeks worse than Robert Pattinson). It's a shame of how they treat their employees. Plus I know one of the new Walmarts that opened near here had hundreds of positions and thousands applied. Out of those thousand, they hired the wacked out people who I see there today? Who the heck at the thousands of people who didn't get hired?
