I could never figure out why Barney Frank wouldn't crack down on Fannie Mae. But now we know. He was seeking to please Herb Moses, his Fannie lover

One day the world will (eventually) find out the truth. Hopefully. That will take an Independent Special Prosecutor, and probably a few Congressmen to turn states evidence.

But it is my hope that one day we'll understand what drove Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, Chris Cox, Phil Graham, George Bush and all the rest to destroy America.

And I think the truth will shock us.

Here's a little bit on Barney and his Fannie lover (no pun intended). When you're sleeping with Fannie's product development team, you probably turn a trick or two in their favor, eh? Who cares if the world financial system goes down. And no, I don't care that Barnie is gay, or moral scum. What I do care about is that he f*cked America and the world, all to please his Fannie lover.

Here's the scoop. Hide the children.

In 1991, Barney Frank received an official reprimand for reflecting “discredit upon the House.” The reprimand came as a result of his relationship with a man named Steve Gobi, a male prostitute whom Frank initially paid $80 for sex. Frank later took Gobi to live with him in his home, making him a personal aide. He paid him $20,000 in compensation (unreported to the IRS) and let him use his car. Subsequent investigation revealed that in the course of their relationship, Frank used his congressional office and stationary to fix Gobi’s 33 parking fines. Frank also used his congressional letterhead to write a reference letter to Gobi’s probation officer — Gobi was under court supervision as a convicted felon with a prison record — in which he gave false information. Most damningly, the investigation found that Gobi ran a prostitution ring from Frank’s home. In his defense, Frank asserted he knew nothing of Gobi’s illicit enterprise.

After Gobi, Barney Frank become involved in another questionable — and possibly criminally tainted — relationship with a man called Herb Moses. Moses, whom Frank called his “spouse,” was a high-level executive at Fannie Mae from 1991 until 1998. Dubbed a “mortgage guru” by the National Mortgage News, Moses boasted that he helped develop “many of Fannie Mae’s affordable housing and home improvement lending programs.” It was, of course, these kinds of programs that ultimately led to the collapse of the subprime mortgage market that wiped out trillions dollars from the economy and produced the economic turmoil that we now face. Even though there were those warning against the precarious nature of the enterprise, Barney Frank — whose committee oversees Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — kept resisting reforms and besmirching those voicing concerns.

When the Bush administration proposed that oversight of Fannie and Freddie be transferred to the Treasury Department, Frank strongly opposed the plan, claiming:

These two entities… are not facing any kind of financial crisis… The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”

Frank continued to claim almost until the day of the collapse that the two mortgage giants were financially sound. If we lived in a sane world, Barney Frank would be compelled to testify about his culpability in the current crisis and what role his romantic involvement with Herb Moses — as well as the campaign contributions he received from Fannie and Freddie — played in his shilling for these two moribund institutions.

"When the Bush administration proposed that oversight of Fannie and Freddie be transferred to the Treasury Department..."

Bush was culpable in the GSE debacle. he fired the GSE's top regulator Armando Falcon and replaced him with patsy James Lockhart. why did Bush fire Falcon? b/c Falcon wrote a scathing piece on the GSEs' derivatives and JPMorgan just couldn't sit idly by while their imaginary profits were attacked.

f*ck/kill them all.

The fact that he hasn't had a stranger come up to him on the street and put a .44 Magnum through his corrupt head says volumes about how forgiving (STOOPID) America is. This will get very ugly before all is said and done. Some innocents will end up dead, and some guilty will never see justice. What a sad time for a once great country.

i think frank is one of te biggest douchebags in congress...but it says moses was their from 1991 - 1998...timing is a little off if you ask me.

don't get me wrong though...i do believe frank bears alot of responsiblity for the housing bubbble...just not that his gay lover had anything to do with it.

And Jon Stewart played the O'Reilly part of that clip as a 'bad thing'. His crowd laughed mindless laughter.

Maybe getting mauled in front of a national audience is part of what made Barney 'see the light' and start shouting for indictments (which is a good thing regardless of what ya think of Barney in general).

