We've been here before.

I like Beck.

He entertains me.

He's a circus clown.

He makes me laugh.

Even though he may have raped and murdered a girl in 1990.

But I've got a feeling that oddly, some aren't laughing. Some aren't in on the joke. Some actually believe what the circus clown says.

So be afraid.

The "Summer of American Rage" is turning into something quite unexpected.

Paranoid + broke + racist + uneducated + underemployed + ignorant. Quite a combustible combo we have in post-crash Fox-News-watching America today.

And Beck (and Coulter and Limbaugh and Hannity and Malkin and the rest) are simply arsonists, with a proven business model, laughing all the way to the bank, while their nation burns.

Hi Freaks!

I heard there were a lot of communists on this thread. Thought I'd come by to give you some razzing. How about it?

Watching Glenn Beck is like watching a slow motion car wreck, horrifying, unstoppable, and completely out of control.

Idunno, Keith,

Bandying about unsubstantiated rumor and innuendo. Doesn't that make YOU look more like the guy in the top pic, rather than making the guy in the bottom pic look like the guy in the top pic?

And, weren't you against all the "birther" nonsense, yet you embrace this, i guess, "raper" nonsense?

But, I'll keep an open mind, as often I do. I will happily wait for your evidence.

evildoc - the rape and murder 1990 thing is a total and hilarious joke

it's asking beck to prove a negative. prove to me he didn't rape and murder a girl in 1990. Get it?

it's using his tactics against him. and it's funny. You'd have to be a complete idiot to not get the joke.

Get it?

Guess not.

First listened to him on the radio in 2001. Didn't have a TV at my store on 9/11 and it's aftermath.
He was very liberal as personable and his take on the whole thing was great.
Then a few years later, does a complete about face. He was making a lot of personal comments about his life on 9/11. Think he had problems with alcohol and something about his father.
May be personable, but doesn't have a spine. Just got bought out. His kind very easily brainwashed when someone lays pile of money in front of them.

A college education really makes a difference.
Seems the most ignorant people are the ones who are white, graduated highschool, went to technical school, or somehow got a good job, go to an evangalist church, and want to protect all the stuff they have accumulated, and the American way of life as they know it.
Plenty of smart people to keep them in line tho.
They do mind well....since deep inside they know they don't know.

Keeferonio,

Glenn Beck and the others you mention are the only ones representing what overwhelming majority of Americans think.

We are sick and tired of the Eurostyle enviro exremist constant menipulation.

Individual freedom is whats at stake here.

I am truly greatfull for FOX news, and all the conservative talk show hosts for countering the communications executives at "whats yours is mine inc."

I have a real bad feeling that Keith is going to leave again. And this time, for sure. Then what do I do? Comcast only provides me with CNN and FoxNews. Neither have credibility. I guess I will have to just deal with it.

Glenn Beck is definately a circus clown. The ratings tell you all you need to know about how many people in this country think.

The only thing it does is to teach you how to steal on a grand scale!

Politicians, Lawyers

All these High-end investment A-holes,

The ethics and morals have been educated right out of them!

i.e., Madoff, Milken, Boesky, Lay, Schrenker, Kennedy...

ironically all Democrats!

CORRECTION.
Wait, said it wrong.
Coulter, Matt Drudge, just two that I know of for sure, had LIBERAL parents.
Smart as hell, but have to rebel.
Drudge more balanced then Coulter tho.
She's not only smart, but thinks she is incredibly sexy, pissing liberal men off.
Her whole reason to be.

I hate this kind of meme, FYI. You do not need to go to college in order to spell 'oligarchy' or to see exactly what Glenn Beck and the rest of the right-wing media are up to.

Make no mistake, he is very good at what he does and probably enjoys the hell out of it. He is there to entertain and spread propaganda, but I don't think that he actually believes a lot of the stuff that he is saying.

I think he goes home to his family and cracks jokes about the people who watch his show. I'll even go so far as to to say that the 'oligarchy' bit was an intentional jab at his own audience.

I've said it before and I'll say it again- I bet after the show ends he will publish a book or make a big media spectacle wherein he concedes that it was all a joke and his followers were stupid. I definitely see this man being the type to rub it in, too.

Oh yeah, I see that storm ahead of us. Not particularly looking forward to it.

Yeah, thank God.

Just kidding, plenty of very intelligent people never had a chance at college.I realize that.
But there is a vast majority, most of my family namely, who are good people, just never got to see the world from a different perspective. Through no fault of their own, they didn't get study other cultures, civilizations, great thinkers.
And they are probably as a whole, a lot happier then I am. There is a lot to say for ignorance is bliss.
But with an education, they would be able to see deeper and further in most directions, and make more informed decisions.
Like Ted Kennedy said, don't hate republicans, they care just as much about this country as you do.

Many things in life just aren't simple. You can live a simple life, but it will be just that-simple.

A simple life is usually a tough life, unless you're lucky, like George Bush.

I would say 65 to 70% of Americans have a difficult time figuring things out. I'm talking about difficult stuff, not the easy stuff.

For example, take writing. For most people it's hard.

