Republicans 2001 - 2008: the out-of-control, unregulated, drunk-on-power girl in the red dress. America 2010: the girl in white.

It's not just that the Republicans got out of control, and took the world down with them.

No, it's that everyone stood around and watched, and did nothing, until it was too late.

Watch out for girls in red dresses. After they sober up, and everyone's forgotten what they've done, they'll come right back another night and do it all again.

Watch out for girls in red dresses.

Keith,

Too funny!!!

But absolutely true. The Dems are bad, but the Repub Party has become the "Dawn of the Living Dead".

But we can't stop at political parties. A culture of "get something for nothing", deep narcissism, cynicism, corruption and an attitude of "lets just party" has taken over our country (about 35 years in the making). Add those two ingredients to the simmering racism and the tragic state of education in our country and you get what we now have:

a nation about to become a full blown banana republic with 18,000 nuclear warheads.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Liz Cheney loves her daddy, Sarah Palin loves adulation, Glenn Beck loves money, Michele Bachmann is just a fruitcake. All just pole dancers at Obama's wedding. But I think he's smart enough not to stand under the tent.

The caterer, a named Obama, was outside having a smoke when the roof fell. He doesn't have a clue about what to do, he just wants somebody to pay for all those chicken wings and mini burgers that got spilled on the ground.

Uhh, Keith, the dems took over congress in 2006. Are they blameless? 82 Democrats in the house and 29 in the senate voted for the Iraq War resolution. Are they blameless?

9 dems in the house made it possible to pass Medicare Part D. It passed by just 1 vote. The senate passed it by unanimous consent. Are the dems blameless?

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd didn't want any regulations of Fannie and Freddie. Are they blameless?

Democrats, including Obummer, voted for every single one of Bush's budgets. Are they blameless? In fact, Bush's 2008 budget only got 2 GOP votes in the senate. The rest were dems.

Keith, if you knew how to think critically and actually learned how to use The Google and The Innernets, you wouldn't make yourself look like such an ass.

Oh, and another important Bush agenda item was the Patriot Act.

In the senate, it passed 98-1. In the house, 145 dems voted for it.

In the 2006 Patriot Act extension, 66 dems voted yea. The Senate passed it with unanimous consent. Are these dems blameless?

For FISA, 41 dems in the House voted yes. In the Senate, 22 dems voted yes. Are they blameless?

Bottom line keith is that Bush did what he did with bipartisan support. When Bush wanted to do something positive like more regulation of Fannie and Freddie, dems stood in the way.

Pay Lay - I hate the Democrats and hope they're all thrown out in 2010.

I hate the republicans and hope they're all thrown out in 2010.

I hope there's not one incumbent left standing.

Does that help?

That said, the GOP was the one in power 2001 - 2006, and then into 2008, and their policies of deregulation and not enforcing the rule of law led directly to The Great Crash. It cannot be denied.

The Democrats love affair with Fannie and Freddie and the NAR was also a direct cause of the Great Crash.

Both parties are corrupt and both are to blame.

The Republicans though, in a game of "who's to blame more", win hands down.

Throw 'em all out.

And then do it again.

And then do it again.

And then do it again.

And then do it again.

It's the only way.

Keith, I am a longtime follower and admirer, but I don't see this as a partisan thing. Congressional Dems fought every effort to rein in Fannie and Freddie, without whose undoing of lending standards the bubble never would have happened. I would be happy to show you video circa 2003 of Barney Frank, Maxine Waters and others bullying OFHEO Chief Armando Falcon. Sure Bush bragged about the "ownership society" - I am just saying all parties were at fault.

HAHAHHA!!!!!!!!!1
There but for the grace of god some 25 years ago. Don't think you can blame this on dems or republicans though?

Keith,

That's the problem. Everyone wants to throw out the "other" bums, but they want to keep "their" representatives.

It's just like our schools. You hear parents on the news saying stuff like "our neighborhood school is great". Realtors are famous for playing up how "great" this and that local school system is. Meanwhile ALL the objective evidence shows the students aren't learning shit (sorry for the language folks. But I get mad at how we screw our children. With some teachers literally doing the screwing).

A lot of people want to believe that "my" piece of the world is okay, but everything else out there has gone to hell. In most cases, it doesn't work that way folks.

Everyone who reads this blog knows our Congress is bought and paid for. Period. But who is doing the buying and the paying? Big corporations and wealthy people. These are people and institutions who are putting the screws to the rest of us.

What's the solution? Free markets don't work. Why? There never has been (see slavery and the $700 billion dollar bailout for the banks) and never will be a trully free market. Wall St. would be a ghost town today if we had one.

Democracy was invented to spread power so that rule making authority isn't concentrated in a few hands.

Well, we've reached one of those periods in our history where our democracy doesn't quite work the way it's suppose to. We've got to break up the power.

So until (or if) we develop democracy 2.0, we're stuck with a bunch of plutocrats who aren't working for us. And that goes for most Democrats in Congress and just about all the Republicans.

anon - yes, the Dems and Barney Frank were so far up Fannie's ass you didn't know who was who. Remember, Obama put their should-be-in-jail CEO Franklin Raines in charge of his VP search for a few days.

Like I said, I HATE the dems. I want them gone. And I HATE the GOP. I want them gone. I want EVERY incumbent thrown out on his or her ass. EVERY one of 'em.

But of course, 95% of 'em will be re-elected. Because the system got gamed. And American voters are stupid.

Pure. Comedy. Gold. that one...

But you are being far too kind. This Benedict Arnold is up to his eyeballs in supporting what is going on.

Very far indeed from just being a screwup goofing off. That's been the standard excuse swallowed whole without a wit of protest since this disaster started.