In fact, maybe ANGER has its place when half of the worlds wealth suddenly disappears.

Ha Ha Ha, gays are so funny. If Frank were guilty of anything he would ride your homophobic jokes to freedom.

But I don't think Frank is liable for the mortgage crisis.

A second witness for the Defense:

"In fact, Rep. Barney Frank (D., Mass.) is the only politician I know who has argued that we needed tighter rules that intentionally produce fewer homeowners and more renters. Politicians usually believe that homeownership rates should – must – go ever higher. The rarity of Mr. Frank's contrarian thinking is a reminder that when markets are committing excesses, we certainly should not expect Washington to act as a check on them."

"...his Fannie lover (no pun intended)..."

Not much anyway. "Gobi’s illicit enterprise" yet nothing came of it.

A more cynical person might think that bigger heads would've fallen if it was pursued.

What a rash of coincidence! From Jeanne Palfrey to Gary Webb; Craig Spence and Jeff Gannon...

Phil Gramm; Vice-Chairman of a corporation that hides assets to evade tax. One of their employees actually smuggled diamonds in toothpaste. Enough of a cliché? Enron loophole, repeal of Glass-Steagall, Commodities Futures Modernization Act...

What Washington really is: ONE BIG WHOREHOUSE.

The way that America use to be run,
was that government officals were checked for any possible activity that might leave them vunerable to
blackmail.

When a corruption cycle hits a society black is white and white is black . In theory when gay people came out of the closet ,they were no longer blackmailable . But activity that is still considered a moral violation or legal violation against society would still be blackmailable .

These are sick people. And we trust them to run our country...

Call-girls, airport toilets, $80 male hookers.
And the fun never stops.
This is like the old days of Rome. Imagine Barney in a toga at the bathhouse, stuffing his fat face with grapes while getting stuffed up his fat ass by a barbarian slave. Disgusting Pig.
(Not that there is anything wrong with it).
And America will fall just like Rome.

Well this in interesting reporting...for a program like E!.

I mean, just wait until surfer Jim Ready finds out about all of this.

Way to go, Keith. And another American family is destroyed!

Christ! That's all we need. A Washington-Wall Street love triangle on top of all this white-collar criminal conduct.

Oh, where's my Bye-ble?...gotta find it and turn to 1 Cor. 6:9-10 for some good old southern fried white-horse ridin', moralizin'...

Ok Keith,

Blah blah blah.

How bout some real Analysis, on how an inexperienced world -specifically Europe- joined the ‘global market’ via the new communication technologies and brought with them horrible ideas.

This will explain why Europe had an even larger housing mania then anyplace else.
Why the European banks are way more leveraged then ours.

I know, I know the initial response was “American toxic assets” are to blame

But as things become clearer, we now understand that the same
A-holes who brought us
“The brutal Church”
“Brutal Communism”
“Inhumane Nazis”
“Unconditional Moral supporters of Islamic terror”

Have all come on board with the age of information, and contributed their dumb financial concepts.

Think about it folks..

Every time we hear a so-called ‘financial expert’ with a European accent on the radio or TV take notice of the underlying agenda.

There is not one word of truth that comes from the EU

I do believe is gay lover had something to do with it and their is many more in the circle jerk with Frank and this guy. The everybody including the poor mentality of homeownership has not been anything new. It has been a very left wing agenda for a long time. It was when Clinton took office that they really started to salivate at the fact they may have a go at it, and they got their chance. Enough Republicans and Democrats wanted their banking buddies to make more money. This has been spinning out of control ever since. I don't see this timing being off at all.

Pasta man, whatever you are smoking most be pretty good. Blaming the EU for something cryptic? Get a life. Your ancestor killed 20 million Indians. And then about a similar number during slavery. Stalin killed 20-40 million people. The Chinese even more. The man with moustache in Germany some 5 million jews. Notice a pattern? Yes, genocide has happened all over the world. On your continent also. On huge scale too. Then again, you must be too ignorant to know any history beyond the Americal Idol.