You see it here on this blog and all across the web. People who avoided writing ANYTHING in high school feel empowered to unleash their undisciplined minds on the internet. Their writing is poor, but their arguments are worse. In fact they don't have an argument; more like random sentences that make no sense. I suspect many simple people don't actually mean what they say when they try to write a post, they just don't know how to express what they really want to say in writing.

Making an argument that makes sense requires some work. Long story short, you need a premise, statements to support your premise and a closing sentence that supports the argument you've made. It's called logic; logical thinking, logical writing. It's an old, old field of study that dates back to the Greeks.

A good writer can do all of this in a clear and concise way.

Making sense of the world demands clear, reasonable-logical-thinking. Same thing with writing.

Without logic we have no science, no technology. No blog!

Everything else-Glenn Beck, many posters-is just that, nonsense. Speakers and writers not making sense.

It's too much to ask the 70% to write well about complicated matters. They haven't had the training nor are most inclined to get it at this stage of their lives. The "blog" is the new soap box in the park. We get it all-the proud and the profane. The brilliant and the stupid.

We like Keith because he can craft complicated subjects in simple terms. That's a skill that requires some work and it shows in the number of people who support this site.

For regular posters here (myself included), try to improve 'your' writing skills.

Have a good day.

Consultant,

No need to over analyze and complicate simple things.

The whole idea of this country has always been that many simple minds add up to much more than a few self proclaimed smarty pants’s.

Its what the Glenn Becks of this world are saying (and why his message is so popular)

It is impossible that the few bureaucrats in Washington DC know better then the average group of ordinary people with or without influence from hard covered books and bold professors with beards. (AKA collage education).

Also; if you have a hard time understanding some of the posts here cause they don’t conform to the method of writing or language described in the overpriced book they made you buy, just re-read the post several times till you get it.

There are limitless ways to articulate ones thoughts

It’s all in the listening.

Onion roll,

Read David McCollough's book on John Adams. Or any of his books. You will quickly learn the American Revolution was not instigated or led by "simple minds" or "simple people".

Nowhere in the writings of Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Hamilton, etc. do you find anything that remotely suggests,

"many simple minds add up to much more than a few self proclaimed smarty pants’s"

Simple minds wouldn't have produced the constitution, or the bill of rights, or, as Hamilton did, figure out a way get the heavily indebted new govt. out of debt.

Read Onion roll, read. Read widely.

You're not going to get this stuff on the Glenn Beck show.

My dad was a professional. Used to stand on the bed to turn the ceiling fan off and a fart lasted at least 60 seconds and could be heard on the other end of the house.
He'd fall into bed laughing his ass off.

I think I'll be going away again soon. Good to come back for a bit, as some of the posters here are really worth it, and some matters needed to be addressed. But my sense is that the level of ignorance and negativity in the US is at such a level, that it's frankly not worth the effort anymore. It was a good fight, we had our victories.

But there are just too many Greg Swann's and Fox News watchers out there.

To be fair, I made the your/you're remark, and I'm a different anon than the one who posted the original comment you were referring to, so don't blame him.

It is absolutely true that a college degree isn't an indicator of intelligence, or even book smarts, but I'm sure it's also true that the majority of the Fox News watching, conspiracy theory believing, venom spouting moran's (heh...see how I made that a twofer!) are indeed undereducated.

Without the 'base of the base' the smart ones couldn't get away with it.

Lets begin with "We the People"

translation = "The whole idea of this country has always been that many simple minds add up to much more than a few self proclaimed smarty pants’s."

Ideas that are not limited to the content of books.

It is what made this country successful.

To the degree that the few smarty pants’s attempt to enlighten the masses (Monarchy, what Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Hamilton, etc. rebelled)is the degree that this country will end up top heavy Monarchy like.

and we all know how that ends.

A few observations:

-I really think everyone here should consider keeping their television on ESPN or the Food Network permanently. I can't find much value in the rest of it, especially FOX!!NEWS!!, CNN and MSNBC. I will keep saying this until my head falls off.

-The one universal truth I can say that I learned in College is to think about why a person is telling you something and what their motives are for the action they are asking you to take. High School, JC and Trade Schools do not teach you that.

-I will never understand how it is a bad thing that people are openly questioning and arguing with their elected officials. We are doing this because we have figured out that they are not DOING THEIR JOB.

That's all I've got. It's still pretty sad to me that attacking the messenger instead of the message is the only debate tactic used by the lefties and the righties anymore.

Keith, America is worth saving, but it sounds like you're not willing to fight for it anymore.

Consultant made some good points! I just want to add that our entire civilization is based largely upon the Greeks, you know, the folks who invented acadamies? Academies, for those who don't know it, are really the forerunner of our modern western universities, in fact its where we get the term "academics". There is no question the Greeks did great things and that without them, the people of the Rennaisance would have nothing which they could use to pull the European world out of the dark ages! No one can seriously question the fact that without the first "academics" (or Greeks) society today might still be in the dark ages! For the Fox news watchers out there, I would only want to remind you that the dark ages weren't dark because there was no light, but because people refused to see it.

Everything is falling apart right now because a power group got to much greedy control at the expense of the general public . The balance scales ....got off balance .
It's as simple as that...and the
