Microsoft tanks, as Ballmer states "the economy is resetting to a lower level of business and consumer spending"
Reset.
Yup.
That about sums it up.
Remember, the world is not going back to normal after the magnitude of what they have done.
(And by the way, Vista and your new Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs all suck. REALLY, really suck)
"We are certainly in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime set of economic conditions. The economy is resetting to a lower level of business and consumer spending."

Wow, that's the most intelligent thing Balmer has ever said. Quite the contrast to this:
Balmer's Least Intelligent Moment

What a dick !!! Sweating all over his hairy monkey body. Damn sloppy S.O.B
You know what that means for the Bohemian Grove freaks:
WAR! WAR! WAR!
So Keith, aren't you gonna say anything about this:
The Obama administration has waived its ethics rules to allow William Lynn, a Raytheon executive, to serve as the deputy secretary of Defense.
Totally acceptable to you, huh? Hellooooo???? A Raytheon executive to run the Pentagon????? And Obama gives a "waiver" to his promise of not hiring lobbyists? Can't you see your hero is a puppet of the military industry complex?
I give up...gotta move on because I can't take all these sheeps here anymore.
Vista and the new Office apps do suck incredibly hard. It's shocking that a company with nearly unlimited resources could turn decent software into totally unusable garbage. It took me 5 minutes just to figure out how to print in the new Word.
Hey Aaron:
The US and the politicians suck incredibly hard. It's shocking that a country with nearly unlimited resources could turn decent government into totally unusable garbage. It took me 5 minutes just to figure out how to print the new IRS rules.
The point is bigger is not better. Consider local, flexible solutions like LINUX. They are FREE as in FREEDOM, and they don't cost. Try Ubuntu 8.10. It rocks, and its going to kill MS, just like liberty will make a stand.

You forgot the Medical Industrial and the Financial Industrial complexes. Sheesh!
And don't leave out FISA, faith based initiatives, and continuing to bomb Pakistan. You realise, we will invade Pakistan, right?
1. Great blogging, as usual.
2. Ballmer sucks. Why do he and Wagoner still have jobs?
3. I hated Vista and never used it, stuck with XP and am super happy. I'm curious about Windows 7 not so much as a product, but as a bell-weather for the internal state of MSFT. Maybe they "got it" after a couple bad post-Vista quarters. Remember, we need strong American software competition to keep up with Moore's law and to usher in the Age of Robotics and AI.
Did somebody hit the reset button or did the power supply just blow up?
Keefer, no one care.
If you don’t like it then invent a better word processor and shut up.
"It took me 5 minutes just to figure out how to print in the new Word."
WTF? Office button->Print, or Help->Print a file->RTFM
Change is inevitable; growth is optional.
"They are FREE as in FREEDOM, and they don't cost. Try Ubuntu 8.10. It rocks, and its going to kill MS..."
Yawn. Linux was "going" to kill MS years ago. Read the Last Dinosaur and the Tarpits of Doom to see how extending a trendline doesn't work in the real world. Show me an Ubuntu that works with my wireless without having to resort to ndiswrapper. The average computer user can't pay attention long enough for an ndiswrapper solution.
Linux is fun and all until you need to do certain things. Like anything more than writing a letter or surfing the web. And where is my "community-developed" Quicken for Linux? Oh, that's right, anything I need in Linux I can write myself. Sorry, I have better things to do.
Try www.openoffice.org. It's free and works great. No bloatware.
Thanks to Mish for the tip.
Keith can't agree more on Vista sucking.
Vista is the greates case against Micorsoft's monopoly. Can't buy a PC without that aweful, aweful program on it. The last of the new PCs with XP were long gone a year ago.
I needed a new computer, all that was available was Vista (or go MAC). Twelve months later the new faster computer sits waiting for a descent Vista patch by Microsoft while I use the old too slow computer (which is way faster because it runs XP).
I know I should just erase the Vista and go to XP on the new one but eventually there will be no updates for XP so I figure I need to learn crap Vista?
F-you Microsoft!
GT Charlie
Oh, agreed on the coming fall in living standards too.
"They are FREE as in FREEDOM, and they don't cost. Try Ubuntu 8.10. It rocks, and its going to kill MS..."
yea, but does it run MS Word?
"It took me 5 minutes just to figure out how to print in the new Word."
hmmm, don't use word much, or any windows apps for that matter, huh?
try alt-f p
it still works, even in office 2007

===================================
hmmm, dell will still sell you a pc with xp. I just checked.
"If you don’t like it then invent a better word processor and shut up."
Wow! Is that all I have to do? I did not realize it was that easy. Please shut the f*ck up!
More good news.
MSFT will still be hiring in Asia.
5,000 layoffs will be in the USA.
The reduced 5,000 headcount will be reintroduced in 2010 to be filled with non FTE, temp visa workers only.
Gates will to go D.C. in 2010 claiming he can't find any USA programmers to fire. Gutless and lazy media and Congress will by Gates bull crap hook, line and sucker.
Well it's about time. They've been making garbage for 20 years. Microsoft's business model is based on releasing bug-infested software, forcing the end user to continually keep upgrading. Totally unethical.
About time their gravy train came to an end.
i guess not being able to sell us products because we keep thinking that we need all that new technology and then we find that we don't. is this guy saying that because they won't be able to sell products with 50 dollars worth of components for 1000 anymore. will i finally be able to get my son an xbox for a reasonable price, or will it still be 600.00 and still on the shelf. pretty soon he may have a job at mcdonalds after all the mexicans leave and go home, and he can buy his own. i can wait.