Pretty defensive eh?
Truth must hurt.

Read you own response again. (and correct the facts)
I do know history very well, and no people, society, culture, race, or ethnic group have
committed such hanus brutal murderous human crime like the Europeans have and still support today.

Like oil on water truth will surface..

A very large part of the current economic problems are directly related to ‘Financial ideas that came out of corrupt Europe’

1)Did you get your numbers from the BBC or Al-Jazeera?
2)Other peoples wrongs don’t make you right – “2 wrongs do not = 1 right”
3)It was not just a crazy man with a moustache who murdered MILLIONS of Jewish people; 2000 years of persecution and genocide by the Church had a lot to do with it.
4)Europe is a horrible place

I live in Barney Frank country.

I have met him twice.

He has a sharp wit, and when the spotlight is off, he can be quite human and engaging.

However, I never thought had any standards other than to get re-elected.

Unfortunately, Massholes will continue to re-elect him and inflict us with his presence.

somebody out to turn all this into a novel. change the names but keep the story and the characters roles intact.

get oprah to recommend it then have the author come out and say it is based on real events and real people.

maybe that would get people to wake the F up and notice what is and has been going on.

Barney Frank needs to be kicked out of office. He has everything to do with ACORN getting their wish for poor folks to buy homes. Barney complained banks were not lending to this segment of people. So he had congress pass laws for lenders to lighten up on qualifications so the uneducated and poor could qualify with subprime loans to buy homes.

For Barney to say now that heads need to roll for those responsible...

Frank needs to resign.

Keith,

As much you you say you aren't homophobic, you are.

You still think it's OK to include a person's sexuality into WHAT THEY MAY HAVE DONE.

If Barney were buffing some skanky call girl, would you have made reference to a butt. (FYI, not all gays are as interested in that part of the body as most heteros seem to think we are.) Strange......

I'm gay and no fan of Barney's actions. Perhaps you need to mature a little bit. I mean, why not do a watermelon and tap dancing joke about Obama?

Fannie Mae

I didn't make up the name.

He had a lover at Fannie Mae.

His Fannie lover.

Take your gay PC stuff somewhere else.

I truly don't care if he likes animals or men or women or riding bicycles.

I don't care.

I do care that he did favors for his lover at the expense of the world. That is corruption at its most basic form.

But you have to admit, Fannie lover is a good accidental double entendre.

Just to back up my last point, in related news, bravo

And this is one more reason why the GOP will never win another national election.

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration will endorse a U.N. declaration calling for the worldwide decriminalization of homosexuality that then-President George W. Bush had refused to sign, The Associated Press has learned.

U.S. officials said Tuesday they had notified the declaration's French sponsors that the administration wants to be added as a supporter. The Bush administration was criticized in December when it was the only western government that refused to sign on.

The move was made after an interagency review of the Bush administration's position on the nonbinding document, which was signed by all 27 European Union members as well as Japan, Australia, Mexico and three dozen other countries, the officials said.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because Congress was still being notified of the decision. They said the administration had decided to sign the declaration to demonstrate that the United States supports human rights for all.

"The United States is an outspoken defender of human rights and critic of human rights abuses around the world," said one official.

Pasta Man, wake up. UK is not Europe as I am sure Keith would agree. And UK is the financial hub that you blame. Secondly, here is a quote for you on the genocide of American Indians. And even more blacks died in slavery. Get your history correct.

"Thus, according to Ward Churchill, a professor of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado, the reduction of the North American Indian population from an estimated 12 million in 1500 to barely 237,000 in 1900 represents a "vast genocide . . . , the most sustained on record." By the end of the 19th century, writes David E. Stannard, a historian at the University of Hawaii, native Americans had undergone the "worst human holocaust the world had ever witnessed, roaring across two continents non-stop for four centuries and consuming the lives of countless tens of millions of people." In the judgment of Lenore A. Stiffarm and Phil Lane, Jr., "there can be no more monumental example of sustained genocide—certainly none involving a 'race' of people as broad and complex as this—anywhere in the annals of human history"
