It's time for an Independent Special Prosecutor. And the first thing he should look at is Senator Chris Dodd. Friend of Angelo. Friend of AIG.

Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn.):

Billed by Gawker.com as "the senator from AIG," Dodd inserted language into the stimulus package that allowed for the AIG bonuses, weakening an earlier provision by Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore) that limited bailout recipients' ability to dole out bonuses.

His provision included this line: "There is an exception for contractually obligated bonuses agreed on before Feb. 11, 2009."

[UPDATE]

Sen. Dodd Admits Adding Bonus Provision to Stimulus Package

In a dramatic reversal Wednesday, Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., confessed to adding language to the stimulus bill last month that exempted all bonuses that bailed-out companies had promised to employees before Feb. 11, 2009.

Dodd told FOX News that Treasury officials forced him to make the change.

"As many know, the administration was, among others, not happy with the language. They wanted some modifications to it," he said. "They came to us, our staff, and asked for changes, and the changes at the time did not seem that obnoxious or onerous."

Obamma is number 2 on the list for the largest payoff from AIG and the wallstreet boys. The game is rigged, your boy is crooked just like Bukko.

of course Obamie will claim to know nothing about the "inserted language" and feign disgust!

No Keith, Americans are concerned with more pressing issues:

OMG, first Al Gore's fluffy polar bear, now Natasha Richardson dies after ski fall. Why? Why? Whyyyyyyy???

Keith: you publish so much inane political tripe that it is difficult to wade through to get to insighful/interesting commentary.

The first 500 "Obama luvver" trolls were your pretension to fairness.

Now it's a farce.

Let's see how quickly this one goes away. I betcha no heads roll over it.

Now if the guy would have gotten a bj, then he'd be in trouble. But violating the Constitutional duty for a separatation of the branches of government, nah that isn't a big deal.

And by the way, what special skills does it take to be Treasury Secretary anyway? I mean, we over looked the fact that the guy cheated on his taxes because he was uniquely qualified for the job. The only special skills I have seen so far (and what ties to him past heads of the Treasury) is his ability to be an unbelieveable scumbag. Hey, I can do that. How hard is it to lobby in your friends best interest?

Republicans, you want to earn my respect back? Start introducing articles of Impeachment for Geithner. Censure Paulson. Put one of these faggots in jail.

No, that's wrong. Americans are much more concerned with trailer trash kids gone missing in Florida. Hey, we can relate!
Oh, and the Octopussy and her squids.
AIG? Whuz dat?

no, but I would believe him if he pleaded stupidity or incompetence.

so now we have treasury staffers writing legislation?????

I thought the lobbyists were the only ones who wrote legislation.

Read Jane Hamsher (website: firedoglake) to get the true story about the sequence of events/who is really at fault, here.

Clue: it is not Dodd.

Kill them? Nah.

Too good for them.

All of these corrupt Treasury department fools go straight to jail. Seize assets.

To quote from Eddie Murphy in Trading Places, "the best way to hurt rich people is make them poor people."

The thought of Paulson lickin jelly from Thunderdick's buttcrack makes me smile.

Both firedoglake and greenwald at salon.com have debunked this. The Obama administration needs a fall guy and Dodd is it. The GOP on the other hand (being Masters of Hypocrisy) have opposed ANY AND ALL attempts to limit executive pay.

Excellent; thank you for that.

In case you all forgot

Two Senators Appear to be "Friends of Countrywide"

The loud "thud" you just heard over in the corner of the Senate hearing room was Senator Chris Dodd's vice presidential hopes hitting the wall.

The Senator was the second major political figure caught up in and possibly brought down by various aspects of the mortgage mess in general and Countrywide Financial in particular.

The Senator, a Democrat from Connecticut and Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee which regulates mortgage lending, was named in an article by Julie Hirschfeld Davis of the Associated Press and earlier by Conde Nast Portfolio magazine, as one of two senators ' the other being Senator Kent Conrad (D ' ND) ' as having received preferential treatment from Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo in obtaining mortgage loans. Dodd had earlier this year called Countrywide's lending practices "abusive."

You mean traders from AIG, who BTW, just happened to be located in CT, Mr. Dodd's state, got favorable changes to include their bonuses?

I wonder how much campaign donations this generated for Mr. Dodds.

I'm shocked!!! SHOCKED!!!
Business as usual in the good ol' USA.

You can wish all you want for it to go away, and a higher authority is in order to stop the criminal insanity, and it seems they're all a part-of it, so just where do go to find such justifiably moral character in this world?

If it's from the government, forget it, maybe the courts, possibly. Where is the independence in finding some rational end to all the corrupt and debilitating sickness?

Unfortunately it looks like they'd rather bring the whole system down before they do anything remotely ethical and just, not to mention grown-up and responsible.

At this point of the sob's criminal activity, you may as well pray that there is a god and a hell and they all go there eventually. Because I don't see even a glimmer of hope on the horizon at this point in the hell they've made for us.

Geithner ADMITS To Exception Demand

"... In an interview with CNN's Ali Velshi, Geithner said the Treasury Department did talk to Sen. Chris Dodd about a clause he put forth that would have strictly limited executive bonuses.

So Dodd was telling the truth - he was pressured by Treasury..."

Just hilarious. Now everyone tries to disown the mess. Dodd blames the administration, while Geithner (no doubt under pressure from Obama) says it was his idea. There is no honor among thieves. Welcome to BushCoII.
