This is the kind of intelligent political debate I want to see. Not the hate porn O'Reilly and Hannity serve up day after day after day after day.

Calm. Rational. Intelligent. Civil.

The only thing missing is a woman.

Two rich white men debating abortion is like two Hungarians debating Ethiopian fiscal policy.

O'Reilly has stated that he thinks 'Late Term' abortion is morally indefensible. I don't know much about Hannity and will just leave him off the table, as I think he's an extremist and not worth the effort. You know, like Olberman.

But you can't just take the words 'Late Term' out of the sentence and carry on like it's an honest discussion or something, like some sandbagger like Frank Rich.

Did you know Tiller performed 60k late term abortions. Agian, late term. That is just chilling, regardless what you think of abortion in general. Oh, and I don't think you'd like the Huckibee show Keith, though it's nice he doesn't fall into the infantile tantrums Hannity does.

It's still hypocritical bull-shit. He says he cares about the life of a few cells in a test-tube but cheers the thousands killed in the Iraq war and torturing the innocent.

What is chilling william d is you passing judgment on a medical issue.

Those late term abortions are NOT elective - not everything goes right in a pregnancy. Maybe the fetus has no brain, or no lungs - absolutely NO hope of survival. The humane thing to do is to terminate it.

one hundred years from now abortion will be looked back upon as a barbaric practice.

it hath been foretold.

Agree. Once all women around the world are given free and easy access to Plan B, then the need for most abortions goes away. This should already be the case, but fundamentalist anti-science ignoramuses are getting in the way (hint - Plan B is contraception, not abortion).

And then by 2050, instead of aborting a baby, the fetus will be taken from the mother by her choice, and raised by a machine until birth, and then adopted.

This will come down to the viability of the fetus. If a fetus can live outside the womb, then killing it will be considered murder. And as science progresses, the abortion window will close, until it's down to a just a few weeks.

Nobody in the end is "for abortion", except maybe satanists. The argument is about the legal rights of a woman, vs. an unborn fetus, and the born trumps the unborn today. I wonder if that will hold true 100 years from now.

"The humane thing to do is to terminate it."

Translation: Human rights are determined by another person. That person becomes the arbiter of our worth and dignity. But since they are "smart" and/or powerful, we will look the other way when they decide to off people for "humane" reasons.

A lady I know was pregnant with her first child. At four months the pregnancy took a turn that jeopardized her life. Her little girl was delivered five months early with barely formed lungs. Against some long odds including open heart surgery, a tracheotomy, and serious infections, she is today a normal child. Tell her mother that her child is pitiful, weak, worthless and "The humane thing to do is to terminate it."

I'm a little sick of abortion only being a "woman's issue". Of course two men can discuss the pro's and con's of abortion. For god's sake quit implying that men aren't a piece of the puzzle. WE HELP MAKE THE DAMN THING!

O Reilly is an opportunistic jerk. Hannity is just plain dumb.

I cannot fathom how one construction worker (wall-banger) and a variety show commentator (LePerchaun) can dominate radio and TV. That shows how stupid the average Joe is.

At least Mr Huckabie is logical and sincere.

"Agree."

interesting...so huckabee's argument regarding the elderly is relevant...i thought it was weak.

if 100 years from now is is common practice to murder anyone after the age of 17 (logan's run reference) then it is ok.

you are not the revolutionary that you think you are keith...IMHO.

Perhaps some progress could be made on the right to life issue by examining the right to die. Could someone please explain to me why it's cruel to assist suicide in suffering terminally ill humans, while at the same it's cruel NOT to do the same with the family dog?

fat am says Tell her mother that her child is pitiful, weak, worthless and "The humane thing to do is to terminate it.

The system worked perfectly, the mother in consultation with her doctors did everything they could while there was still a chance and it paid off. The mother is the arbitor, not some theocracy.

I have a Catholic friend who was having trouble getting pregnant. She decided to try in-vitro - they planted 6. All 6 took, and as a Catholic she couldn't terminate any of them. She and her husband got to spend 1 day with them before all 6 died.

Ahhhh, no.

Men have as much reproduction rights as women.

Just because women have the responsibility of carrying the baby, doesn't mean men loose all say in the matter.

Unless of course, you are sexist. And think babies are strictly a female matter.

Or perhaps you think babies are property, "owned" by the female since she hosts the baby for 9 months. And as property, it's "OK" for owners to destroy their own property.

Maybe if there we not so many self loathing men, maybe men would actually stick up for thier rights.
